I went down to Eastern Hi Fi at lunch to check it out again. Looks nice, didn't have a listen today though. I gotta say, they've got the Xpression III in there and it looks really nice, but it's $899! :( How much did you get the Debut for?

Did they try to convince you to buy the separate preamp or speed box etc? I guess one can always upgrade to them later. But how to really compare your Yamaha's preamp with an external box without buying it?
Paid $449. No they didn't try and talk me into buying anything else. I think a separate preamp would perform slightly better as a dedicated 2 channel source, but as you say, can always add it later - keeping some $$ aside in case a tour is announced tomorrow!

So, I guess the dates worked then? Sweet (for you anyway)!

Are you going with anyone? If you're not, I know a guy that might be in Florida then and if so, he'd probably be keen to take your extras.

Sweet as. You never know, so just checking. Should be great. Unfortunately, the timing didn't work out for a honeymoon for us :) I'm not holding out much hope for shows in December...

who else saw the body of war story on campbell live last night? complete with ed soundtrack. cool.

and who else heard henry rollins talking about how much he likes eddie on national radio last saturday morning? i admit i was only listening coz i knew henry would be on, but it was such a nice unexpected buzz to hear pj being discussed.

okay, more media watch from me...and it's not like i even watch a lot of telly!

tonight on prime is the 7 ages of rock, the kurt cobain age. yes, this is a bbc documentary series, so while all of the other 'ages' have so far been fairly generic in the trailer, ie punk, arena, metal, this week is being fully promoted as the age of kurt. just like the english music mags, their tv people appear to be pukingly cobain obsessed...still.

i expect pj to get a passing sneery mention. if we're lucky.

lets see them prove me wrong.

Did you see it? I didn't bother to watch it but I'd be interested to hear if it was any good.

it was...ok. pretty much the rem and nirvana show, with a bit of black flag and the pixies sprinkled in, in fact henry rollins and kim deal were my favourite bits. pj did get a mention but didn't get slagged thanks to david fricke. henry rollins said something like 'anywhere in the world within 20 feet of electricity, there's a pearl jam record, even in calcutta' .

i find the english fascination with kurt cobain ghoulish and ironic, considering statements like 'he was the last great rock star' to be pretty much the kind of thing that hastened his demise in the first place.

will do. been reading alot about the quality but to be honest it doesn't really bother me. every tour the boots have sounded different to the last. from a collectors point of view, they played great sets, good to see a few favs finally come back to stage & it sounds like the shows were fantastic. will be good to add 2008 to the other boots i have.

how kickass were the two VH1 rock honours songs?! Sheesh, smokin'

Yeah I got Bonaroo today in Tasmania Australia....
I love the packaging............It has three discs so It has the 3 sections for the cd's with cool Pearl Jam font in the middle when its laid flat, where is folds back it has the PJ in the star......It has a burgundy colour sticker on the front that wraps around the back....the setlist is on the back of the CD...

I was wondering if they might do the setlist booklet like they did in 2003 but no need with it being printed on the back...

In all I think I paid about 20 bucks with postage and it arrived within a week of being sent..:)
    Im stoked I got this...:)

they came in last week, have listened to the first 5 & at first those complaints on here were warranted. in the first couple of shows mike is way too low, ed too high, boom WAAAAY too high & a very low crowd, not to mention just sounding bassy & murky. but you can hear it start to get better around bonnaroo & the virginia boot i listened to yesterday was far better. haven't listened to MSG yet but i think it will sound ok, still great to have in the collection though :)

Any boots are better than no boots. Have you tried listening to the 95 NZ boots, or finding the 98? :D

I thought they were going to offer a bundle from kufala, did they falg that idea? How do they look in general, nice packaging/cds etc? Reasonably close to pressed CDs, I mean?

i haven't actually heard any kiwi boots, except for i got you & history never repeats from 95. i went to sydney1 06 & got the boot for that & it's excellent.

yeah there was no bundle offer which was disappointing but oh well. packaging is good, bigger in size than the 03 boots, similar to euro2000 boots, solid cardboard double gatefold with a slip in the middle for the 3 disc shows. there's a big "pearl jam" printed in a cool font in the middle. front & back cover is a sticker with PJ in a star, pearl jam & the show details on the front, and the setlist & band lineup on the back. the discs are burns & the printing on them is pretty standard, not flash. but like you say, boots are better than no boots!

    3. the wallabies are scared of the all blacks
    4. it's FISH n CHIPS, not fush n chups

I emailed Kufala about a package deal (like they did with Crowded House), which they said they were going to do, but after waiting I emailed again and they said no they had changed their minds. I've always have really good service from them from what I have ordered in the past though. Bought all the boots and the new Liam Finn show a couple of weeks ago and they were here in four days. Got to two of the shows too which was a bonus!
