The boys looked nice this weekend but we also have to look at the opponents. They put two teams away that they should. Let's hope Marty is regaining his form from late last season and that the penalties stay at a minimum. I like the way this team is shaping up and with Briere coming back soon it looks like a nice playoff run could be in the cards.... It's also nice seeing the Pens sputter around this season

They hardly had to work for that second win, no thanks to the ineptness and lack of work ethic demonstrated by the Rangers. I knew what was coming on that first goal when Lundqvist had to scramble to cover the net and there were five blueshirts standing there watching.

I am in agreement with you on enjoying the Penguins sputter, especially since the networks and league bow down to Sidney Crosby. That being said, it's not the coaches fault, it's the general manager's fault that Crosby's linemates are immortals such as Tyler Kennedy and Pascal Dupuis..

If the Flyers make any moves it will be to dump salary not add salary... and I don't see a major move or need in this teams future.

He's a free agent I believe in the off season

If we play better team defense we can get by with Biron I think

As long as Biron plays the way he did down the stretch last year and in the playoffs. This is a better defense in front of him, but we still turn the puck over too much and don't clear the zone as well as we should (also a fault of the forwards). If they can make the simple plays, and play their game, this team can make a nice run in the playoffs.

That's what kills this team !

Just like yesterday...I know Biron was at fault for the 5th goal but the D in the zone is weak

I keep reading on other message boards try and get Backstrom..but they're a defense first team (MIN) and this team certainly is not so he will get hung out to dry like Biron

In a way I can't blame Biron for that goal last night... he had to get up and try to get rid of the puck. Someone should have been standing there either telling him to stay down on it and take the penalty or to just leave the puck there and skate away. Instead, Biron trys to flip the puck out of the zone from his glove and the puck basically stays in the glove... and how does Crosby get to the puck before Carle??? how???

I like Richards response after the game and hopefully they learn from it... "usually we find a way to win these type of games, but that 2nd period really cost us tonite"

Didn't see a lick of the game...just the highlights

I hear Nitty played well and kept them in it for a bit ?

Nitty played well early... the Flyers hit a few posts in the first and couldn't cash in on the PP... missed some opportunities in the 2nd but played well defensively and then plugged away till the flood gates opened. It was a nice hard fought effort for 60 minutes without you're best D-man. A nice win especially after the loss on Sat.

Tons of fun last night, even when they couldn't bury a chance to save their lives in the first two periods. I was worried about Niitty early - he was moving around and overreacting to much - but he settled down after awhile. I honestly don't know why teams bother going low, as he has some of the quickest feet in the league, and his glove hand is somewhat suspect. Also, I know his numbers are better, but I still feel more comfortable with Biron. One guy who's driving me nuts is Lupul. It shouldn't take a demotion to the third line for a guy to show up to play. I've hung my hat on him since his Anaheim days, but his inconsistency and apparent unwillingness to play hard for games on end are too much anymore. With Giroux coming up and Briere coming back, I wouldn't mind seeing Lupul shipped out next week.

I agree...but Lupul wont bring much back by himself in a trade

I bet they hold tight at the deadline

What??? Lupul and Lehtonen in Atl have a similar contract, we can trade them straight up... ;)

Vaananen and Metro put on waivers today to help make room for Briere... Metro will probably clear... still moves need to be made to make space for Briere... most likely Powe and/ or Giroux down to the Phantoms although I think Homer will do his best to keep Claude with the big club.

Rumor... Flyers to make play for Jay Bouwmeester....

Would you trade Gagne and Lupul for Bouwmeester??? I wouldn't part with Giroux under any circumstance, especially not to rent a guy for a few months....

Eeek...I hope Homer doesn't trade for Lehtonen

    That would be a mistake

He would have to be a magician to pull something off

I thought I read FLA didn't want salary back just prospects and draft picks ??

I would make that trade in a heart beat...as long as Jay Bo signs a long term deal

Yeah I heard that too... guess it will come down to what FLA wants and what the Flyers are willing to part with...

and if they made that deal, the Flyers HAVE to sign Jay Bo to a long term deal...
