why would He want to help someone who thinks that he knows more than Him. He's perfect. He made the mind. you'll NEVER know more than Him so don't be wise in your own eyes.

I know the answer! It comes down to God being a Godly perfect whereas man is only manly perfect and made a imperfect decision in the eyes of God's perfection. Does that make sense?
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire

I take offense to the word "Jap". But, "Jap" in it of itself is not an offensive word, IMO. It's just an abbreviation. It's like "Bob" instead of "William".
But, in this case, we dropped an atomic bomb on "William" while calling him "Bob" the whole time in a less-than-respectful fashion. We also locked up "William's" family in internment camps and confiscated their multi-million dollar California properties, only to reimburse them decades later for a fraction of their market value.
Yea it didn't to me either. That's what I was told by a man who "read the bible 16 times" and continues to read it once a year. Inevitably every discussion we have comes down to "because God said so". As long as that works for the person saying it, nothing else really matters.

I agree God does hate fags, and partly that's why I hate God.
why would i go to a website when i don't need it. God doesn't hate "fags" as you say. He would like them to come back into his fold. just like the prodigal son. God gets a bad rap. why is it always God's fault? but isn't it the human desire to always blame someone else for their OWN actions.
Here is a challenge. Make yourself gay, then change back, unless you find you want to remain gay. The claim is that gay people can change to straight, but they don't actually want to do that, those who have tried, failed. So perhaps a straight person who believes a person can change their sexual drive will change to being gay to prove it's possible. My suspicion is that they cannot even try. I doubt that anyone who makes these claims could even attempt to become gay. The thought would never cross the mind, and if it had, it would be dismissed promptly. I can't become disgusted with women. If I turned on a porn video, it would take some mental control to stop from getting an erection. Gay porn, I couldn't even watch it, it would probably cause a gag reflex. Anyway, just ranting on because I want to really make the point that sexual preference is not a preference, it's a drive.
why would i want to take a challenge like that when it goes against the obvious. can two gay people have a child? i don't think so. if everyone was gay there would be no children. the fact is that God can do the impossible, even when YOU think He can't. EVERYONE gets different desires, drives, and temptations. Jesus was tempted in every way possible, yet He didn't sin. it's how you handle the desires, drives, and temptations through God. the bottom line is sin makes God run from us. if your steeped in sin, it's going to be pretty hard to get out of that sin without the word of God. believe in your scientists and your books. i'm trying to shed some light on the subject to anyone who wants to learn. the people who seek God out will find their answers. if you don't want God, He'll stay far away from you. if you draw near, He'll draw near to you. it's everyone's personal choice. if you believe things can't be done, they won't be done. negativity is through the devil. positivity is through Christ. keep trying to disprove God with your own logic. in the end He'll make a fool out of you. like i said, whether you're alive or dead, the truth will finally make itself known. the things that are hidden will finally come to light. you think it bothers me that people mock God or say harsh things about Him? say what you want. believe in what you want. one of us is right and one of us is wrong. time will tell all.
I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.

Right, it's obvious that you can't turn gay, so why would you expect someone who is gay to turn straight?
You will never know if you are wrong. If you are right you will possibly spend eternity in heaven, or hell. If you are wrong, your entire existence will end, you will have no experience, it will be as if there is nothing, not even time. Kind of like sleeping, more like prior to existence.

And, if I'm not mistaken, christians don't want gays to turn straight. Christians want gays to stop living in sin and to stop indulging in homosexuality. I'm not saying it's easier one way or another.
Are you struggling with undesired same-sex attractions? Maybe you have been a Homosexual for a long time, but now are searching for a way out. You have come to the right place! Love God's Way is offering hope and help to people seeking freedom from being Gay. We believe and we have seen in thousands of lives that this freedom is possible through the power of our C.H.O.P.S program working in our hearts and minds.
The bottom line - you shouldn't be gay! You can lead a life of fulfillment and happiness as God intended, a life far better than what your Gay life has offered.

it seems that your idea of compassion applies only to life on earth meaning if God were compassionate there would be earthly rewards and no earthly suffering. What if the true meaning of compassion was to go to heaven for eternity? It seems we (humans) want to project our idea of good / compassion on God rather than acknowledge that we might not know the greater "good" which is I think why people get frustrated with God. We start from a faulty premise of what good and bad should be and if it doesn't fit our idea of good and bad then it can't possibly be good. A presupposition Christians have is that God has unlimited knowledge and we have limited knowledge. Is it fair to apply / compare our limited knowledge with His unlimited knowledge. For instance, if you were a first year engineering student would you tell the worlds most renowned engineer that he was wrong about something when your background / knowledge pales in comparison to theirs?

