I think you are familiar with the fact that there is vast information that bombards us in each day. The information we hone in on and process is dictated to us by our programmed brain filters. So what we choose to pay attention to of the myriad combinations available at any given time remains reality, no matter how we look at it. I learned a long time ago that my general programming sucked and caused me to filter in and process life in a way that made me miserable and wanting to take my own life. Not to mention that I experienced many painful imbalances. I have also realized that no one is going to hand my dreams to me, so I have changed my perspective to happily and "will"ingly create dreams instead of problems.Ahnimus wrote:But, you admit, you aren't literally creating a new reality. You can't simply wish the spider away and it's gone. You need to physically interact with reality to get rid of the spider.
As for spiders, I love them. I co-exist peacefully with spiders. I don't need to wish a spider away or remove it. I'm very cognizant of reality.
I just have always fit well within the genders roles in my life. I loved having my kids. My dream was to be with them and raise them into decent people. I loved staying home with them, and had no desire for personal success beyond that. I love when men are protective towards me. I acknowledge that in general, men have 2 1/2 times the musculature of women. While I lift weights for health purposes, I love that men tend to be stronger than I am. Why would I compete???? I love food and therefore love to cook--okay, I'm not great on housekeeping--but I'm artistic and I love home decor. I love dressing up and being feminine and doing my hair and getting attention for my appearance. I love when people open doors for me. I also open doors for others when I can. I also have numerous areas that I relate to men on, intellectually and logically being one of them. I've often taken non-traditional gender roles in taking the "intitiative" with men in terms of approaching them, etc. I've got a lot of strong traits...I'm in touch with my animus, so to speak and I love that balance. I find that because I'm comfortable with these things, that I naturally attract people who are like minded, and balanced as well, and can relate. So, I'm confused. I'm identifying negatives within our social norms and gender models. I also see many positives in them, but there is much miscommunication over them. Everytime a man says "Women do this.." or a woman says "Men do this..." they are creating a negative image about the gender role and passing it on to others who may or may not reciprocate. In my experience, men and women tend to agree with each other, which further solidifies the gender model with negativity. If you are suggesting that you prefer to say "Men do this [positive]" instead of "Men do this [negative]" then I suppose you are postulating a positive gender model, unfortunately that is quite rare, and a very admirable quality indeed.
I guess, I'm just not understanding the language.
I realize there are a lot of things in society that appear as not-optimal. I also believe that on each level, everything has a function. And as we evolve, what isn't working will fall away as we increase our vision and find new workable solutions. We are moving forwards. and yes, we all play into the roles and stereotypes, positively and negatively. Ultimately we need both sides of the coin in order to have a coin. When I looked negatively upon men, I actually drew a lot of negative situations involving men in my life. and when I changed my view, my life and what I attracted to me changed, too."The opposite of a fact is falsehood, but the opposite of one profound truth may very well be another profound truth." ~ Niels Bohr

If a spider on/near a cupcake threw me off balance, I'd consider myself a little imbalanced.Ahnimus wrote:I'm not satisfied with any of your answers. And for many people that's okay. If they pulled me from the pursuit of my dreams, then I'd get exactly what I was looking for.....what I'm programmed to see. And for many people that's okay.
I've had so much success with this approach. For example, I used to believe men were abusive and that the large majority were sexually assaultive. I then attraced abusive man after man and sexual assault after sexual assault. Since I've learned to focus differently, I've come to attract cool, intelligent, reasonably balanced men who can not only handle, but who actually appreciate strong, intelligent, reasonably balanced women. Within this philsophy, I have reason to believe I won't attact the axe wielding maniac.
