They may be illegal in our civilized world, but not in the deadly octagon!

That guy Ken Shamrock should be put away for life! I hear he's killed at least 50 people inside that cage.

    You're joking right?

    LOL :D!!!!!!!!!

Is this walden freeman person for real? Or I am missing some deadpan sarcasm?
  • it seems that walden freeman is just trying to stir sh*t up. He did the same thing in the last thread so i think it's best to just ignore a person that is clearly not on our level.

Just watched Inside MMA and it was a pretty good episode with randy couture. I'm going to watch that e:60 link you posted later tonight. I've heard some interesting things about that episode.

Oh, and I guess i'm the only one who likes junie brown eh. I dunno, i like crazies for some reason, i'm hoping he makes it to the finale, sorry guys :)

as leafs mentioned, there was a very similar post in the thread for the last event, so i'm guessing he's just having a go. :)

...or, as suspected before, it is john mccain come to join the message pit and take time out of his presidential race to share his thoughts on mma here. :D
  • hells bells! it's aboot time! favoured by many to win the DREAM MW tourney, he showed up to the first round with a package gift wrapped for gegard mousasi, labelled "open in ring"...turned out to be his arm and head, as he presented them to gegard and said, happy birthday, merry christmas, here is a triangle choke for you...:D

much better fighter than he has shown in a few of his recent bouts and a fine addition to the MW division.

UFC inks middleweight Denis Kang to four-fight deal
    by Dann Stupp MMAjunkie.com
    Nov 03, 2008

The Ultimate Fighting Championship's middleweight division just got some depth and a potential new challenger for middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

Former PRIDE fighter and current SpiritMC champion Denis Kang has signed a four-fight deal with the UFC, American Top Team General Manager Richie Guerriero today confirmed with MMAjunkie.com.

Kang, 31, will likely make his octagon debut in early 2009.

"I just think timing wise, it was a good point in his career (to sign with the UFC)," Guerriero said. "He's always had his eye on the UFC, but with his commitment to SpiritMC, and with him fighting for PRIDE at the time, it just never happened."

Kang, a Canadian of Korean-French descent, was a top star with SpiritMC, a South Korean-based fight promotion. Kang won the organization's heavyweight (80+ kg) title in September 2004 and cited his desire to fight for the organization as a stumbling block in previous UFC negotiations.

"SpiritMC was only asking that I fight for them once a year," Kang said back in April. "That's one of the things that I really, really wanted to do -- to keep my SpiritMC title and keep my fan base in Korea, which is really important to me."

However, Guerriero and Kang knew the 10-year fight vet was missing out on publicity and sponsorship opportunities closer to home.

"With the UFC being what it is, I think Denis knew it was a good time to get some exposure here in America," said Guerriero, whose popular ATT facility is located in Coconut Creek, Fla.

Although Guerriero didn't know the particulars of the deal, he said it would be unlikely for Kang to continue fighting for SpiritMC "just based on the way [the UFC] has always done things," he said, referring to the organization's exclusive contracts.

Kang, the 2006 PRIDE welterweight grand prix runner-up, had emerged as a top-five-ranked middleweight during a 23-fight undefeated streak from April 2003 to November 2006. However, he then suffered three losses in a four-fight span, which included a first-round submission defeat to Gegard Mousasi in the opening round of the 2008 DREAM middleweight grand prix earlier this year.

However, Kang has since rebounded for back-to-back victories, which included a 48-second TKO of Marvin Eastman at an Oct. 25 Raw Combat event.

  • CHRIS LEBEN TESTS POSITIVE FOR STEROIDS
    Monday, November 03, 2008
    by Damon Martin - MMAWeekly.com

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has suspended fighter Chris Leben for nine months and fined him one-third of his fight purse following a positive drug test for the steroid Stanazolol after his loss to Michael Bisping at UFC 89 in England in October. The news was reported by Dave Meltzer of Yahoo! Sports.

The UFC has long stood by drug testing of the athletes competing for the promotion, even overseas in England where they have no formal athletic commission to handle the process.

At these events, the UFC leans on former head of the Nevada State Athletic Commission and now UFC vice president, Marc Ratner, to handle the duties normally handled by an overseeing committee like the athletic commissions in the United States.

Leben has never tested positive before, but this is still a major setback in his career.

“I am obviously disappointed with Chris, who has made great strides getting his life back on track,” UFC president Dana White told Meltzer. “To his credit, he has taken responsibility for his actions and is accepting the punishment that has been handed down. But as always, the UFC puts the safety of its athletes first and foremost, and we won’t tolerate anyone using performance enhancing drugs in our organization.”

According to the report, the UFC tested all 22 athletes on the card before and after the fights, and Leben to date is the only fighter who has tested positive for illegal substances.

no sense at all, releash. there are random tests now as well as the pre and post fight tests, so the odds of getting caught are only increasing.

I think this human cockfighting ought to be illegal. A no-ruled fight to the death? Scratching, biting, headbutts, and groin strikes all legal? Hundreds dead every year? Savagery.

so stupid... but really not surprised. He looked in a lot better shape that last fight and i guess now we know why. The only good thing to come of this is that he actually admitted it and isn't trying to fight it like some other idiots. I actually think he got off pretty easy, for everything he has done in the past and current, 9 months is nothing close to what he should have got.

agreed, i have no idea why they would take them when they know they will be tested. Chris said that he thought it'd be out of his system by the time they tested him, gladly he was wrong. The only way to make sure of that is not to take anything ever, what a dumb ass.

NOW A NON-TITLE BOUT, FILHO'S BELT STILL AT RISK
    Tuesday, November 04, 2008
    by Ken Pishna - MMAWeekly.com

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – World Extreme Cagefighting middleweight champion and No. 2 ranked 185-pounder Paulo Filho on Tuesday missed weight at the WEC 36 weigh-ins. Not only did he miss weight, he was over by an astonishing seven pounds, weighing in at 192 pounds.

Filho will now go down as the final WEC middleweight champion. He will fight Sonnen on Wednesday night, but it will not be for the title.

MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday evening confirmed with WEC officials that Filho got down to 189 pounds on his second attempt, therefore making the bout ineligible for championship designation. The two camps did come to terms, allowing the fight to go on as a three-round non-title bout.

Sonnen's cornerman, Matt Lindland, said that Filho was penalized a percentage of his purse and that Sonnen would receive some monetary compensation for Filho missing weight and it being changed to a non-title bout.

(The WEC later reported on its website that Filho gave up 25% of his purse to Sonnen.)

Perhaps more interesting is that Filho's cornerman indicated to Lindland that they would give up the title belt if Sonnen wins. "His cornermen told us that they would walk across the cage and hand Chael the belt if he wins. When Chael whoops his ass, I expect them to live up to their word.

"I just feel bad for Chael, he doesn't get a chance at the title. This is three times that Chael has been ready for this fight," continued Lindland. "One time it was put off due to the threat of Hurricane Ike, but the other two times were Paulo's."

Despite losing its championship luster, the bout is still holds important implications for Filho and Sonnen. With the WEC discontinuing both the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions at the end of this year, this bout is expected to serve as a qualifier, likely to launch the winner into the WEC's sister promotion, the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

You got your wish .... OBAMA!!

btw, I had the creepiest voting experience today. I went to my polling station at 11:20 am hoping that the morning rush would have cleared out and I could beat the lunch time voters. I got my wish ... I was the ONLY voter there. I had 15 election workers staring at me as I voted for Obama! I know my vote didn't really matter since I live in a red state that had no hope of going blue, but for the first time in a LONG time, I'm proud to be an american.