no not at all. my idea of compassion is to acknowledge when mistakes have been made and make allowances for the fact that people, myself included, are not perfect. and when a situation arises for the first time to give guidance rather than judgement. however my outlook would change if the 'sinner' refused to see the error of their ways. or even refused to acknowledge what they were doing was wrong. let's face it Mankind's natural curiosity got the better of him in the garden. Why is it okay for people to mock God and religion, but it's not okay to mock homosexuals?
I just wondered because I see religion mocked constantly, yet somebody says something about a gay person, and people flip out.
I don't think it's ok to mock religion or sexual orientation. Mocking isn't nice. People have opinions on anything, sure, but I think religion is as close as skin, and sexual orientation is, too. People can discuss lifestyles, and it can be discussed respectfully. I bet I can't stand it when someone disses me as a Catholic as much as a gay man can't stand it when someone disses him because he's gay. It reflects poorly on the person doing the mocking.

keep trying to disprove God with your own logic. in the end He'll make a fool out of you. like i said, whether you're alive or dead, the truth will finally make itself known. the things that are hidden will finally come to light. you think it bothers me that people mock God or say harsh things about Him? say what you want. believe in what you want. one of us is right and one of us is wrong. time will tell all.
what if you are wrong and you end up being the fool?
i know your response will go something like this: "i am confident that i have chosen the correct path because the word of God and what He says" or something like that. Such devotion on your part.
However, what if someone has as strong of a devotion to another belief and they believe that YOU will be proven a fool? Essentially you are saying that YOUR view is correct because you believe in it more and your belief (God) says that you will be saved and everyone else is a fool. Thats pretty harsh and not very open minded...
What if I don't believe in Hell... if I truly don't believe in it and am devoted then my belief system should negate your belief system in God and prevent me from going to a place you call "Hell".(since in my mind it doesnt exist, just like in yours it DOES exist)
Many of the Christians (more Catholics) that I have encountered in my life are "open minded", as long as you believe in the same thing as them...
essentially it is going to turn into a big game of "i'm rubber, you're glue" with beliefs and we'll see which one sticks... or doesn't... or something
The Sentence Below Is True
The Sentence Above Is False
i agree, mocking isn't nice. but i feel that nothing should be held so much on a pedestal that we lose our sense of humour over it. i don't mean individualistically but more as an institution.
I'm not sure where the humour comment applies as I only read the first post, and responded to the first post. Is the first intent of mocking to be humourous or to be hurtful? I think it's to hurt someone. I would suspect that an unkind comment on "all gay men" would hurt an individual as much as a comment on "all Catholics" would hurt me. It may, it may not. Could a person put him or herself and what he/she believes on a pedestal? Sure, why not, no one else may.

I could argue that God did give guidance (ten commandments / covenants (adamic, mosaic etc...) and still had interactions with Adam and Eve after "the fall". Mankinds curiosity did get the best of them and they lost the ability to be fully in God's presence. But God did keep the path open to interact with Him. I guess God does give guidance (throughout the OT and NT) but if you don't follow the guidance judgement will occur.

The risk I took was calculated, but man, am I bad at math - The Mincing Mockingbird
yes you're right. i was thinking that perhaps i should have elaborated more and included that mocking is derogatory and cruel in nature. so mocking and humour are incompatible as far as i can see.

I agree.
he did. did you not hear about david koresh? he said he was the second coming of jesus, just like jesus used to say he was the son of god. why do you doubt him?
that is a burning question

the INDIVIDUAL is accountable for their OWN actions. we're not robots. once again, the human being trying to blame something else.
it's obvious you can't turn into a dog, so stop barking. you know as well as i that being gay isn't natural. your talk is nonsense.
kind of like sleeping, huh. then what stops you from putting a gun to your head like kurt cobain? what's that i hear????? OH, because you WANT to live. if you're SO SURE about death being like sleep, then what stops you? just like the wind, you don't know where it comes from or where it goes. you ALSO don't know where you came from and where you go. don't act like you know death is like sleeping. you may be smart in other areas, but in this one you're misled.
