not bad, not great and first couple of listens definitely had some cringe factor to them (hope that wears off), could be great live. Just didn't blow my sox off.

Hope they are keeping up the recent tradition of not releasing the best song as a single
Im not supersticious, Im just a littlesticious.

Actually... I am a little bummed about the fade out. Does the song remind anyone else of unemployable?

Unemployable is way better in my opinion. I don't mind the fixer. But the radio releases for me are seldom the songs I would choose. Looking forward to the rest of the album. I should also give it about 4 more listens. I'm only 3 in.

    Yes! I agree!

i read the previous posts on here while myspace was loading (bad internet connection) and read you called it "poppy" so was that a compliment/criticism or just sth. you noticed?
the song sounds kinda familiar, is there one out that sounds a little like it ,or is PJ just the best band in the world with the best songs that you can immediately connect to?
  • What weird instrument is that at 1:28 right before the bridge. Its so strange for a PJ song. Its the poppiest part of this poppy PJ song. So weird.

  • lol - if we are comparing this to pearl jam and pearl jam only - it's terrible. unemployable sounds about right.

i dont know how they release this stuff with a straight face.

They seriously could have made this song a million times better. Those claps in the background are flat out cheesy. I know for a fact it will kick ass live, since that riff is so good, but the studio version is corny as hell.

I think corny is a good word choice for what I just heard. Has that sort of wishlist thing going on in the lyrics, but something is just cheesy with it. I can hear potential for this being a really fun live song though.

I agree. Corny is what came to mind first..probably while I cringed. I will say that I love the riff, and as I read on the thread, I'm sure it'll be much better live. I much prefer "Got Some."

It's very refreshing. I don't think we've heard this big a change from the band since Vitalogy to No Code. And is it just me or does the band seems happier because of the lighter sound?

Poppy to me is a compliment. It's wild, this is exactly what I expected/wanted.

Didn't "Get Right" have the clap thing going also?

I am about 10 listens in. I don't mind the song. It's catchy, but for some reason it hasn't hit me yet. It might grow... It really reminds me of unemployable still and that's my que to grab a beer at the concert.

I think it sounds a little Yield era-ish. Like this could totally be a Yield B-side.

I am liking it alright. I personally would like to hear a cleaned up "Get Some", I think I prefer that song over "The Fixer".

When something’s on let me shed a little light on it
When something’s cold let me put a little fire on it
If something’s old I wanna put a bit of shine on it
When something’s gone I wanna fight to get it back again
    Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Fight to get it back again
    Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah

When something’s broke I wanna put a bit of fixin on it
If something’s bored I wanna put a little excited on it
If something’s low I wanna put a little high on it
If something’s lost I wanna fight to get it back again
    Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Fight to get it back again
    Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah

When signals cross I wanna put a little spade on it
If there’s no love I want to try to love again
I’ll say your prayers I’ll take your side
I promise a way to make light

the entire time i was thinking "mike must be fucking bored playing this".

the fade out kills Mike. it seemed to me that he was getting into a groove @ the end...and then came the fade out.

but on your point, Mike play a lot of subtle parts in many songs....most of which you may think that he's "bored". he doesn't have to be shredding 100% of the time to be "into" a song. just my $0.02.
