I need ideas for healthy, efficient snacks to bring to work. The only thing I can ever think of is nuts and we already have a big supply of those in the office. I've been eating a handful of nuts for my snack for like 8 years and frankly I'm a bit sick of it. whatelse can I eat???

    Veggies, Fruit.

Something like that should be healthy enough. God bless ya for trying, I still can't get away from the D&D's coffee and doughnuts.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

granola bars are EXTREMELY inefficient. bad, bad snacks.

well I already eat one fruit per day and supposedly you're not supposed to have more than that (fruit isn't as good for you as people think). I guess I could do veggies...just such a pain to keep fresh and whatnot...what kind of veggies should I get? I'm not a HUGE carrot fan, celery?...I'm blanking...what else? raw broccoli and brussel sprouts I only like when dipped in hummus. hmmm...geez, you'd think it would be easier to think of vegetables.

p.s. if I ate doughnuts for my snack I would literally weigh about 400 lbs! :) (I already weigh 200 and I haven't had a doughnut...I dunno since college???) I would eat them though if I could, you are lucky!

A little bit of dried fruit usually works. Personal favorites are figs and dates.

eh, we've got them here with the nuts. I find dried fruit to be too sweet and sugary.

well there are cereal bars..maybe a healthier option. I usually just eat nuts or fruit. Sometime I bring some yogurt in for the week.

ah yes, yogurt. dammit, I wish I could eat yogurt! all my problems would be solved!
I have NEVER been able to eat it, since I was a baby. I am unbelievably repulsed by the smell-like I have gag reflex when I smell someone eating it nearby. when I was in college I forced myself to eat a few bites because I wanted to like it because girls are supposed to like yogurt. I woke up in the middle of the night with horrible stomach cramps!

Oreos with some chocolate milk to wash it down with.

Actually, I'd just get those portable yogurt smoothie things... those are good. Well, good tasting at least.

that's actually an interesting idea...I'll just have to remember to do it! (and not be too lazy to do it!). I've got a pile of tofu I haven't been eating for some reason (which is bad, because without eating tofu, those stupid nuts and a piece of cheese are my only protein!)

if you cut them into thin cubish sort of shapes, and drain them well - you dont need to use much oil, and they get crispy...

I usually use sea salt and crushed garlic to flavour - but I have used sugar and cinnamon to flavor if you are more of a sweet tooth.

have you tried eating Quorn brand "chicken" for protein? it is really good - and it is made from microbiotic fungus...wait, here: http://www.quorn.us/

it is really good...and you can eat it for your protein.

by the way steer clear of "protein water" they have way too much hidden sugar.

I wouldn't have snacks lying around. It just promotes eating all day.

oh god yeah I never drink any of that shit...well ok, I do indulge in an "energy" vitamin water before a late night soccer game or else I'm pooped by half time. (note: this equals about 5 vitamin waters per year).

some of my skinny friends were guzzling vitamin water when we went away for the weekend. I'm like you do realize that's packed with sugar? and they're like "oh no, I don't read labels."

how can you not read labels!?!!?!?!?!

that's not true in the LEAST. it is ESSENTIAL for healthy eating habits to eat something efficient every 4-5 hours, or else 1) you get overly hungry and pig out when you do get to eat and to compound that 2) your body thinks it needs to store up for long periods so your metabolism slows way down and you gain fat. No one has gone by the "no snacking between meals" axiom for decades.

I know a guy who eats *once* a day. He is the fattest person I know.

It has a lot of calories..you are better off drinking plain water.

why do they need to read the label... you just said they were skinny? if they read the label they'd be even skinnier... then that'd be your fault for making them read boring stuff

EVERYONE should read labels. don't you want to know what kind of shit you are putting into your body??? they won't be skinny for long if they keep guzzling sugar water! (it's not exactly like they exercise it off!)

    raisins dont have labels.

I think your friends have probably been drinking that kinda water for years and yet they are still skinny... it's not like its some new craze they are into.

    :p
    Spoiled grapes.

I like string cheese, pears, grape tomatoes.
My son and I love tofu. You don't even have to cook it. We eat it raw. There is an awesome localish place that makes it. I love it just plain or with some tamari.
