Why is it okay for people to mock God and religion, but it's not okay to mock homosexuals?
I just wondered because I see religion mocked constantly, yet somebody says something about a gay person, and people flip out.
When life gives you lemons, throw them at somebody.

    Because religion is simply an ideology. Homosexuality is a clinical condition, just like being heterosexual.

    Homosexuality actually describes a primary sexual drive. Similar terms describing primary sexual drives are heterosexuality, pedophilia and ephebophelia. How you feel towards the opposite sex, is exactly how a homosexual feels towards same-sex, and exactly how pedophiles feel towards children.

    None of these terms should be deragatory, they aren't in a clinical context.

    So, I guess my point is, religion, like Christianity, Scientology, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc.. they are ideologies, beliefs, world views and are meant to be the subject of much debate and ridicule. Sexual preference is a biological fundamental element that drives a person's behavior and cannot be changed by will, it's not a belief system.

    you choose your religion. it is a belief, external to you as a person. homosexuality is not. it is who you are, as a person. just like you can mock democrats, but it's wrong to mock black people. one is jut a chosen social group, the other is your dignity as a person.

    But what if a person doesn't believe somebody is born gay? What if I believe it's a choice? And what if some people are so convinced by what they have seen or gone through, that they have no choice?

    I don't believe being gay is something somebody is born with. That right there itself is an idea, not a truth. Nobody can prove being gay is something you're born with, it's just something some people believe. That there is a God cannot be proved, it's a matter of faith.

    I myself am a Christian, and I believe people who mock God are devil possessed, as are gays. But that's going to make a lot of people mad at me, I don't care, but it's a statement I am making. Would I get on tv and mock them? No.

    I get offended when people mock God, but nobody cares. But if somebody mocks a gay, everybody gets ticked off. Makes no sense and it's typical of the times.

    According to the PJ regs, you can believe an apple is a pear and it becomes your reality to which no one can refute. So by all means, hate fags, I'm sure they will just realize that it's your opinion. Regardless of the fact that it's been objectively proven that people are born homosexual. This place isn't about facts and shit, it's about prejudice, hate and opinions.

    it can be proved. they're very close to discovering which genes are responsible for homosexuality. when they do, i wonder if you'll suddenly be ok with abortion when you know you can get rid of homos that way?

    Dude no-one really mocks God as such, they are mocking people that use him as a reason to look down on people as devil possessed and force outmoded rules/beliefs on everyone else.
    We have education now to tell us that we need to work the fields to survive and not kill each other, we dont need institutionalised religions.

    Personally im not sure about the big G but i know one thing, if he cant take a joke then fuck him :)

    another interesting thought would be why is god automatically assumed to be a he? god created us, but males can't create, only females...?

    also, to the original post i'd say a big difference would be religion is an idea, a gay person is a PERSON. i can think a certain fashion style is crazy, stupid, whatever, it's different when it is focused towards an individual w/ feelings and emotions

    You feeler you, no wonder the ladies like you. But we agree, I just think the way you said it is more popular.

    About the females creating thing. That's not exactly true. In humans women can only create other women by parthonagensis and under very rare circumstances. It actually requires a very rare non-hereditary genetic mutation. Typically, women require a man to create life. On the other hand, lizards can be hemaphoditic and some are by nature, they use a different set of chromosomes for sex determination. In those cases the hemaphrodite has both sets of gonads, ovum and sperm. They may be loosely referred to as females, though I'm not certain if they are in any scientific form. In this regard perhaps God is a hemaphrodite. ;)

    In addition to the thread, I would ask, why is it ok to ridicule or mock Odin, Anunnaki, Zeuss or Scientology? Why is it ok to mock Eminem?

    it's not ok to mock either one, but if there was a choice, i'd rather take my chances on mocking a homosexual. a homosexual can't throw U into hell to burn for eternity.
