i heard some negative things about the Wed. night show...i've got a buddy who's 47th show was Wed. night and he said it was one of the worst he's ever been to...aparantley the sign requests weren't the greatest and it really brought down the tempo of the show..

I was there and heartily disagree with your bud...any show with "London Calling" could not be in the worst category.

"I don't want to be sacrilegious," said an out-of-towner after the show, "But that crowd was better than Philly." And shucks, right here in Backstreets' backyard. Color us proud. Color us impressed. Color us all the moreso after such a middling start. An inspired turnaround, an inspiring show.

I'm so fucking pumped to see the boss and the band at the old barn tomorrow. Should be a good time. I sooooooo hope they play thunder road. I got a gut feeling this will be a very good show like 3-4 hours of bruce. My seats suck so that's kind a downer but oh well. Ill enjoy the band and a night off from work

    me too !
my 1st show of this tour.
look for the guy in the NYR jersey,
down in the PIT close to the Bossman.
Oh and I will be making signs for the request portion of the show,....,
alltho i dont know which song to suggest .
I was thinking , if i were trying to stump E Street, of adding a Pearl Jam tune in the requests.
    Can you imagine ?

    I was there
    ( so was Ed )
alltho if i were to do this, Better Man would be the wisest choice.

Even if Ed isnt there, like Metsy said , theyve played it previously .
Even tho , Bruce had a hard time even with the 1 little verse he took on , its still ed signing the opening and closing parts.
( you can tell this is somewhat improvised )
Must say the highlight of this night was Ed singing Darkness On The Edge of Town with E S B .
    That was just sick !

songs that will not get played:

    absolute fantastic night for me.
    the number drawn was 215.
    I had 520.
I was in the front Pit , with ample space and room on stevies side, towards the rear, on the raling by the camera guy .
    absolute sick setlist.
    We got Rosie, Jungleland,
fuck we got just about all of B2R
with the exception of thunderroad, and backstreets.

ghost of tom joad toight was drastically different then the previous night at Pete Seegers birthday , just for the addition of Nils on the guitar tonight--- and he fucking went off.
Bruce even said something to the effect of " the greatest guitarist in the world " .
    no joke !

we got 2 tour premieres with the cover Expressway To Your Heart ( blah )
and Rendevouz ( pretty good ) . They try to make it spontaneous with the signs and all, but while on the GA libne outside we clearly heard Ex'wy to Your Heart being sound checked for a good 20 minutes ( if not more ) .

The Wrestler is a very touching and emotional song ( at least for me it twas ) performed live .
    It was a highlight.

During Jungleland it was funny hearing to BOOs when " The Rangers had a homecoming " was sung.
I screamed the Rangers part myself.
    :)

we also got 2 closers to end the night.

    DITD and then Rosie.

The crowd was so into it that Bruce wanted to reward them with one more song. Also nice since the crew had to get going to go the 350-plus miles to Charlottesville tomorrow.
Hand-written setlist had "Glody Days" with a question mark before it and "Dancin" with a ? after it.
"Night" was not on the setlist and the only thing not played was "Thunder Road" which was in the slot after Jungleland.

Soundcheck heard the band run through "Expressway To Your Heart" as well as "Secret Agent Man" and "Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu" two songs done by Johnny Rivers. Guess Bruce may be on a Johnny Rivers kick after playing "Seventh Son" in Greensboro on Sunday.

    Perfect Night !

sick isnt even the word to describe this concert bathy. the energy from the crowd, the band was on fire and we even got max to. i've been to many concerts and thought bout this one for a few days and for me this was the greatest concert i've ever been to. i was in section 339 and had an awesome view of the stage. that solo by nils in the ghost of tom jones was sick, i had chills. i also thought the fan request signs were cool. it was good to see some rare songs requested. love when he dissed the great balls of fire song. the old barn rocked. when he went on and on bout old arena's, i yelled build a new coliseum from the top of my lungs. it got a few laughs from people around me.

I am too tired to write much, but I think you'll appreciate the significance of getting E Street Shuffle last night in Toronto. The signs that were played included Louie Louie, Prove It All Night, Racing in the Streets (cool, cool sign, with a car that headlights that actually lit up in the dark - the guy who made it posts at backstreets), and Radio Nowhere.

I was slightly behind the stage on the side, and it was fine - very close, and seeing them from the back didn't matter at all. Its not like I didn't know the songs!

    wow
these setlists are evolving into total surprises everynight on tour !

    Setlists: 2009

May 8 / Bryce Jordan Center / University Park, PA
Notes: Returning to Pennsylvania, where they'll play yet again next Friday night under the lights in Hershey, Bruce and the band (minus Jay and Patti) seized the opportunity to play to a crowd that appeared evenly split between college students—many of whom had just finished exams and only had to cross the street from their dorm room to see the show—and seasoned Bruce fans. Maybe moreso than on other shows of the tour, Springsteen continued to blur the barriers between the band and the crowd, spending a great deal of time down at the foot of the stage, interacting with the increasing amount of young fans in the pit, or playing to the raucous fans seated behind the stage.

Big news for everyone wondering where the new album went: the State College stop brought the tour premiere of "This Life," in the spot usually reserved for "Kingdom of Days." It translated well to a live setting (even if it appeared to go mostly unappreciated by the sold-out crowd), featuring practically the entire band harmonizing at the end, but without the vocal instruction for the crowd that took a bit of the air out of the song during the Asbury Park rehearsals. Thumbs up.

The mid-set sign request slots brought the tour premiere of "Ramrod"—with the always enjoyable Bruce and Stevie shtick—followed by a truly on-the-spot cover of The Who's "My Generation." Bruce, Steve and Nils held an extended conference to work out the proper key and chord changes, and the p-p-p-performance featured several impressive solos from a smiling Garry, who seemed to relish the chance to take on John Entwistle's classic bass line.

Finally, the encore sent the entire crowd home happy—and Penn State students off into their summer vacation on a high note—with a frat-party inducing, roof-raising set of closers after "American Land" led off by the tour premiere of "Bobby Jean," which was followed by on-stage, unsetlisted audibles of "Detroit Medley" and "Wooly Bully."
