it's the return (...again ;)) of the natural! :) no idea what's going to happen in this one, but i'm intrigued...i'm hoping for a couture vs. nogueira match when all is said and done.

should be a good LW match between florian and stevenson, and maia vs. quarry should be interesting as well. personally, i wouldn't mind trading the other two main card bouts for prelims, but we'll have to wait and see how they turn out. i really wish they were showing the mccrory vs. hazelett match on the main card. that should be a lot of fun to watch.

    UFC 92 has a nice line up. Definitely a good couple of months with some top notch fights coming up.

    As for the TUF, I can't fucking stand Junie Browning. I pray that someone drops that fucker hard. I don't know where the hell Roli Delgado learned to fight because he was horrible. He stance was hit, wide open. He had zero follow through on his punches. He was basically bitch slapping Junie in the first round of their fight.

    i've been meaning to check that out. i think he was charged at one point with posession of steroids, but the charges were later dropped when it turned out the substances weren't illegal or something like that? it's weird that he would just walk off for the guy asking him how big he was. did he make an implication beforehand, phantom pain?

    for a guy who talks so much, he had little to back it up in his performance. you're right, delgado's striking was bad. if only junie was half the fighter he thought he was. :D this season has been disappointing so far, maybe because there has been so much focus and air time given to browning.

    That's why I'm hoping he gets bounced soon. Elliot and Efrain looked pretty solid in their wins.

    thanks for the reminder on the e:60 program, phantom pain. just finished watching it now. i've watched this show a couple of times, mostly just for the mma features they do, and i'm always left wondering if the reporters round table is intentionally dumbed down. it seems a contrived act in order to ask questions they think the audience might ask. even in some features i've caught on tsn here, they may be talking about baseball and someone at the table makes it sound like they wouldn't know what a base is. i would pass it off simply as people not understanding mma, which is usually the case with the sports media, but it seems like they act this way with most stories.

    it's just kind of ...weird, i guess. you'd think that at least the reporter who actually did the interview and the story would know something, but in this case, he called randy couture a "jiu-jitsu fighter". :confused: his description of the sport in the beginning is absolutely ridiculous as well.

    the background story and brock's description of his time in pro wrestling was quite interesting.

    Surgery for UFC's Cote; out 6-8 months

    UFC middleweight contender Patrick (The Predator) Cote, whose title challenge Saturday was cut short because of a knee injury, will undergo arthroscopic surgery next week and will be out of action for 6-8 months, Sportsnet’s Joe Ferraro has learned.

    Cote, a Rimouski, Que., native, suffered a meniscus tear during his fight against champion Anderson Silva at UFC 90 in Chicago that eventually caused him to collapse 39 seconds into the third round, to the disappointment of the sold-out crowd at Allstate Arena.

    Cote first aggravated the knee injury while attempting a kick midway through the second round. Cote told his management before the third round he thought his knee was done, but attempted to continue. However his knee gave way as he sparred with the champion, forcing Herb Dean to call an end to the fight and give Silva the TKO victory.

    Cote’s manager Stephane Patry told Sportsnet he originally injured his knee a year ago, and he reaggravated it training four weeks prior to the fight. He considered pulling out but instead took a cortisone shot and was told by doctors he could still take the fight.

    The loss broke a streak of four straight wins in the UFC and five in a row overall for Cote, who is currently relaxing in Cancun, Mexico, ahead of the surgery.

    ALVES INJURY WON'T KEEP HIM OUT OF TITLE PICTURE

    "It was a great fight and I had a lot of fun," Thiago Alves told MMAWeekly.com following his three-round decision win over Josh Koscheck at UFC 90 on Saturday night. "Josh is a great opponent, so it was a lot of fun."

    "It's better to get the knockout," he quipped, "but it was a great fight though."

    He especially would have appreciated the knockout since he was walking around with his left hand heavily bandaged after the fight. It wasn't a disastrous injury by any means, but the knockout would have tempered the injury a bit more.

    "I think I dislocated it in the fight," said Alves. "It will be fine though. It's nothing major."

    And he was correct. A spokesman at American Top Team on Monday confirmed that Alves did suffer a dislocated thumb during the UFC 90 bout, adding that he took some anti-inflammatory medicine for it and it will be fine.

    The injury is nothing that should hinder Alves' forward progress in the UFC welterweight division.

    UFC president Dana White said before the fight, "If you look at Thiago... the two guys he just beat... the first guy to knock out Karo Parisyan. He just knocked out Matt Hughes and Matt Hughes had trouble taking him down. Koscheck beat Diego Sanchez, too. If Koscheck came out and beat Thiago Alves Saturday night, he's in line for a title shot. Thiago beats Koscheck; so is he."

    White reaffirmed that assertion at the UFC 90 post-fight press conference. "This kid is definitely ready for a title shot," referring to Alves. "It's a matter of time, letting the St. Pierre vs. Penn fight happen; then we'll get him."

    KDH! :D just read the rumours section at mmaweekly, and karo parisyan will likely be facing dong hyun kim at ufc 94! this was one of the fights i was most excited for when they signed him. i hope karo is ok to fight. i can't wait to see it!
