and if you want to go back further to 1950 before there was a Cy Young award the Phillies closer Jim Konstanty won the MVP award with a 16-7 record and 22 saves.
Ok, thanks. I guess I didn't look very closely, huh?
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

    Angels going for another sweep-o-the-sox?

Sure hope so, far superior franchise. Without all the whiny little fans!

I'm wondering if Daisuke will ever overcome this late inning struggles. ???

I mean the guy is solid from the opening inning to the 5th but once the 6th and 7th roll in he loses control.

I know in Japan, they get 6/7 day rest for starting pitchers and he was able to go deep in the game in his native country but in the MLB so far he's been struggle once he goes into the 6th....

Better not be a sweep....those the Angels have the best road record(i believe) so it is possible.

That K-Rod guy is unstoppable- he's already aiming for 200 saves for his career and he's only 26-years-old. :eeks:

  • thank you. I was gonna say it, but didn't want to start a fire. And I have him on a fantasy team. He just walks way too many guys. Right now, Cy Young goes to Cliff Lee. Also in serious contention ahead of Matsuzaka:

Roy Halladay--get past the record (12-7) he'd be 15-4 on a team taht could hit
    Mike Mussina
    Joe Saunders
    Mariano Rivera

Cy Young just slipped a bit further away from Matsuzaka and Mussina
  • I know I'm gonna get the same ol 'wait til the postseason' crap that will come, but its still a beautiful thing watching the Angels own the Sox this year. 6-1 is it?

Lackey has a no hitter through 7!

I hope he gets it ... seriously. I love seeing shit like that, it's only one game.

I'll garauntee you that Sox fans give Lackey a huge cheer if he does it, or if it gets broken up .... either way.

Getting Tex is a good deal ... but, pitching is far more important in the playoffs ... and the Angels have that.

You should just hope they don't blow out K-Rods arm.

I was at the game tonight, pretty shitty. I would have rather seen a no-hitter.

yes we do, and not real worried about K-Rod. The dude is young. With Texiera hopefully we can get a little more run support and not have to useFrankie as much

4 errors tonight for the Sox ... man, they look pretty out of it mentally.

Not sure if the Manny trade buzz is on their minds, if they are tired, or what ... but, they need to snap out of it.

Perhaps a Manny trade will work like the Nomar trade did in '04.

    edit ....
and just after I type this, Pedroia, Lowry and Crisp pull the ol' Bad News Bears pop fly triangle ball drop routine. Wow.
