I took my AC poster to the framers on the weekend. They were really great and helpful in choosing what to do with it. I hope it turns out well, it's hard to visualise the whole thing when you only have the corners mocked up. It's costing a lot, so I really hope it turns out well. I'll post pictures when it's done (I get to pick it up next Saturday).

    Thanx Scott,

    Well done Brendan,
I have sent an email to that address already.
    It's a shame there isn't a way to contact P.J. directly.

    As far as a venue...
how come it suits the Rolling Stones and not P.J.?
Think about it, there are at least 2 generations of R.S. fans,
    in comparison P.J. are novices.
    (No insult intended)

I've been in regular contact with Eddie's good mate from Newcastle, Mark Richards in regards to PJ playing a show in Newcastle (which Eddie believes is already on the tour schedule)
MR keeps in regular contact with Eddie, so if there's anything I can do in relation to your campaign just let me know and I might be able to get something to Eddie from you guys (I'm not promising miracles)

Can you find out what the situation is? So we arent dealing in rumours and gossip?

    Scott
  • Thanks for the support people. Once we get things in motion it's gonna be good. Even if it's just to let someone influential know how dissapointed we are. When I get home today ill check the email for correspondence. I'll email out the pettition to all parties willing to distribute and then get things moving from there. Feel free to make copies and get as many involved as possible.

    Thanks

    Brendan

No offense, but I guess that maybe shows us how out of the touch the band could be with their exact tour plans. I guess you're picking the 19th for the show in Newcastle? One of the guys here already talked to Ed in Canada and he was pretty adamant they were coming to NZ too, but look where we are now... Still, gotta keep positive. You never know what might happen. Can anyone say 10C only acoustic show?

Guys, remember to be realistic - the chances of getting PJ are bleak now - i am not trying to put a damper on anything but I know how dissappointed I was when my petition failed, so yeah.

    All the best though, seriously....

Well the excuse in 2003 was the lack of adequate venue, and the slowness of ticket sales (so they go to Japan - ironic). I think at the time the chili peppers didnt sell out, and PJ didnt sell out in 98. But heck, after U2 maybe things might have changed?

Fact of the matter is that Auckland is the biggest market, and NEEDS vector to be finished. Bands to skip NZ because of vector delays so far are: Coldplay, Split Enz, Pearl Jam. Its a disgrace

I guess they were bummed out in 98. They had the possibility of a second date in Auckland (it's even on the poster, right?) but the first concert didn't sell out. I'm not sure what they were expecting? In 98 they didn't have the pull to sell out Ericsson twice. Still, I think they sold the equivalent of nearly 2 x Vector Arenas capacity so it seems sure that when they come back they'll play 2 nights at Vector, but in the meantime I'm sure they could sell a 20K-25K venue easy. Although, with a smaller venue there's more of that rush-out-and-get-tickets-in-case-it-sells-out syndrome compared to GA at Ericsson for example. Aucklanders are generally apathetic, so that's expected. I, for one, really hope they manage to make it here despite everything, but Scott's right, we've gotta keep our expectations realistic.

Yeah or maybe Newcastle as a tour opener. Who knows.
It'll still probably come down to ticket sales for Sydney 3 whether Newcastle gets a show or not

Haha I can say 10C only acoustic show, but I cant see it. Ill be at St James on Friday for Arctic Monkeys, ill suggest to them they need to get Pearl Jam next.
Its been 8 years, but I still believe...PJ in NZ 06!

  • If anyone is going to Aussie shows I want signs there displaying our extreme dissapointmemt. "How bout you play New Zealand Ed" would be effective.

What about "Play New Zealand you pussies"...that seemed to work pretty well for Leash. Im only kidding though, the main thing is to keep on an even keel and never seem in any petitions/emails etc like we're bitter angry demanding NZ fans.

Calm down guys. I know you feel cheated but there hasn't been any 'official' word on it yet.
So what if they cancelled their accomodation. It might just mean that they're gonna play somewhere else in NZ, or there could've been trouble with the accomodation eg. Nowhere for Olivia to sleep etc
Save the rage for 'official' news cos I know the band wouldn't want to screw you guys over
  • PJ never offically stated they were coming here in the first place was only a rumour that turned out to be true.

No offense but you guys in aussie have no ida what its like to constantly have bands pass you over, half of the time im sure they just think we are apart of aussie or go "hey fuck me, theres a country down there! Dude!"

I think putting our name on the tour program before Aussie is pretty close to official, official enough to get our hopes up.
I personally am not upset because I think they arent coming, im upset because Ten Club could cut through the shit and give us an answer or something either way. They are crap, and I wont listen to anyone who says otherwise.

I agree with you there ^. I am annoyed at being left hanging without any information. Also the whole Vector is the only venue scenario.

I can understand Coldplay pulled out because Vector was the only possible venue with an intact roof, and they were going to play in the winter.

I eventually got a reply to my petition from the 10C to say they werent coming to NZ in 2003 - I replied asking why and got nothing back....
