Rygar wrote:I don't think he 'gave' the position back, he didn't look like he slowed down at all...well that isn't entirely true, but whatever. Hamilton blaming Raikkonen for driving him off the road was humorous.
Anyway, I see what the stewards are talking about but I don't really think it should have been a 25 second penalty.
The rain screws everything up, hopefully everything is sunny next week.
Yeah perhaps he shoudve backed off more. anyway like you said, 25 seconds? I wonder how they came up with that number.
Next race is Monza. Then Singapore! Should be crazy.0 -

I think the stewards reasoning is that because of the chicane he was able to position himself, and with the speed, to pass when otherwise he wouldn't have been able to. There's no way he was pulling off that outside pass going into the chicane, no matter what he tells reporters
I still don't think he should have gotten a 25 second penalty, but since I dislike McLaren, I'll take it0 -
Latest news on Alonso and where he may move, some reports are saying that he may switch to BMW next season for a long term (3 years) deal.
I'm guessing that Heidfelds job is on the line. Also a Kubica jump to Ferrari perhaps after Kimis contract ends. But too early to say I think.0 -

MrBrian wrote:Yeah Ross Brawn has been pretty public about him wanting Alonso with Honda for maybe 1 year. But I dunno if Alonso would go to them. But who knows, i'm sure Honda has the money.
I am not a fan of Alonso. I wouldn't mind seeing Kubica in a Ferrari though.
I think Massa should keep his seat.0 -
In other news, a return to the USA is being pushed for the 2010 season (Vegas?).

Yeah I checked that. I think a New York Street race would be nice, but I don't think that will happen. Vegas? errrr, sounds bad.
India has a race for 2010 right? I think it's a street course also.0 -

The article's author doesn't make a NYC street race sound too likely.
We'll see though.0 -
what a race
Rygar, the rain makes it much much more interesting.
the last five laps were brilliant
passing crashes strategyn thats whats its all about.
Hamilton was robbed. He was right on Kimi's ass when he ran the chicane.
And he did let Kimi back into position. Total BS. But what a finish in any event.
Kimi has had some bad luck, but Masa has been outperforming him all year.
I think Masa has a better car than Hamilton and as long as it doesnt rain, he should win the championship (the real reason Rygar doesnt want it to rain-if it does Masa is toast and so is ferrari)0 -

as far as we know, but mysteriously, the gap between Masa and Hamilton widened in the last turn
Heidfeld put the wets on and passed 4 or 5 people on the last lap. Alonso did the same thing.
Anyway, the penalty is not what the sport needed, whether you think it justified or complete bs. If Massa ends up winning the championship I hope it's by a fair margin...although I think Hamilton is still going to get it.0 -
Ferrari have announced an extension to Kimi Raikkonen’s contract for a further two seasons, keeping the world champion with the Italian team until the end of 2010.
With Raikkonen’s team mate Felipe Massa also under contract for that period, it means Ferrari’s race line-up will remain unchanged until at least the start of their 2011 campaign.
Raikkonen joined Ferrari from McLaren last season, while Massa has been with the team since 2006. The announcement should end media speculation suggesting that Raikkonen may retire at the end of this season.0 -
Saw that. Looks like the weather is going to do the roulette this weekend.
Sutil led practice 1 which got rained out, then the track dried up for practice 2 and Raikkonen topped it.
From Formula 1.com: "As conditions improved dramatically, Kimi Raikkonen celebrated Ferrari’s announcement that he will stay with the Scuderia until the end of 2010 by setting the fastest time of 1m 23.861s. It was tight at the top, however, with the BMW Saubers of Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld next on 1m 23.931s and 1m 23.947s respectively and Lewis Hamilton right behind them for McLaren on 1m 23.983s."
Also interesting to note that the majority of drivers (or so the article leads one to believe) see the reasoning behind Lewis' penalty as valid, while the penalty itself harsh.

Coincidentially, Pearl Jam Message Pit member Rygar said it first!0 -
interesting article
I dunno, if he wasnt right there with Kimi to begin with, he wouldnt have ended up cutting through-it just seems so wrong to take that win away from him.
Yeah I saw the results and its tight at the top. Qualifying should be VERY interesting tomorrow.0 -

I hope Sunday's race is exciting (AND CLEAN) and red!0 -
How about Hamilton running his mouth the past few days? Said kimi didnt have the balls to brake late! hahaha,

BMW is yet to confirm it's drivers, I really think Alonso is on the cards for them.0 -

I still say Alonso will go for dough and sign with Honda, especially if Heidfeld keeps up this improved performance. Although if that's the case, BMW and Renault may simple swap drivers.0
