Fanch, I used the pull-up machine at the gym today. :)
It is awesome. And you can do dips on it.
Pull up assist I think it is called. My girlfriend showed me how to use it.
I also tried the split pulldown??? It is a split rope that you hold, keeping your elbows straight and pull down. Awesome. :)
Thanks again for the info about pull ups.

My daily workout has changed. It is now simply a 15 minute push-up/sit-up routine 6 days a week. Then the 7th day I go to the gym and do about 15 minutes of weights followed by a 5 mile jog. I am now under my goal weight of 175lbs. I weighed in at 168 yesterday, and I no longer watch what I eat but I have cut down considerably on sweets and never eat fast food. Plus the occasional day of a liquid diet has probably helped. ;)

I don't really have one persay, I just walk a lot. For example, I get off the bus at 34th and Madison and if it's nice and time permits, I walk to 16th and ninth when I'm working over there. I also try to eat somewhat decently and in the summer do more walking/running.

Dude, your workout posts cracks me up. They're always about getting that benefit without having to do much (ie, running for 5-7 minutes, lifting once every ten days, etc etc).

Good on you for brainstorming, but that doesn't work! Yeah it may "benefit" you (as in you're not being a total couch potato), but it's not going to get you where you want to be. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it - and it ain't easy.

That all being said, play on, playa.
I used to over do it. I'm just happy it's easier than I thought. I'm in much better shape now working out 30 minutes a day than I was working out an hour and a half..

I swam this morning. My training schedule called for 2000 yards, but I only did 1,750.00, and that included some breathing breaks and time spent adjusting goggles and trying to get my feet to quit cramping. The .9 mile swim on Sunday at the Memphis in May triathlon - not looking so good. I hope it is cool enough to be wet suit legal so I can float easily.

Excellent! Is the machine called a "Gravitron"? Those are good. I'm sure your upperback is sore.

  • Has anyone ever done supersets of squats and dips?

Dips can be considered the upper body squat, (I chain a 45 plate to a belt and go all the way down (lean forward and bottom out) to hit the pecs as well).

Anyhow ....I took two weeks off (I do this every few months) and today I hit back with squats and weighted dips.

    holy crap....

I had to stop and sit down for a good 15 minutes, I thought my heart was going to explode.

    Crazy combination.

    I don't think so.
I looked for a name yesterday but it just said 'assisted pull-up/dip machine' or something like that. It is made by the same people that make all of the machines in my gym.
I had a woman help me with it yesterday. She was so cool. She was psyched to see me using it because I guess alot of women don't.

Pull-ups are the road less-traveled for a reason - because they are difficult. Keep it up!

    I am trying.
I feel kind of silly sometimes because I am not very strong, but I guess it is what you always say...the road less traveled. I have gotten beyond worrying what people in the gym think. :)
    I feel empowered. :)

Hello all you lazy people!! :p

When it is this hot out...the gym isn't the worst place to be. :)
Only did 25 min of cardio...treadmill...I got there late and my gf and I do the weights together.
Did the whole circuit of legs, arms, abs, etc.
Getting better with the assisted pull-up/dip machine. :)

  • I always get a chuckle from out of shape people that spontaneously decide to run on the hottest days of the year right smack dab in the heat of the day...

It seems only on the hottest, most humid days these people seem to come out decide to punish themselves.

My advice is pick any day of the year, and go lift some really heavy weights for 30--45 minutes without resting until you're soaked.

At least people have an easier time of finding you when you pass on the gym floor, out instead of fainting in some ditch by the side of the road.

    lolol...
