I really thought Melky was gonna get to that ball last night. I think he and Abreau held back just a little bit in fear of running into each other. Maybe not. Tough loss in playoff like conditions. They will bounce back and take 2 outa 3.

  • Brian cashman was on the radio last week, and he was vehement that if Arod opts out, the Yankees will not purue him as a free agent. They are not willing to lose the contribution from the Rangers, and sign him to a mega deal that they are 100 % responsible for. Makes sense. The Yankees have ARod for 3 years at about $16 million per under the current deal. If he opts out, he'll probably be looking for $30 million per for 7-8 years. I 100 % agree with cashman, if he wants to be here, he will. If he was full of shit earlier this year when he said he intends to stay, then fuck him.

Tonight's gonna be tough. Escobar has an amazing 2.68 ERA this year. Gonna need a big game from Moose

I am interested to see who they resign.

ARod? not unless they pony up a ton of $

    Jorge? they better!
he just turned 36, though, eek.

Mo? they better sign him, can't imagine the team w/o him

posada is not only 36, but obviously a catcher. eek for you guys indeed. they could resign him to play 1st and dh but oops, the yanks already have about 34 players that can do that between giambi, phillips, duncan, etc.

and rivera is 38. i could see a one or two year deal, but i can't imagine the yanks without either of them.

do you think they will pick up abreu's $16m option?

vizcaino is also a free agent i think. i thought moose was, but he signed the 2 year extension before this year.

That is complete BS!! A Rod should just 'want' to play for the Yankees? Why? What is so great about playing for a town that has never respected him or his ridiculous talent and then expects him just to want to stay because of some stupid tradition? You're heads up your ass if you think he'll stay just because it's the Yankees. Boston's got a ton of money coming off the books next year, and the Angels would be more than happy to pay him that much.

    oy
this pokes holes in my Yanks overtaking Boston theory

    Boston and Seattle both won

well let's hope they come back..

The last thing we needed was a bad outing by Moose, I hope he's not hurt.

    Edit: UGH! :(
this does not bode well at alll

Who said anything about tradition? How about he stays because he's going to make $25 mil plus for the next 3 years, for a team that will be in the playoff hunt every year? Or because the Yankees rescued him from being in last place every single year? Or how about staying because he said earlier this year: "that he has no plans to leave New York, no matter what." He can go "tour the farm systems" again and sign for a billion dollars and lose every year for all I care. Fuck him if he opts out is what I'm saying, and Brian Cashman agrees with me. Maybe you don't but I don't care about that, nor do I care for your tone
