I'm a bit late to the party but I couldn't help but laugh my butt off reading all the posts between Oppie1 and the rest of you guys. Oppie1 is actually a friend of mine and he always pings me when the Philadelphia Eagles lose or something about Howard comes up. I always make fun of him as a guy who has more passion for hating stern and the Eagles then rooting for his Flyers or O&A. He's mentioned to me that he's growing up but we'll see. It doesn't take much light a fire under his a$$ and get him going again.

As for me, I'm a Sirius guy. Hoo Hoo (as O&A put it) has made some of my long commutes to clients well worth it.

Oppie1 does seem to have more passion for hating Howard than anything else. How is his gf situation? The thread he started about that was entertaining as well.

How pissed do you think Artie was when Duran Duran starting ripping Springsteen this morning?

OMG todays show was so funny. It's going to go down as one of the classics. Even at the end of the wrap up show, Artie was still going at it with Sal and calling him all kinds of names. Wow. Ridiculous funny.

I don't know... Artie can dish but can't take it as well. Sal came with guns blazing. I thought it was hysterical and how he got Artie all worked up was classic.

I agree, I think Artie has become a real dick lately. He calls High Pitch Mike a liar, but he lied about being out for heroin addiction for year!!! The worst thing about it is the only reason Beer League got made is because he was on Howard's show and then he lies to Howard because the movie people were going to pull the plug if he didn't get back to the show.

He calls Sal a contest winner, but Artie is as much of a contest winner as Sal was. Artie was the person they picked from the comedians who they were trying out. Richard was the person they picked from the people trying out for that job. Sal wasn't even picked there but Howard liked him so he hired him anyway.

Artie is funny on the show but Sal is right that everything else he has done has not been that great. His comedy is not that funny. He curses a ton and uses that as a crutch just like Sal and Richard use the show. Artie says Seinfeld isn't edgy, which though true, at least his standup is funny.

I agree. I think arty is funny on the show but outside of it, I'm not that interested. He's gained an audience from being on howard's show and that's about it. In this past year, he's always talking about money.... it's like he's obsessed with how much he makes and likes to remind everyone that he's made it. It kinda rubs me the wrong way but at the same time, he does contribute to the funniness of the show as does sal and richard. Sal was pretty much spot on, I thought. Sal is the most vicious when it comes to personal attacks, more so than anyone on that show. The fact that he got to arty so much that arty threatened him, was classic. It showed that Sal struck a bunch of nerves and perhaps touched on some things that people may have been thinking of Arty for a long time.

Arty is funny but he ain't really that much more funny than Sal. I haven't seen his standup but the roasts, he's average at best. Sal's roasts are pretty damn funny and so personal that it even agitates Howard which to me is funny as well. Great show. It will go down as one of the best...

    It was that funny.

I totally agree with you. Both Artie and Sal contribute funny stuff to the show. Sal had the balls to leave his high paying job to come to do something he loved. He is not the one who is always talking about how much money he could make if he was on a sitcom. Sal contributes funny stuff with the phone calls and his stuff on the roasts are some of the funniest stuff.

Bottom line is that Sal is downright vicious. He pissed off Artie so much that Artie tried to hurt him badly. What does that say? Artie can dish it out with the best of them but when the tide is turned, he obviously can't take it. It was almost schtick with Sal and Richard complaining about not getting respect and in a way you can tell they are just trying to get laughs but at the end, look who exploded and couldn't take the personal attacks... Artie. He needs to get over himself and move on now.

Hopefully Artie will be fired soon. He hates being there and doesn't even give Howard the respect of staying awake. But Artie doesn't have the guts to leave because he knows his career will be in the toilet as soon as he does leave.

  • first off, its been brilliant fucking entertainment the past couple days with this artie/sal shit.

Artie really needs some serious fucking help though...as if that wasnt already known, this latest blow up with Sal has made it clear. The irony of the whole situation is so thick...Artie criticizes Sal&Richard's comedy so they get offended. They say so, Artie says they're pussies for being offended/too thin-skinned. Sal (however ineloquently and crudely) criticizes Artie's comedy and he goes into meltdown mode. This whole thing started because Sal&Richard are oversensitive and unreceptive to criticism, and as soon as Artie's comedy is criticised, he ends up pouting, saying he hates Sal, and fishing with "maybe I'd be better off unloading trucks" nonsense.

Artie's obviously cripplingly insecure -amongst other things- he needs to get Dr. Keith on the case yesterday ;)

I agree with you. I watched the whole thing on Howard TV over the weekend and softened on my "fire Artie" stance. I think one of the main things that annoyed me was that everyone was backing Artie when he was being super sensitive too. I guess that is just the nature of things but when you fight with someone in the studio they are always going to get the last word. The other thing that annoyed me was Artie calling Sal a contest winner like Sal's name was just picked out of a hat. He earned his spot there just like Artie did. I don't care if Sal is a comedian or not but his phone calls and roasts have sure made me laugh, as has Artie.
