well, to get techinical about it...
pearl jam warmed up at the showbox and played 2 more larger "warmup" shows in boston... both states that were won by kerry0 -
Nader is in. Now I KNOW there will be a VFC tour. HAHAHAHAHAHA0

KDH12 wrote:Correct me if I am wrong however the point of the VFC 2004 wasn't that a bunch on Bush supporters would come to the show and all the sudden change their minds.....
It was to raise money to donate to organizations that promoted the idea of change and so they could focuses the money towards the swing states...
I was a Bush supporter that went to the shows. Two great shows. Toledo wasn't great until Uncle Neil showed up, but Grand Rapids kicked some serious ass.
The VFC tour was pretty stupid though. That money could be better served elsewhere than some stupid political machine. Obama is raising 40 mil a month, why not have the proceeds from the VFC go to charity instead of paying some politician in hopes they will be able to help charities.0 -

Haha, a Democratic winning his home state of Massachusetts? Pearl Jam provided a miracle.0 -
Sexy2aFault wrote:Nope, they played Grand rapids and Michigan voted Demo. Of course Michigan always votes demo based on Detroit, but anyhow.
Hmmmn..... Detroit keeps voting for Democrats. How's Detroit been doing? How about those Democratic leaders and union leaders? They've really turned Michigan into a thriving metropolis. I think 4 bedroom homes are selling for almost $50,000 now.0 -

Jesus...you are one angry dude. The Obama support is admirable, but Dems will be best served by cooling it on the Bush-bashing (or "McBush" et al.). When I stepped into the polls in '04, "Not Bush," "Anyone But Bush," or "Bush Sucks" weren't on the ballot. Efforts need to be focused on getting behind someone...no one was actually getting behind Kerry (for good reason, I presume). For further reference, see the Giant Douche/Turd Sandwich episode of South Park.0 -
This is exactly why I think Ed didn't announce any tour dates in WA. I have a strong suspicion that Seattle (and others) will be getting Pearl Jam shows closer to the election. This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper0

WTF are you talking about? Who is Bush bashing in this thread? If someone implies you are making things up do you just roll over and take it like a bitch? So it's not just me then! I've been trying to explain this to a Pac NW area fan...and s/he just won't hear it. S/he is too pissed off and hurt that Ed "abandoned them".This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper0 -
If they have any balls they would tour the south and especially Texas with any VFC tour.
By touring the west coast and northern states it's kinda like preaching to the choir.the Minions0 -

The purpose of playing the states they did in 2004 was to hit the "swing states". California and "The South" definitely aren't considered "swing states".
"All concerts were held in swing states, to benefit MoveOn.org and to encourage people to vote against George W. Bush (and implicitly, and in some performances explicitly, for John Kerry) in the 2004 Presidential election campaign."
