It's not like I CHOSE to be paid under the table.
These comments and claims of hypocrisy are utterly ridiculous.
THERE IS NOTHING TO CLAIM IF YOU ARE PAID UNDER THE TABLE.
THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE TERM "UNDER THE TABLE."
And while you may be LEGALLY an adult , you sure haven't responded to US here in an adult manner. If the attitude shown here is any indication of who you are as a person , then had you worked for me you ass would have been canned in the first week. Bent out of shape , even if only on the day you were let go , from a job you EARNED less than 600 in TWO months is incredible to me.

I've been fired from about 5 jobs - I've lost count. Fuck jobs! I only have to work for about 6 hours a week at the moment and get paid a full weeks wage. Ha Ha! Fuck all my ex-'bosses'!0

forget about the IRS finding you - aren't you a tiny bit worried about your old boss finding you if you turn him in? it wouldn't be difficult to put 2 and 2 together....

DewieCox wrote:They don't cross reference everybody's taxes. Things like you filing your earnings from him is what will get him audited. There is something to claim, taxes from the $600 you earned.
Wrong. I earned less than that amount. There is nothing to claim. There is no proof or record that I ever worked there. He could be easily audited for continuously and repeatedly avoiding paying any taxes whatsoever on his illegitimate business he's been running for a long time, 10-20 years. He has screwed the government out of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Heineken Helen & Dunkman - Thank you. Finally, some people with some sense, who don't like to argue for the sake of arguing and be mean to a fellow Pearl Jam fan after he has lost his job in a shitty economy, no less. A lot of you have shown your true colors and I am sickened.
Speedy McCready - You're an idiot. If karma is any indication, you will get what you deserve.purple_chick79 wrote:The next job you have, learn to watch your mouth. Like everyone else said, have fun with the IRS. They will find you. This guy is trying to make a living, just like the rest of us, it's HIS buisness they way he wants to do it. It's a little immature to go rat him out cuz you fucked up.
Once, when I was 18, I got fired from a gas station for stealing money from the registar. The only thing I really stole was food and smokes. I never took cash. Well, OK I said, whatever. So, I went to turn in my uniform and get my paycheck and they told me I had to pay it back! HAHAHAHAAA....I told that little asshole to kiss my ass, I aint payin shit, and I left.
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on. You will be fine.
Don't even try to tell me what to do. Don't compare yourself to me. I made an absolutely harmless joke not directed at anyone in particular. You're a thief who stole. HUGE difference.
FOR THE LAST TIME, I AM NOT GOING TO THE IRS. I HAVE SAID THIS NUMEROUS TIMES BUT MOST OF YOU DON'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO READ. I WAS SIMPLY ANGRY IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT AFTER LOSING MY JOB AND WEIGHING MY OPTIONS AS TO WHAT I MIGHT DO.
I find it pretty ironic that a lot of you are saying I'm not acting like an adult when nothing could be further from the truth. Talk about putting words in my mouth and not reading/comprehending what I am saying!mickeyrat wrote:YES it is/was that you chose to be paid under the table. After the first "check" being paid in cash , from that point on you were complicit! One could even argue that , from the first day you worked you were complicit , in that you didn't fill out an app, tax forms, etc. And yes there is something to claim if paid under the table. You DID receive monies for work perfomed , right? Whether or not you received a 1099 is irrelevant.

Wrong. I did not CHOOSE to be paid under the table. I am obviously not in charge of how I am paid if I am working for somebody else. Once again, I have ALREADY clarified that it was not a check but in fact cash. I was not complicit because I thought for sure there would be a 1099 form given to me which never happened because my former boss is a crook. There is nothing to claim when 1. I earned less than 600 dollars and 2. There is no proof or record that I ever worked there.
I am acting like a totally normal adult. You have no call to tell me otherwise. You don't know me. I am probably more mature than you. Don't tell me what would happen if I worked for you. I am not bent out of shape. You people have repeatedly put words in my mouth incorrectly. I have stated numerous, numerous times that I am not bent out shape. I was simply upset the day the firing occured and letting off some steam. It's always bad when you lose your job but especially bad when it's in this economy. I give everyone the respect of reading what they say, you can do the same for me and stop making false and incorrect accusations and comments.Lucifer wrote:I just want to ask about 2 things in the intial post

