I think your friends have probably been drinking that kinda water for years and yet they are still skinny... it's not like its some new craze they are into.

it is, they had never tried it before that weekend. but I have seen some of them drink coke in the past.
  • I would worry less about calories in and more about calories out :)

Food is like sex. If there's no pleasure, there's no point.

there's no reason to worry about calories per se, calories mean energy. I've never worried about calories. if you are hungry, it means you need them, that's how it works. (I've never understood all this "low calorie food" business...it's such marketing crap. if you are requiring 200 calories, and you eat 100, you're still going to be hungry). You need to think about eating EFFICIENTLY. That's why I don't like the cherry tomato idea- they don't have ENOUGH calories or any protein. what is the point of eating if you're not getting anything out of it?

for example, nuts have a lot of calories- they are an efficient food. meaning, you only need to eat a very small amount to get enough calories, protein, fat, and carbs to satisfy you. If you eat too much of a food like nuts, you will be eating too many calories. and if you are not satisfied after your snack, you will keep eating until you are. best to get it right the first time.

    Spoiled grapes.

I like string cheese, pears, grape tomatoes.
My son and I love tofu. You don't even have to cook it. We eat it raw. There is an awesome localish place that makes it. I love it just plain or with some tamari.

yeah I'll have to figure out a way to transport a tofu square with me all day.

I can't eat things like tamari, garlic, or any of the other tofu-with things people have mentioned, so I like to buy baked tofu squares.

trainers and nutritionists. the nutritionist said it's ok to eat anything really, and I shouldn't be so strict, but she did confirm that people do not need as much fruit as is commonly thought (especially in colder climates- it's not natural for us to have access to so much fruit). Plus, eating high glycemic fruits is generally bad for anyone. I stick to apples, pears, oranges/clementines, and cherries in the summer. I don't think my body process sugars very well, so eating too much fruit seems to be very bad for me. Can't freaking eat oranges now though which is pissing me off- I have had acne surrounding my mouth for months now and eating an orange is just plain torturing myself.

I am finding it difficult to believe that nutritionists are suggesting no more than one fruit a day. That is just plain weird. Fruits contain fiber...essential for good health.
High glycemic fruits generally bad for anyone??? Again...no.
If a bananna has gotten overripe and is full of sugar, yes, probably not the best choice. But keep in mind the amount of potassium (beneficial for people that work out) and fiber.
I am not understanding this and hope no one reads the one fruit idea and takes it as scripture.

i think you're reading way too much into this.

if you eat 2000 calories in a day and burn 2001 calories then you're fine.

no need to over analyse everything.

I used to eat a banana every day for the potassium (and because it gave me enough energy to get through a late-day work out), and my trainer freaked out and told me that I would never lose a pound if I ate bananas. I've since learned he was overreacting as trainers often do, but I've been terrified of bananas ever since. I'll only eat them after a race, and possibly before a soccer game.

but as far as the fruit thing goes, I'm serious, look it up. fruit is good for you, but you can get way more fiber with less sugar from vegetables and whole grains. anything good you can get from a fruit, you can get better from a vegetable.

your body needs sugar, fructose, glucose, sucrose.. call it what you will.. simple biology that.

and no vegetable can match blueberries or pomegranates for their anti-oxidant qualities.

eat a balanced diet.. keyword being balanced... your body needs certain things.. dairy is bad for you, but you NEED it otherwise you are going to be deficient in calcium... red meat is bad for you apparently... but we need iron and protein.

only eating 1 piece of fruit flies in the face of every piece of nutritional information that is being delivered to every schoolkid in the UK... my daughter has a chart to fill in that means she reaches her 5 a day quota... this 5 a day has been recommended by a team of nutrionists based in London somewhere, not some meathead gym trainer who can't count to 17

YES, but you don't need that MUCH. When did I say you shouldn't eat fruit???

I didnt say you said you shouldnt eat fruit

this kinda implied there was such a thing as "too much fruit"

but as I said.. all the 14.8 million kids in our schools are being taught that they should be eating up to 5 fruit or veg a day.

now that could be 4 fruit and 1 veg.

I mean how can eating 2 apples and a handful of grapes be deemed "un-nutritional".

i think i'll stick to how we're doing it.. good luck finding your snacks ... what about frozen dust? :);)

Give it a rest will you with this nonsense..Fruit is not the fucking problem, it's the OTHER shit people eat..Give me a break..It's like ordering a super sized Big Mac and Fries but better make that a diet coke cause you're watching your weight..Generally speaking, the more fruits and veggies in your diet the better..As for Bananas, I eat at least 2 per day no problem...and guess what, even when I was boxing and had to make weight, bananas didn't stand in the way..lol..it's a fucking fruit..Stop reading all the dumb useless literature etc..and get back to basics..thanks....or you can continue listening to the idiot meathead at your gym as suggested by Dunk :)..

These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.
  • if your body cant find a use for the complex sugars in the fruit - then you may gain weight. but generally speaking - your body has to work for the sugars...so unless you have a seriously messed up metabolic system fruit should be fine for a snack...However, I agree that if you go for 5 fruits and veggies and you pile in more veggies than fruits you will be fine...but limiting fruits to one per day is a little silly.

and the 5 a day helps to ensure balanced diets...i actually eat what would equate to about 10 portions of veggies/fruits per day.

serving sizes of the fruit also matter...a very large apple may actually be 2 servings.

raspberries have about 1 calorie apiece so take a pint of raspberries to the office. Or celery with minimal peanut butter. Carrots are another decent snack.
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.
