I agree that it is kind of like a job interview...and I handle myself pretty well in interviews...but dating, not so much...I tend to be quiet and shy when I'm nervous...or overcompensate by talking way too much. :( No wonder I'm single.

I actually went on a date once and the guy was just like "you're not interested in me, are you?" and I was like, "no not really." and we just ended it there.

If only it could always be that simple. Wouldn't that make life alot easier?

The last date I went on the guy straight out told me that he didn’t like black people. (He wasn’t that nice in putting it though) He than asked me if that was a deal breaker. Yep the check came very shortly after that.

Exactly...my very next words would be "Check please".

oh...i do the same thing! i tend to ramble a lot when i get nervous...want to avoid awkward silences. i'm sure guys think i'm a bit strange?! i haven't been on a "date" in six months....though i'm fine with that. i'd rather avoid all of the bs that goes along with dating. just be upfront with your intentions, and spare misleading people. makes things easier!
yes...i do feel like a human. i do not feel like a tree.
  • is there a way to get a boyfriend without dating? I was thinking this morning that I wouldn't mind a boyfriend at the moment, but dating blah.

I think dating is kinda fun. I just don't usually do the "standard date" like going out to dinner. I like to go out for drinks. That way if you know you really are not compatable right off the bat you can just finish your drink and bid the person a good night. With dinner you have to get through the entire meal.....and that is UNCOMFORTABLE.

Dinners at nice restaurants should come later in the relationship anyway. (Sorry if this seems cheap but it's just how I feel)

Nope, not cheap but it makes sense... total sense. 'Dating' doesn't really happen like that over here. Ya usually just arrange to go for drinks and maybe something to eat LATER if it went well and you're both completely hammered :D . Dinner is WAY too much pressure. At least if your drink date isn't going well, you can make excuses after 1 or 2 or try and socialise 'accidentally' or start including the barman in your conversation or something. If you know from the beginning at dinner that it's not going well, you're stuck with him for maybe an hour and a half

i have to agree....it's not fun....unless it's someone i'm really excited about - which is rare - and then i end up getting nervous and dorky.

When I was single I loved it.
And if I find myself single again, I will love it even more.
    ;)
Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

:D It can be excellent... the endless opportunities :) It's also fun to come up with different things to do rather than the pressurised one on one situations, there's plenty of fun stuff.

So I actually talked to the girl today because we are going on a date tomorrow..

She sounds kind of slow.. not much to talk about..

    Not my type..

Do I go on the date anyways???

I don't want to be mean nor make any judgements, but I'm already not liking the idea of spending time with her.

Should I just entertain her and explain I don't think thinks would work?

I'm seriously going out with her just because.. Should be interesting.

dating is a predominantly North American thing.

all that getting to base shit as well... i have no idea how that works.. but over here if i had a date with a girl, which meant that i paid for a meal, drinks, whatever i'd be hoping for more than a quick grope of a boob... if she gave me a slight peck on the cheek then thats when calls would be unanswered, texts never replied to.. £70 for a night out and a peck on the cheek?!?!? i could have had 11 lapdances for that... and still have enough left for a kebab on the way home.

most couples over here meet during a night-out... usually they are both drunk... usually they do stuff to each other.

americans have the dating system... the UK and Ireland have the alcohol system... :)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

yeah I know people who have too. That's how it worked in college-people just somehow paired up instantly. but I never had a boyfriend in college. I've never been able to figure out how you do it.