Who knows what they are jealous about? That might not be the case. I stated in my original post that I wasn't sure if that was the case, but it sure seemed like it at times. Everyone seemed to complain about me when they were doing the same things. A lot of insecurity brewing. If people were really secure and comfortable with themselves, they wouldn't feel the need to jump on others.
I am more than likely NOT talking him to small claims court. Again, as I've said, I was ranting in the heat of the moment and weighing my options. I could take him to court because it's illegal to pay under the table and his business could be shut down. Yes, this may affect me as well, having been a former employee of his, but the most affected person would be him.covered in bliss wrote:forget about the IRS finding you - aren't you a tiny bit worried about your old boss finding you if you turn him in? it wouldn't be difficult to put 2 and 2 together....

No I am not worried about my old boss finding me. He doesn't even have my address. All he has is my name and cell number. I could change my cell number easily (which I won't). I actually have more information on him than he has on me. I know his name, cell number, home number, the cars he drives, who his older brother is, his brother's number and address and have a friend who was also a former employee who knows where he lives. Not saying I would do anything about that, I'm saying I know way more on him.
He is fucking with my livelihood by firing me! Realistically, the opposite of what you're saying is really the truth. I've got nothing to lose. I'm just some young kid. He is a married man with a house, daughter, cars and tons of money.0 -

It seems to me that you are missing two important points here: 1) you were an employee at will which meant your employer could fire you at any moment for any reason whatsoever. That's it. You have no recourse to being fired. 2) you are responsible to report any income earned over the course of the year to the IRS. If your employer does not report your income it is still your responsibility to pay taxes on whatever amount you earned. And yes, you do have a choice whether or not to accept your paycheck under the table. You can either ask to have taxes deducted or decline the job. This is your notice that there is a problem with your signature. Please remove it.

no probs.. there's very little worse than when you're down, come on here for a rant and then have people jump down your throat thinking they know everything about the situation and reading into any little word whilst ignoring the words where you already answered them  . There are plenty of cool people here, sometimes I still rant and there will be fuckers who respond to it thinking I wanted them to analyse the situation and get their opinion... when all ya really want is 'that's shit, I'm sorry'.

If his business was shut down , then more people than just him and his family would be affected. The other people who work there would also be affected. But fuck them , they were jealous right?
And further , you being the adult you claim , would know that not NOT filling out a w-4 or any forms for that matter would be suspicious.
Please explain what small claims court would do for you , IF you were to go that route?_____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________

Who's fucking who over??? Both parties here are making out on the deal by fucking over the government and its citizens by not paying into unemployment, social security and other benefits. Both are responsible to report earning to the government so both are guilty of circumventing income tax law. This is your notice that there is a problem with your signature. Please remove it.

All I'm saying is that you'd think someone who's illegally employing would be more careful about how they treat their staff.. but strangely it never seems to work that way :?

That's my point.. the employer can treat employees any way he wants for the sheer fact that both the employee and employer are breaking the law. If the employee wants to turn the employer in for paying under the table, that is fine. But the employee will also be subject to having to pay taxes on any income they earned while being paid under the table. This is your notice that there is a problem with your signature. I won't comment on the rest but please take a little advice from an accountant. I make a living doing this so I do know a little about what I'm talking about. As many people have said, you do have to pay taxes on the money you earned regardless of whether you filed out a W-2 and a 1099. It's still income and you still have to report it. I don't know where you get the whole $600 or two month idea but it's wrong. I don't care if you claim it or not but please stop saying that you are doing nothing wrong by not reporting it.0

I would just go back there with the bottle literally up my ass and be like, "look dude, it's really up there, and i think Tolik put it there!"
or maybe i would just move on and get another job.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0 -
Whatever happened to forgive and forget and just move on?
Fuck...forget the forgiving part, who gives a shit...just man up and move on for yourself. Who cares about anything or anyone else? If you become more focused on others, then you're going to live a long sad life. Focus on you, and do what's best for you. Work sucks dude, and if this is how you're going to take a job at a car wash, then you're going to have a shitty time with whatever career you get as well. With more responsibility you get as you move on, the more dumb shit you have to deal with.
Responsibility for ourselves seems to be a thing of the past. :roll:0 -
