Dammit!! :(
Name a time where she is NOT unhappy. PLEASE.
People just try to give her helpful advice and she refuses to believe it and thinks she knows everything. There was no reason for her outburst.
And this thread will probably be closed soon.0 -

GreenTeaDisease wrote:there was an article in scientific amercian this past september (actually, I think it was pretty much the whole issue) that backs up everything I've said here. don't try to dispute it until you've looked it up.
i once read a magazine article that global warming was a myth... i also read another one that said it was definitely happening... its called opinion.
i read one of your threads looking for advice on whether you should play the guitar again after a 10 year break... people gave advice and you shot them down on that thread as well...
you've asked for advice from people on a healthy snack and yet you've read scientific magazines proclaiming 1 piece of fruit per day is enough and that fruit should only be a locally available fruit, etc etc etc.
dont ask for advice if the advice received is always going to be routinely debunked by you every time.
surely that scientific magazine gave an indication of what was an OK snack for you. or ask a qualified nutritionist... instead of asking us folks here on the forum.. after all, we appear to be very unhelpful :(oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -
GreenTeaDisease wrote:well I already eat one fruit per day and supposedly you're not supposed to have more than that (fruit isn't as good for you as people think).
That is just so wrong, five portions of Fruit and Veg a day kid, trust me I'm a gynaechologist.:)

GreenTeaDisease wrote:I used to eat a banana every day for the potassium (and because it gave me enough energy to get through a late-day work out), and my trainer freaked out and told me that I would never lose a pound if I ate bananas. I've since learned he was overreacting as trainers often do, but I've been terrified of bananas ever since. I'll only eat them after a race, and possibly before a soccer game.
but as far as the fruit thing goes, I'm serious, look it up. fruit is good for you, but you can get way more fiber with less sugar from vegetables and whole grains. anything good you can get from a fruit, you can get better from a vegetable.
He probably just meant that bananas are one of the most fattening fruit's of all, along with Avacado. It doesn't mean it's ACTUALLY fattening. Certainly no more than peanuts, apparently. (I'm not sure about other types of nuts).
Could you not make a nice salad with maybe raw bean sprouts, celery, and... whatever? I had this the other day and it was really nice. I can't remember what else was in it though.
Maybe noodles? They're basicly just made of water.0 -
Instead of rice cakes Quaker makes a multi grain mini. They are yummy and you can eat a bunch of them.
I'm all about baby carrots.
Or....fat free cottage cheese with cinnamon and sweetener of your choice.
Nuts are healthy. But they are fattening.
And bottom line...It really IS... Calories IN vs calories out.
As my dad always said. You never see a fat prisoner of war. If you are burning 800 calories a day (at the gym alone) and consuming 1000 YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT. End of story.
When I really want/have to lose weight I try to keep myself as close to calorie neutral as possible. Might not be the best way to do things. But it's science.VERY SIMPLE SCIENCE.
Remember the POW?sometimes life don't leave you alone0 -
GreenTeaDisease wrote:that's not true in the LEAST. it is ESSENTIAL for healthy eating habits to eat something efficient every 4-5 hours, or else 1) you get overly hungry and pig out when you do get to eat and to compound that 2) your body thinks it needs to store up for long periods so your metabolism slows way down and you gain fat. No one has gone by the "no snacking between meals" axiom for decades.
I know a guy who eats *once* a day. He is the fattest person I know.
If you eat every 4-5 hours, it's called a MEAL. You don't need to snack in between them. The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.0 -
GTD, I honestly don't think you'll lose a pound or will be that healthy if you keep following the advice you are given. For someone who lives where supposedly the best doctors of the country are, you sure have met your string of shitty doctors/trainers/psychologists.... and the will to show I will always be better than before.0

You should eat (approx) 5 - 6 400 calorie (balanced meals) every 3 hours if you want to see the quickest results. That's 5 meals a day for women 6 meals a day for men. Around 4 hours if no protein goes in, your body will start to burn muscle tissue looking for aminos, lose muscle gain fat...
Eat this many times a day, and you will not need to snack on anything. This is what all the leanest people in the world do.
"burn the fat feed the muscle" by Tom Venuto. Read it... twice. That's how it is done.Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,

This too much fruit thing is bullshit.
Total Bullshit.
Evry year during the holidays I eat bad for obvious reasons, but after I get back on my healthy eat habits.
five days a week for breakfast I have protein shake with a whole banana, whole orange, 5 strawberries and a handful of blueberries mixed with protein. For lunch have a huge salad mixed with all healthy stuff, oil and Vin.
As a snack I use my juicer to make a drink out of Carrots, Celery, Cuks, and other stuff.
Point is that even in the summer I eat a lot of fruit (alot of Bananas) and i stay pretty fit.
I don't buy that to manyfruits shit. Yea they have a lot of sugar but its different. EAT HEALHY YOU WILL BE HEATHY PERIOD.
Pretend you are a cave man. Ever see one thats fat? LOL
Oh I eat plenty of CHicken and other meats. I eat plenty of assorted nuts b/c I own a nut store.
BTW...GTD you said you eat nuts at work. What kind? Reason I ask is that most nuts you buy from say PLanters are cooked in oil. Same say you cook french fries. FYI Healthy nuts are raw onesGet em a Body Bag Yeeeeeaaaaa!

You're taking out all the good stuff. All that fiber is whats going to give you the best thermic effect by eating, also makes you fuller on less cals, and keeps the metabolism accelerated. If you're in the single digit bodyfat range with this method congrats on the genetic gifting, and by all means juice away.Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
