I got Bill Simmons to sign a copy of his book to me saying that coming back from down 3-0 to the Yankees was better than beating the house in blackjack.

He was a real nice guy at the signing. He even stayed an hour late to sign everyone's book and missed the first half of the 76ers Nuggets game. There were so many Red Sox jerseys in the bookstore that day. I wonder how many will be brave enough like me to wear one if its a Phillies Sox series in a week or so.

I'll gladly wear a sox jersey in LA if it's a Sox v Dodgers series ... and there are youtube videos of how they treat us at Chaves Ravine ... but, let's get by the Rays first.

Is it any worse then now warming Mike Timlin? Well at least this year anyways.

I'm crossing my fingers for that.

Who does Tito go with Byrd or Timlin?

I'm guessing Timlin because Byrd is a starter and probably takes awhile to loosen up.

good guess, may be based on matchups though (individual, I know their both righties.)

Hey Price ... there is a LOT of pressure on you here :D

It's the bottom of the order for the Rays: Navarro, Zobrist and Bartlett.

Now that I think about it and especially with the delay for the pitching change, Timlin goes in if the Sox have a lead and Byrd if its tied.

I don't get why Tito went with Timlin there but you can't put it on Mike completely. The ump squeezed him twice there which handicapped him terribly. We got Lester going on Monday so a split on the road is far from the end of the world.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

tough loss but a great game overall, very exciting for most part.

Beckett doesn't look like the postseason pitcher we're used to see. :(

I was surprised by that too, but I didn't follow the game that closely. Who else was in the pen? Tonight reminded me of the 2003 WS, when Torre brought Jeff Weaver in in extra innings, and everyone knew the game was over

Well the choices were Timlin or Byrd.

The thing is Byrd is a starter so it probably takes him awhile to loosen up so the only choice really was Timlin.

  • what the fuck was tito thinking? Timlin?! come on! Leaving Beckett in for the 5th (let alone to face longoria!)!!?? come on!

The sox definitely should have won that game. Byrd should have come in to start the 5th. What a shame. Oh well, I'm feeling good playing 3 at Fenway now.

There are others who had more of an impact on that game than Tito. Francona played the bullpen perfectly until Timlin and if the Sox could have scratched out a run in the many opportunities that they had it would be a non issue. Look at Ellsbury and Ortiz's ineffectivness as a key reason why they lost. Ellsbury just should have stayed in Boston with the way he's played so far.

I think Timlin sucks but when the Sox leave 22 runners on base that's not really Tito's fault.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

man, from all these games that are on until 1 AM to gmaes that start at 4:30 pm on the east coast ... people can't catch a break on these start times.

How many are leaving work early to catch the game?

(One good thing about having the ol' home office :) )

  • i am definately bouncing early. 4:30 is such an odd time. it should start at 5:30 at the earliest. give everyone a chance to get home.
