    freya stood across the road from anna's building. she needed to know for sure whether or not there had been anything between vincent and her sister. she was almost certain something had happened. otherwise she found it difficult to understand their mutual dislike. she was sorry for attacking anna like she did at the farm. she knew that whoring wasn't one of anna's defects despite what she had said. she was angry at her sister for once again being the centre of attention. at twenty nine she should have been past such petty jealousies, but she wasn't. to freya everything that anna set her mind to she managed to accomplish, be it her art work or totally writing herself off. freya had enough trouble keeping her marriage together and perhaps it was that that clouded her judgement towards anna. she didn't want to be alone. and if that meant putting up with vincent's shit then that was her decision to make. right or wrong.
    freya sighed and started across the road.

    no. that wouldn't do. anna would just slam the door in my face, freya thought. anna frustrated her sister like no other person she'd ever known. they'd gone through so much growing up and she thought that she was the one that had handled it. that she'd managed to get out from under their father unscathed. turned out freya was in absloute denial. at least anna had channelled her rage into her art. then again her sister was now a diagnosed depressive so maybe freya was the lucky one. no. she didn't believe that for a second. she'd seen what anna had gone through all these years. there's no way freya would wish that upon her worst enemy let alone herself. or her sister for that matter.
    freya stared at the wooden door in front of her. maybe if she stood there long enough, anna would sense she was there, open the door and welcome her in.you're a 'fraidycat freya, can't even face your own sister.

    She rang the bell even though she much rather hadn’t. When I opened she just stood there for what felt like a minute, when finally she said; We need to talk, or better yet I need to ask you something. She said it in a manner that should have made it easy for me to deny her this request, as it happened I could not. She seemed different than usual, most of the time Freya was the type of person that preferred light conversation. This didn’t seem like an opening line for a light conversation.
    I always thought of Freya as a shallow and uninteresting person, and truth be told most of the time that wasn’t without justification. Not this time though, she seemed to have an frantic urgency about her that she was trying to hide. Unsuccessfully, but I choose not to break this illusion that apparently gave her the power to do whatever she came her for.
    It most have taken a few seconds to reply to her request, because she asked again. As I was still somewhat astounded by the change within my sister I muttered; ueh …. Yeah sure come in

    it must have thrown freya to see johnny sitting on the windowsill, because she hesitated. he said hello and if took her a couple of seconds to react. by which timwe johnny didn't care one way or the other. he usually said hello out of pure habit not cause he particularly cared about someone 's presence.
    i didn't offer my sister a drink or any kind of snack. i didn't want her here but felt she had something she needed to unburden herself of. i crossed my arms across chest and stared at her defiantly.

    She seemed nervous and on edge. This was going to be interesting. I wondered if I should meet her request for privacy. I really didn't want to do this right now. I had my own state of mind to consider.

    i turned my back and started towards an unfinished canvas. i was having trouble working out which direction to go with it. but freya didn't have to know that. i felt her presence behind me just before she spoke.

    i looked at johnny. he already knew this story, but he decided to leave the room anyway.
    i looked back at freya. i closed my eyes momentarily to compose myself then looked back at my sister.

    'i wouldn't say bed exactly. i don't want to hurt you with this freya.'
