    Throwing "a spanner in the works" because you don't like authority is just childish...plain and simple. I used to do that all the time and eventually realized I was just being a moron.

    Lots of people complain about authority figures until they get helped by one. We should constantly question and keep authority in check with democratic oversight, but we should also respect the need for it too.

    i don't have a problem with people in authority per se. if someone is in an authority position and actually does a good job of it, leaves ego out of it and is focused on what needs to be accomplished, more often than not what one bristles at in regars to *authority* is a non-issue. it is the ABUSE, and the power-trippy types....that undermine authority and give it all a bad name. and it IS interesting, from a human perspective...how many do bristle at authority....how some just fall in line, completely unaware.....and just how many do choose to abuse whatever perceived 'power' of authority they may have. i find those with the least amount of 'control' seem to be the ones who most abuse whatever 'authority' they may have. not all of course, but in my personal experience....happens often enough. so i have a very mixed view of it....good and bad......really depends on who is involved. so to say i take issue with *authority* in and of itself, just doesn't say or mean much to me.

    Anyway, Yes authority and I do not mix well. Never have. I've always found a way to do whatever I want and fuck those who say different.

    Like authority in this day and age deserves any respect. And I'm not talking about the individual, I'm talking about those people that perpetuate the tread-mill, the status quo, the turbine - to take a term from 'One Flew Over The Cuckoos nest'. You want to contribute to that soul destroying, money-spinning, war machine? God for you. I'd rather see it burn to the ground. This world needs more individuals, not more robots.

    I said the NEED for authority still needs to be respected and accepted. That doesn't mean any particular authority system that exists in the world today deserves our respect...in fact, most of them don't imo.

    anyway, she was getting quite upset with him and she didnt want to say anything.. so we swapped seats... and after about 24 mins of me muttering and glaring at him he got the idea. after the interval he swapped seats with one of his lady friends... it makes me mad just thinking back to that actually!!!

    bus drivers to me are the worst fuckers in the world for authoritarianism.. they are the fucking spawn of the devil and Myra Hindley.
    oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    Depends who the bouncer or usher is. Though in my experience most people in these jobs try too hard to please their bosses and feel the need to adopt a certain bravado.
    We need more individuals, not more jobsworths.
    People are generally ridiculous.
    The sooner people realize that there are actually no 'bosses', no 'superiors', and no 'authority', the better off we will be.
    Too many people are too easily offended.
    Not enough people in this world have been told to fuck off.

    If there were no bad people in the world, and every individual could always make the best decision for themselves as well as their community, then I'd agree with you. But for now, we need authority. We don't need to be robots and fall in line, and we don't need to look up to authority figures, but we do need authority. No one in their right mind will seriously argue against that.

    I do disagree. You are right, most people are generally ridiculous. That's why I'm happy to have bouncers and ushers... to keep the fucking douchebag morons out there from annoying me every time I leave my house. I'd rather have a bouncer paid to keep morons out of the bar so that I don't have to waste my energy knocking the shit out of some annoying prick every time I head to bar.
