So I haven't watch F1 since two years and than this first round in Sepang...What an amazing start from Hamilton and Alonzo...and what a great race from Hamilton this guy could become the reason why I'll watch some races again...Second F1 race and Massa had absolutely no Chance...Lewis Hamilton you're great...
and I'm very happy that M.Schumacher isn't there anymore even if he was really good I didn't like him...

Kimi is a selfish driver, massa got too excited and started to lose out on those corners and alonso of course is great.
But yeah, Hamilton is good, he had a good race. Not easy keeping two Ferraris behind you.

You did'nt watch last season at all? not even highlights? it was one of the best, Schumi was stunning and all class. even when he lost. he showed what class is. perhaps his stunt in monaco was not the best thing but watching him make that comeback was great. It's strange not seeing his name on the grid.
Hamilton is becoming by far the most interesting thing to watch in this early stage of the season. I am a Kimi fan, and I would loved to have seen him get past Hamilton to be on a par with Alonso in the points, but it was absolutely thrilling to see Lewis hold him off in those last few laps. Hamilton is displaying that fine balance of cool aggression that a great F1 driver needs.....he knows when to play it safe but he's not afraid to go for those gamble moves....which so far have paid off for him.
It's interesting that the race was almost a replica of Melbourne at the front, just swapping the red car for a silver and orange one. I get the feeling we're going to see it swing back and forth between McClaren and Ferrari all year, though it would be nice if a few other teams could find a bit more speed so we have more than a 2 horse race. Early days though of course, last year Ferrari were abysmal at this time and they turned it around in spectacular fashion.

Even without Hamilton, kimi would not of gotten past alonso easily. Even if the Ferrari is a faster car (which it is by a couple clicks)
I dunno, I'm just not impressed with kimi, I mean he's a good driver, he's got skills, but he has some major issues. Oh yeah, kubica is another driver to look out for. also that BMW is quick. but one thing that I can't figure out is why the hell are Renaults so slow? I mean they had some good speed last season.

It certainly wouldn't have been easy for Kimi to take Alonso, but Kimi would have it in him I think. Remember his last lap overtaking of Fisichella in Shanghai two years ago....that was a classic manoevure.
The BMW is indeed very impressive this year, as is Heidfeld at the wheel of it too. I'm not so sure about Kubica though. Apart from his debut race, he's not been a very consistent runner. I think he deserves the time to grow though. I understand why they are, but I sometimes think the teams are a bit ruthless on their new drivers. I'd have loved the see Christian Klein racing again this year. Only when they develop Montoya syndrome should they really be shown the door.
Renault were dropping off at the end of last season when they took out the mass dampner on the car. I think the Renault above any others really benefits from all these extra bits they keep banning on the cars, like the uplifting floor. They've still got that awesome launch control which helped them in the first lap yesterday immensely but they just don't have the speed right now to back it up.

I saw some highlights but didn't watch one entire race. A few years ago I waswatching every race, I liked drivers like Damon HILL. He was one of the racers who always drove at the limit, remember those races against Schumacher. I lost interest when they started to change every rule like to pass in a curve, just one wheel set and all this bullshit and because of Schumacher's domination. I didn't like him because of his person, he's very boring and didn't have a sense of humor ( Not like eddie Irvine

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen stamped his authority on the first practice session this morning, in the style of Michael Schumacher. Without preamble the Finn banged in a flying lap of 1m 33.670s to eradicate Jarno Trulli’s hold on fastest time, and followed it up with 1m 33.162s. Later team mate Felipe Massa, likewise using the same hard Bridgestone tyres, worked down to 1m 33.679s to go second, half a second adrift.
At the time the best McLaren could do in response was Fernando Alonso’s 1m 34.634s on the hard tyres, which displaced Lewis Hamilton by four-thousandths of a second. If the sands of Formula One racing have shifted since Malaysia, they appear to have done so in favour of the Prancing Horse.

Very interesting. I wonder if Ferrari have rather uncharacteristically shown their hand very early in this practice session......it would be unusual if they had.
I'd expect McClaren to improve on those times but this kind of duelling is great fun

Not really sure what was up with Alonso....he was acting as if he just couldn't be bothered today and it was quite unsporting that he didn't have a single good word to say about his teammate post race.
Most drivers seemed to be well on it today though. Coulthard was driving his best race in years until the driveshaft gave up, Heidfeld was very, very impressive today.....he's definitely making that BMW work for him. Davidson looked solid too until the engine failure and Kimi was as good as usual....it's shame Alonslow held him up in the early stint.
Hamilton vs Massa is turning into a great rivalry which will hopefully run all season.
What's most exciting at this point though is that this championship is wide open. I can't remember a time when after 3 rounds the champtionship was held in a 3 way tie. They kept saying that Massa is in there too, only 5 points behind and I think in that case you can't discount Heidfeld either as he's only 2 points short of Massa.
Awesome stuff....can't believe we have to wait a month for round 4!

I taped it so i'll check it out when I get home but I saw the results. I'm happy massa won and I gotta say, Hamilton is starting to bother me! haha, But what a driver he is. He loves to attack. yep it's gonna be great watching Massa try and keep him behind. I hear Alonso said something about not getting much grip from the McLaren. I think he (alonso) is gonna be under a lot of pressure not to be outdriven by Hamilton this season.

well, that's a fair point. Because the car at the front generally has a good run of clear air you don't see too much overtaking for the lead.....we might have seen it yesterday has McClaren put those hard tyres on Hamilton's car a few laps earlier!

The Ferrari parade! Yeah I'd love to see more action in the front. I'm sure it'll heat up as the season goes on, it often does. It'll be nice if Mclaren can match the Ferrari for straight line speed.

Well Alonso set fastest practice lap today, I know that McLaren were working on a front wing or some sorts. so was Ferrari.
You know how F1 is, even small tiny changes can make that extra bit of speed or balance.

I'm never sure how much to believe with regards to practice laps times, especially when it comes to teams like Ferrari. They don't like to show their full hand until qualifying usually.
Be nice to see Massa do well this weekend so it can become a fatal four way rather than a triple threat for the championship.
I'm not holding out too much hope but if theres one team I'd like to see a huge improvement from it's Honda......it's getting heart breaking having to watch those Jensen Button interviews

Not bad but they really need to do some further modifications to that track to make this venue a little more interesting.

Monaco can go either way. It'll either be a straight forward parade or a tension filled, incident packed spectacular like last year.
Got to wonder about the reliability on that Ferrari though.....would be awful if the car just "breaks down" on the last corner in qualifying again :rolleyes:

I think people were too hard on Schmuacher after that, he made a mistake. Heat of the moment kinda thing.
He also raced one of the greatest races ever at Monaco that sunday, he came from pit lane to...5th? I think. On a non passing track like Monaco, that's special driving, great driving.

he was one of the dirtiest players in the game though......any time he thought he could do anything for an advantage he would take it. Most of the time there was nothing really wrong with what he'd do, you know, hanging about when the cars were weighed after qualifying to see how much fuel was in them, it was resourceful if nothing else.....I just think he pushed his luck with the Monaco incident and it did back fire on him.
But like you said, he drove an absolute blinder the following day and gave us one hell of a race.....I think he was/is a great driver and I would have liked to see him leave with the world championship as i think he did deserve it last year....his comeback after the beginning of the season was tremendous.
I can easily see Alonso starting to play dirty if things don't keep going his way......you know, unscrewing Hamilton's wheelnut when no ones looking or something lol
