    and indeed anna did come back. two hours later. she found freya asleep on the sofa and arlo in her bed. she briefly thought it presumptive of him to wait for her in her bed. then she peeled off her wet clothes, dropping them into a pile near the door. she climbed naked into bed and cuddled up to arlo's apparently sleeping form. he flinched when her cold skin touched his warm skin.

    'ha i knew it. you can't pretend to sleep with me arlo.'

    anna rested her hand on arlo's stomach and kissed his shoulder. he reached his hand back and rested it on her thigh. he smiled when he felt her lips on his neck. she kissed his shoulder again and then rested her head on the pillow.

    vincent sat in his car across the road from anna's building. he knew freya was up there. he had seen her go in. he could wait. he wanted her to be alone. after the fiasco at the gallery he didn't want to have to deal with people getting in his way. he pulled his coat tighter around himself and closed his eyes. yes he could wait. for what he would do to freya, he could wait.

    arlo had woken up and went to climb out of bed. then he realised he was naked. he pulled the sheet around him and stood up.

    'give me a minute and we'll go take a look.'

    freya hesitated for a second and then left the room. arlo looked at anna.
