Meatball alert! Monster of the Midway!
I stand by my prediction of the Twins being 3 games behind the Sox when thier 14 game trip ends.
Sox have a chance tommorow to pick up a game and a half on the Twins if they win the makeup and the scheduled game in Baltimore. Hopefully they do just that.www.myspace.com/pitheory0 -

Same ump who blew that call in the 2005 ALCS.No longer overwhelmed it seems so simple now.0 -
Now, after seeing the replays many times, it clearly wasn't a good call. But how is that cheating? Cuz he knows the rules? Is it cheating when a basketball player draws a foul to shoot free throws? Cheating when a receiver falls down to get a pass interference call? It's a part of sports, putting yourself in a position to win games. Blame the ump for the call, not the game, and definitely not AJ.
And it is very strange that it was the same ump in both questionable AJ plays. Must have a man crush on him or something. But then again, neither call directly gave the Sox a W. Both times, players still had to execute to win the game, a la Joe Crede smashing one of the wall in 2005 and Alexi hitting a double down the line that would've scored two. In both situations, it was set-up by bonehead plays by the other team too, Upton dragging ass on a fly ball allowing AJ to tag to 2nd, and Josh Paul being a hot dog and rolling the ball back to the pitchers mound(before the ump made a strike three call) instead of tagging AJ. And it's also not like a it's guaranteed loss for the Sox in either situation. At worst, both games go into the next inning tied.He floated back down 'cause he wanted to share, his key to the locks on the chains he saw everywhere.0 -
It was heads up to even be in that position in the first place. AJ saw Upton dogging yet another play, and moved up into 2nd base.
Nice win today against Baltimore. Nice to see the pen protect a 1 run lead. Go M's!www.myspace.com/pitheory0 -

Amen brotha. Too bad they couldn't win that suspended game figuring they should've won it all the way back in May. But at this point, I'll take any win.

Floyd was awesome today.
Picked up a game on the Twinkies yesterday. Sox will pick up 2 more by next Monday.www.myspace.com/pitheory0 -
I was just thinking about this while watching the game last night, Kenny deserves a ton of credit for some of the moves he's made in the last two years. And now that Mariotti's gone, someone might actually give it to him. 4 of the Sox best players are pick-ups only Williams wanted, Quentin, Danks, Floyd, Ramirez, and look how they're coming through this year. I wish Swish would get his average up, but he's still gonna hit atleast 25 homers and 80 RBIs. And you can't measure what the guy brings to the clubhouse. There have been some other moves that have worked well too.
Frank, what do you think about the situation at 3rd for next year? Pretty sure Crede will be gone, but with the way Uribe's been playing, fielding atleast, doesn't seem all bad. And when's Fields gonna get his turn?
Be nice to win tonight and head into Fenway hot. Let's go Danks! He floated back down 'cause he wanted to share, his key to the locks on the chains he saw everywhere.0 -

Kenny definitely deserves a ton of credit. I was highly skeptical coming into this season. The thing I was most worried about were Floyd and Danks. Ans shockingly, those two have probably been our two most reliable starters all year. If it werent for the Rays and their amazing turnaround, Kenny would definitely be executive of the year.
As for 3rd, I'm not sold on Fields at all. His defense is brutal and he strikes out a TON. They might actually be able to bring Crede back at relatively cheap since I don't think many teams are going to be throwing tons of $ at him with those back issues. I say bring back Crede and Uribe and trade Fields..

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Crede fan, but I don't think I want him back. Unless they get him for cheap, but Boras is his agent and I'm sure he can find a big deal for him somewhere. Definitely keep Uribe, he has blown me away with his fielding and his hitting is good enough to keep him as a utility guy. I'm not sure what to think with Fields. Yes, his fielding is sub par. But then again, doesn't Crede lead the league in errors at 3rd? And Fields did hit 23 homers in 100 games last year, so who knows what his production could be with a full year starting. I expect Kenny to make a big run at Orlando Hudson this offseason, obviously move Alexi to SS, and then decide between Fields, Uribe or Crede at 3rd. I've also heard he's really high on Chone Figgins, so maybe he'll cut another deal with the Angels this offseason. We'll have to wait and see. I'd prefer not to trade Fields yet, cuz Crede sucked it up for a few seasons before he took off too.
Can't believe we're talking about next year right now, but damn do I love baseball. C'mon M's!He floated back down 'cause he wanted to share, his key to the locks on the chains he saw everywhere.0 -
Fields at 3rd if they can't sign Crede cheap. Dirt cheap. With his injuries and subpar performance from June til now, he should get a base of maybe $2-3 mil with incentives to get him to maybe $7 or 8 mil for the year. If he isn't willing to accept that, let him walk. A deal like that for Joe would be very low risk high reward for the Sox.
Keep Uribe around as a backup, or 2nd base. OC isn't coming back, so Alexi is the shortstop. The Sox could have a very very different lineup next year. If it were me, I'd go like this on Opening Day;
Alexi, SS
AJ, C
Quentin, LF
Dye, RF
Konerko, DH
Fields, 3B
Swisher, 1B
Anderson, CF
Uribe, 2B
Who knows what Kenny will do though. He may find some way to bring a Brian Roberts type guy over.
But in reality, I'll worry about this in February. I'm looking foward to watching the White Sox win another 11 games in October.www.myspace.com/pitheory0 -

I know, I don't know if I am mentally prepared for this. I remember how stressed out I was in 05 when we almost blew that 15 game lead. This back and forth stuff with the Twins is going to drive me crazy.....0 -
Don't have to face Beckett this weekend, which he is good cuz, even though he's been slumping a little, he owned us last time he faced us. Dice-K will be tough tonight, hopefully Javy continues his with his great month. Bats need to back him up. Looking ahead, both weekend games are very winnable, going against David Pauley and Wakefield. 2 outta 3 would be very nice.He floated back down 'cause he wanted to share, his key to the locks on the chains he saw everywhere.0
