The Fixer is released now

Whenever I hear a new PJ song I think "will all my friends and family laugh at me when they hear this on the radio?"
The answer tonight is...yes.0 -
So where can I download Fixer? PJ has made nothing clear if the digital download is through pearljam.com or iTunes; or ever what time Monday.
Any info?0 -
More listens and to me I have agree with peoples comments about the repetitiveness of it. After the 20 seconds on the base ball the other night I was bummed and expected more. Unfortunately I did actually hear the song in those 20 seconds and have had no further surprises.Post edited by Glen onIm not supersticious, Im just a littlesticious.0

As far as the new tune goes I like it. I love how people here poop themselves when PJ writes a song with a hook in it. There's nothing wrong with writing a memorable catchy song that's fun to listen to. There's some typically interesting Gossardy chord changes and rhythmic weirdness that makes it non-cliche. I do wish Mikey was given more to do here--it could use a full on solo in the middle or at the end.
P.S. Lord how I've missed Brendan O'Brian. Matt's drums and Jeff's bass sound incredibly tight. So this life is sacrifice...

my take on the lyrics
when somethings dark, let me shed a little light on it.
when somethings cold, let me put a little fire on it.
if somethings old, i want to put a bit of shine on it.
when somethings gone, i want to fight to get it back again.
yeah yeah fight to get it back again.
when something's broke, i want to put a bit of fixing on it.
when something's bored, i want to put a little excited on it.
when something's low, i want to put a little high on it.
when something's lost, i want to fight to get it back again.
yeah yeah fight to get it back again.
when signals cross, i want to put a bit of straight on it.
if there's no law, i want to try to love again.
ill say your prayers ill take your side
ill promise a way to make light
ill dig your grave (well it's the same what could be as wild as lifetime?)
The only line I really struggled with was the last, and there could be slight problems with other lines but I think it's right for the most part. The "if there's no law, i want to try and love again" reminds me of the "if it's illegal to be in love" line from Comatose. The lyrics remind me a lot like the structure of Wishlist in that each line follows the same formula, but there's more variation here.Post edited by over bends onYield!

To me its like the Kings of Leon of doing Sex is On Fire, you know you want to hate it, buts its so damn catchy you cant. I loved this song from the second listen. Someone was complaining about claps? I hear no claps whatsoever. Its good pop rock, I think my girlfriend will like it a lot. The vocals are nice and crisp and the rhythm section is impeccable and tight. The riff is interesting, and whatever that weird instrument in the back is adds another level.
The song sounds like they are having fun playing it, and I can't wait to hear it live, definitely going to be a crowd mover.

i really hope this is true. the whole 'sex is on fire' was annoying from the start.
all indications are they're bringing more than this...i just hope it's so.0 -

On repeated listens I think the line is:
I'll dig your grave, we'll dance and sing, what s????? could be wild as lifetime.
I'm pretty sure about the 'dance and sing'0 -

I really like it. I don't hear Unemployable at all, odd comparison if you ask me.
The lyrics are kind of Sex on Fire weak, but it's a fun single in the same way.0 -

I too would have liked a proper end to the song, instead of the fade out. I doubt what we're hearing is a special 'radio version' as some are hoping. We'll get our non-fade version when they tour
Bring on the Australian shows (and still hoping for a Hong Kong stop on the tour)!!!0
