Let me state that I'm not calling you personally an idiot. I am simply stating my belief that only an Idiot would believe that Israel is a victim in all of this. Israel has been engaged in a brutal military occupation for the past 40 years and is supported 100% by the worlds only superpower. They are oppressing a people who are struggling to feed themselves, and who are living in a state of extreme poverty and desperation. Therefore: only an Idiot would believe that Israel is a victim in all of this. I hope this brand of logic doesn't get me banned again.
hamas is the elected government. their charter states that it wants the destruction of Israel.

if the charter stated "the destruction of Israel" (only in the occupied lands). I'd say you have more of an argument.

you are only playing the victim card because one side is much stronger then the other. just because you are weak doesn't automatically make you the victim.

So just because Israel doesn't outright say they want to destroy Palestine but then do everything they can to actually do it...it lets them off the hook??? Because the place looks pretty damn destroyed.

If you are way bigger than you're opponent and use much greater force on them and their innocents....then you are a bully. You've lost any right to be the victim.
If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

really? they can make the gaza strip a parking lot if they wanted. or dont put any blame on the corruption of hamas and palastinian authority for the misfortune's of the people. . I'm sure they only look out for the best for everybody.

Israel has no claim of legitimacy until it withdraws to the 1967 borders and begins complying with international law. If after that happens certain elements of the Palestinians continue to attack Israelis I guarantee you that you will hear me criticizing these Palestinian elements just as vehemently.

Both sides are guilty and both have innocent victims. But one side is using too much force on an already terribly crippled opponent.

no, but don't whitewash it...don't act like we are the holy savior for democracy, humanity and all that is good that does no wrong and the world should bow at our feet and thank us for 'protecting' them

    CLOSE.

if you are talking college and higher eductaion then, yes, those things are certainly taught...but your common sense should tell you how obviously far more go to kindergarten-high school where those things on average are NOT taught than go to college

personally, I think what you wrote is a bunch of bullshit. history is history......its up to the reader to find out more, locate different sources, opinions, etc.

like I said, go to any college campus in america and you will find professors teaching how wrong and evil our country can be.

History isn't history. Most books written about George Armstrong Custer praise him as an American hero. The truth of the matter is that even his own men despised him, and he was a rapist and murderer of pregnant women and children. Howard Zinn's history isn't the same history as you find in most orthodox text books.
Intellectuals have a responsibility to tell it from as many angles as they can. Ultimately they have a responsibility to tell the truth. It isn't right that a lecturer or author of a textbook should omit certain things and focus on others to the detriment of the truth. That is tantamount to lying.

    It is lying.

There is another point of view on the writing of political history, and I don't remember who said it. It was said: "History should be re-written every 20 years."

The land belongs to palestine not Isreal, So what claim does Isreal have? It's an illegal occupation full stop.

If Isreal wanted peace they wouldn't steal peoples land, what is wrong with what they were given?
Keep on rockin in the free world!!!!

The economy has polarized to the point where the wealthiest 10% now own 85% of the nation’s wealth. Never before have the bottom 90% been so highly indebted, so dependent on the wealthy.

trying to offer the Middle East nearly 800 years of Western enlightenment stretching all the way back to the Magna Carta is horrific?????

That made me laugh... 800 years of western enlightenment! Try checking out western history before making those claims! Looks like the western world is trying to impose THEIR values on the eastern world (history repeating itself...).

Western culture and values are no better or worse than eastern culture and values.... Also, looking back centuries, try checking out how much our western culture (including arts, science, maths, language, etc. ) owes to 'eastern enlightenment' - you will be surprised.

And continue to expand their 'settlements', depriving palestinian families of their land & home (I mean personal land - orchards, fields and family homes being destroyed...), infrastructure (roads blocked and no longer accessible bar for israelis, water being diverted to the settlements, leaving palestinian homes high and dry, etc...) These are just a couple of examples.... the list is long. One cannot be surprised that these actions propagate hatred.
