And this is why I do not want a Windy City Series, cuz it will get too insane here.

As for the games, nobody is picking the Sox, they don't have home field and are playing a team with about 10 more regular season wins, so they can't really choke. If the Cubs fall anywhere short of a World Series, with all the gushing that has been going on around here, it will be the single most disappointing season in the history of baseball and a HUGE choke. Now that's pressure. Let the games begin.

Totally agree, I don't want a Windy City series either. Not so much cause I don't want to deal with all the typical Cubs-Sox bullshit that comes with it, cause it will be amplified to the millionth degree. I just don't want the chance of the Cubs losing to the Sox, and never hearing the end of it!

As far as single most disappointing season in the history of baseball? Comon, there have been plenty of upper 90 win teams that haven't made it to the world series dude. What about Seattle in 2001, they won 116 games and got spanked right out of the ALCS. Cubs maybe favored in the NL, but I doubt the WS. Angels had a better season, Tampa had the same number of wins as the Cubs, Boston was only 2 back. It takes a lot to win 11 games in the postseason man. Would this season be a disappointment? Obviously, but biggest ever, is a huge stretch.

I'm definitely not coming here to waste time bashing the Sox, I'd rather concentrate on the Cubs and go from there.

    Hooray for a coin flip!

    WAAAAA WAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAAAA

I was just waiting for the Twins fans to start bitching about this. While the coin flip may not seem fair, that's how it's been in baseball for a long time. It's not like this was a new development. Deal with it.

I'm pretty calm right now, atleast compared to the mornings before Monday's and Tuesday's games. I'm really going into this game feeling like a win would be a bonus. Nobody is expected anything from us. The Rays are the national media's darlings and I think they'll be feeling some pressure. Whether they strive on it or freak out has yet to be seen. Sox will get men on base, it's all about getting them across the plate. If we can get to Shields early and take some heat off Vazquez, maybe settle him down, I think he'll be alright. The bullpen is a whole other story though. Just win one at the Trop and bring it back to Comiskey for a hometown beatdown.

Let's get read to get ready!!!!!!!!! You can tell niether team are media darlings because of our 1:30 start so I brought my little radio to work today sporting my black with gray pinstripe suit.

Hey for the remainder of the playoffs is it a black out at Sox's Park?

    Game one= Huge!!!!!

I am actually surprisingly calm right now as well. Javy needs to pitch with confidence and throw strikes early. He is long overdue for a strong start. He pitched pretty well twice down there in Tampa earlier this year, hopefully he can do it again. It's safe to say it will be an unproductive afternoon at work with my ears glued to the radio. GO SOX!

I was gonna post my constructive thoughts on today's game, but since Twins fans have nothing better to do than root against us cuz their team is eliminated, I don't feel like wasting time and energy. Sox game at 5:30 tomorrow. Mauer's tee time is at 2:30. Any Sox fans that actually wanna talk baseball, head over to White Sox Interactive message boards. There's some knowledgeable people over there.

Yield, you're better than that. DV81, I expect nothing less. Grow-up.

I'm so sorry for hurting you. Still the White Sox nearly lost the division to a rebuilding team!

And I'll be rooting for the Rays too if they do indeed "beat the living shit out of" the White Sox. They're a good team and deserve success.

Seriously, you sour fans need to let.. it.. go.

    I don't understand the hatred. This isn't a Cubs/Sox, Yankees/Red Sox rivalry here..

Do you White Sox fans get frustrated when everyone refers to the Red Sox as the "Sox" when only the White Sox have "Sox" on their uniform?

I guess it doesn't really matter, although RED is an important part of the Red Sox name. Red stands out where as is White is a generic and common sock color.. I'm sure the White Sox are refered to as the Sox more often than the Red Sox are..

I just thought what DV posted was funny, sorry. :)

You think if Mauer needed a birdie to break par for a round, would he putt from the tee box? :D God that bunt pissed me off.

Also, there are a LOT of idiots over at WSI. It's fun to read stuff over there after a Chicago loss to the Twins.

Look at those predictions. Nobody picked the White Sox to be here either, so our team's success was a surprise just like yours. And with all this rebuilding talk, I'm expecting you guys to win the division next year. And high expectations haven't always been good for the sneaky Twins.

Well, everyone in Chicago refers to them as the Sox, so I never really get frustrated with it. It's really the national media that calls the Red Sox the Sawx, and they've always had an east coast bias, so I don't expect anything different. The White Sox were the first team to have "Sox" as part of their name, so that team from Boston are a bunch of copycats anyways. :)

My guess is Mauer would make that putt too. Dude's a stud. I remember when the Twins drafted him 1st and the Cubs took Mark Prior 2nd. Everyone around here was flaming the Twins for not picking Prior. Looks like it turned out to be the right pick. And yeah, that bunt was pretty random. Think he was just trying to get lucky and catch a break to get something going. Oh well, you guys will be back strong next season.

And yea, there a lot of idiots on any message board for any sports team really. Some of the college football post on espn, wow. Is there a Twins message board similar to WSI? I need to get some good material. You should read some of the emails my old twins fan college buddies sent me. Let's just say we may not be buddies for a little while.

Let's get a win tonight!!! I feel good with our ace Buehrle on the mound.
  • And the stupidity just keeps on coming.

I've forgotten more about baseball than the average White Sox fan will ever know. Can o' corn! Stretch! He Gone!

You're damn good at hiding that. I think you're all talk.

As for the loss tonight: Frustrating. This team couldn't buy a clutch hit to save their lives. 12 men left on base I think, pathetic. 2 runs on 12 hits is embarrassing. We had Kazmir right where we wanted him early and couldn't capitalize. Buehrle pitched pretty good outside of that one mistake to Mohawk Iwamura. Alexei's error cost us their first run, so can't blame Mark on this one. Bullpen blows, what else is new. I guess the only optimism I have is that they're coming home and have played well in elimination games. We're not dead, but if we continue to strand runners like we did today, we have no chance at winning a game, let alone the series.

Ah well, time to get drunk with my depressed Cubs friends.
