Hopefully Javy can step up in a big game for once.
  • Well here we go Whitey fans. Neither of our beleaguered teams probably deserves to win this division yet the final week of the 2008 regular season brings meaningful baseball to Chitown and the Twin Cities.

May the less sucky team win!

  • They were also egged on by your team's manager who threw his own hissy fit on the field and told his players to get off the field. I like Ozzie, he just needs to control his temper a little bit better sometimes. You should listen to him, he really likes our team. More than his own sometimes, or so it seems. ;)

Anyway, I was joking, so calm down k? See my above post.

Ozzie is a bigger Twins fan than half the people that fill the Metrodome during any given home game--and the Twins have a pretty loyal fanbase.

Wow, what the fuck was that last night? Vazquez just can't show up in a big game. Buehrle needs to show why he's the veteran leader of this pitching staff tonight.
  • Yup, Vazquez proved all the writers and Ozzie right by showing he can not handle a big game. This is painful. If they don't win tonight we're screwed.
Bob Loblaw's Law Blog: "Why should YOU go to jail for a crime someone else noticed?"
  • Absolutely disgusted right now. 2 runs on 9 hits is just unacceptable in a game that could decide a division championship. The team just seems apathetic. I was really worried about Buehrle during the first two innings, but he settled down and pitched great. Hitters just can't put it together. Dye has completely fallen off, zero homers in September. In my opinion, the starting pitching and Dye will be the deciding factors the rest of the way. They need to step-up or it's gonna be a loooong, torcherous postseason of baseball for sox fans in chicago.

  • I really don't want to only hear about the Cubs in the playoffs..

    Get a grip Sox!

You start tomorrow half a game up.. you have to win!
  • Go TWINS!
The only people that are bigger bums than White Sox players are White Sox FANS!! Yeah!

The only thing more annoying than having to play baseball in a domed football stadium is having to listen to Twins fans chirp. You don't say a word all season until the night before possibly the biggest game of the year so far, and rip on the team's fans. Are you that doofus who threw back Griffey's homerun ball last night?

Twins fans are the biggest joke. About 15,000 people a game go to that shitbox of a stadium all season and then all of a sudden they jump on the bandwagon and show up in late September when the Twins have a chance. Real passionate fans you got there....

Before you go spouting off, you might want to do some research.

Twins attendance surpasses two million for fourth straight year

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins announced Sunday that the team has achieved paid attendance of more than two million people for the 2008 regular season. With Sunday's attendance of 31,236, the Twins have seen 2,012,217 fans through the Metrodome turnstiles in 2008.
This marks the club's fourth straight year drawing more than two million fans and the Twins tenth' season drawing two million-plus fans. The Twins are on pace for 2,259,981 fans in 2008, which would be the third straight year drawing over 2.2 million. The Twins have seen an average attendance of 27,946 through 72 home dates this season.

Last time I checked, 27,946 is a lot more than 15,000.

Who was the first team to ever draw 3 million fans? Oh yeah, the 1988 TWINS.
No longer overwhelmed it seems so simple now.

C'mon, that was 20 years ago.

Otherwise, Twins and Sox attendance is pretty close. Sox average 30,511 a game, Twins 27,884, according to espn.com. So yeah, I agree that attendance is not an argument either way. I'm just pissed that some dude who hasn't talked baseball on here all year decides to come on and rip our fans after you've taken the first two games of the series. Easy to open your mouth then little man.

And seriously, I still can't believe that idiot threw back Griffey's home run ball last night.

I was saying they were the first team to hit 3 million and noted when it happened. It just shows there is definitely a strong fan base in the Twin Cities for baseball.

  • This game is a nail biter.. I really think it's going to determine who makes the playoffs..
  • And that's a Twins sweep.

Have fun against Cliff Lee and the Indians.

  • Hang on Tampa!

Magic number 7, hopefully down to 5 after this evening. How grand it would be to clinch in that god awful Baggie, given all the frustrations the Sox have had up there

    Oops!

  • Seems like it could be a crazy weekend for you guys playing the Indians while the Twinkies play the Royals. But just wondering there that 1 extra game comes into play? IE sox are 1 game back in the win column, so when do they make that up? Is there a doubleheader vs the Indians, or a makeup game Monday if need be, etc?

Makeup game on Monday against Detroit, if necessary. Then tie-braker vs Twins on Tuesday, if necessary. It won't be.

Gotta give it to the Twins. They kicked our fucking asses. We'll need a miracle to even force a playoff game. I can't say I didn't see this coming. This series had been talked about all season and the Sox really fucked it up. I dont even know what to say about it anymore.
  • Not sure if I even want to go to the game today, but it is season ticket holder appreciation day, so why not. Hard to believe that at one point my record was 12-1 for home games attended. Now I'm at 13-6. There's not much, if anything at all, left in the tank for these guys, but as pathetic as it has been they're still in it. Ozzie is right, I hope this team realizes how lucky they are to have their asses handed to them the final 2 weeks of the season and still be in contention for a division title on the final day. Fucking make something of it! No Cliff Lee today, which would appear to be good, but knowing the Sox, they probably don't have a scouting report on this other guy and he'll throw 7 scoreless or something. Hopefully this isn't the last game at the Cell this season. Go Go Sox!

The Cell was electric after Alexi's granny. Oh man, tremendous play-off atmosphere. Hopefully this momentum carries over. Thankfully, the play-off tix for season ticket holders includes the "playoff" game cuz the best I could do after the game was get upper deck seats. Gotta be in the lower level tomorrow.

And Twins fans, "We'll see you tomorrow night!"

so who else is as jacked up as I am for the one game playoff tonight????

I havent been able to concentrate on anything at work all afternoon. Twins are a diff. team when they're not in that shitbox dome. I'm feeling a huge performance from Danks tonight.

    Chicago home record: 53-28
    Chicago road record: 35-46

    Minnesota home record: 53-28
    Minnesota road record: 35-46

Almost every team in the AL has struggled on the road this year. Only Anaheim and New York have winning records (NYY only 41-40) on the road. Playing good defense and getting timely hits don't have anything to do with playing in the Dome.

Congrats on winning the coin flip.

  • I can't for the life of me figure out why this game isn't being played in Minnesota. The Twins were 10-8 against the Sox this year. Doing a coin flip if the record is 9-9 is fine with me but this doesn't make any sense.
