IMO, Smokey sounds like a roller coaster...like when the car is being pulled up the track...like that cranking sound. And, in S1 Rose said it reminded her of a sound she heard growing up...and I believe she said she's from Brooklyn. You East Coasters will have to enlighten us...
Then Ben turned it loose on Widmore's men after they killed Alex.
Haven't figured it out yet but it's not smoke and it's not a monster."The stars are all connected to the brain."0 -

VERRRY true. Those two facts we know for certain! AND...if you don't run from it, it leaves you alone (i.e. Locke). ANNNNNNNNNND it gives you flashes of your life...as it did with Mr. Eko.This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper0 -

Also, for some reason I thought they built the fence to protect them from the monster (aka, it was built specifically for the monster)??This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper0 -

Yeah, I liked that too, just about the only thing I liked about the meeting in the church. So much build up to that and then so little revelation.
There WAS no revelation. Nothing that woman said made any sort of sense...(other than her comment about Ben lying). "So yeah, in order to get back to the island you need to recreate the Oceanic flight as best as you can...and the 06 all need to be there...well yeah...except for Aaron...and oh, yeah...Ben's going to be on the flight even though he wasn't initally...and another thing, Locke is dead and is going to play Christian on this flight...so you need something of your dad's...shoes? great!...and look, they're a perfect fit!" COME ON!
But instead we just see this lamp swinging around (I kept waiting for it to hit Desmond) and hearing a bunch of blather about recreating the flight and taking Locke along. It just got sillier and sillier. Desmond made more sense than anybody, telling them they were all crazy to want to go back. When Mrs. Hawking told Desmond that the island wasn't through with him she could have elaborated a little but the way she was explaining it there wasn't anything else for him to do but walk out. If they'd all had any sense, that's what they would have done as well.
Then Ben is up in the church "praying" when Jack finds him? And he tells Jack all about the Apostle Thomas! Uh, maybe I'm assuming a lot because of my Catholic upbringing but has Jack never heard the expression "doubting Thomas" before? Jack did go to med school so I expect he has a fairly high IQ, hello? Unless Christian paid somebody to take his entrance exams.
I guess I'm overthinking this episode too much."The stars are all connected to the brain."0 -

Since he was supposed to be the leader maybe it is protecting him. Also do you believe that Smokey takes on the bodies of some people sometimes. WALT, Goodwin's wife, etc...0 -

Was Jack Catholic? I can't remember. I don't think his family was religious.
I was raised Catholic, even went to Catholic school....and didn't know the story of Thomas the Apostle. (But then again, I'm a shitty Catholic.)This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper0 -

Another thing...way back in S1, Smokey tried to take Locke underground and he was ok with it...but Jack & Kate saved him. Does anyone remember that? This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper0 -
