    i pulled away from him. stepping out of the shower i turned the hot water off. arlo yelled when the cold water hit him. but i didn't care, i was already pulling my robe around myself and halfway out the bathroom door. i went to my bedroom closing the door behind me. i had barely sat on the bed when the door opened and arlo stood there.

    'what? you don't even respect closed door now?'

    so it was gonna be like that. i could play this game. i got dressed and as i walked out the door i said loudly that i'd be back later. i was on the street before arlo caught up with me. he called for me to wait up.
    i didn't. i felt him grab my arm. i pulled it from his grip and glared at him.

    'don't grab me arlo.'

    i looked past hamish and saw arlo hanging back by the stairs. hamish said something i didn't quite hear. i asked him to repeat it.

    I'm OK Hamish, I am just late.

    I saw Arlo close my door and walk down the street. He didn't wave and didn't say goodbye. I was so angry with him leaving that I didn't hear Hamish's question.

    hamish could see i was distracted. but hamish being hamish, it didn't stop him asking questions. he shoved his hands deep into his pockets as we walked along.

    i stopped. two steps later so did hamish. he looked at me.

    ' i don't know what i'm doing hamish. i want to be around arlo but then sometimes i can't stand to have anyone that close to me. he touches me or says something and my skin crawls. god what the hell is wrong with me?'

    'i don't know. i don't want to screw this up with arlo. but i don't..... fuck. i don't know what i want hamish. i'm not even late for anything . i just said that cause i walked out on arlo, i didn't expect to bump into you or anyone else i knew. and quite frankly i thought you'd leave me alone. i should have known better. so were you coming to see me for any particular reason?'

    'you're lying hamish. everytime you lie to me you get this tremor in your left eye. what's going on?'

    the muscles in his neck tensed and he glanced to the side. i knew it. something was going on.
