It's as blatant as Jack White/White Stripes' "Hardest Button to Button" ripoff of seminal Detroit punk rocker Mick Collins and his old band The Gories' "Sovereignty Fight."

The song is actually called Got Some...check out the embedded player on NBC's site...makes more sense doesn't it? Not like he's saying Get Some throughout the song, but he's saying Got Some.
I thought the song was really cool, I'm glad its not political LOL. I want that SINGLE Conan was holding. OK i gotta say it its not the best but its far from the worst cause they haven't and won't ever be there so LISTEN UP and PLEASE TURN IT THE FUCK UP
I know he was saying "Got some" throughout the song. I called it Get Some because that's what some credible sites were calling it. I think there are big political undertones with the song and the name of the album. And I love it. Not a fan of Got Some so far though because it reeked of something I'd heard before, and sure enough I found it: Devo.

It's a carbon copy in my book. As soon as Ed started the chorus over and over, I was wondering if I was listening to a cover song. Seriously.
The melody, chord structure and lyrical cadence - right down to the same two-word chorus delivery - are exactly alike.
How apologists try to defend it, i don't know. I've been as big of a fan as anyone else here since 95, and of course I hear lots of other influences/chord structures/etc on other PJ songs, but this one song is blatantly ripped off. Sorry, but it is. And it pains to type that, because I still love the band and I know the album is gonna rock regardless - 99.5 percent of the people who listen will have no idea about Devo.

It might be political.
"Are you dropping bombs/Or are you getting out?"
It will take me a while to digest the meaning. Which is what I love about this band. Which is why I think it is pointless to make a lasting judgment on this song right now.
We don't even know the real lyrics yet. We don't know the meaning. And that's the thing that always sets a Pearl Jam song apart.

Just because something sounds like something else doesn't mean it's "ripped off." Give me a fucking break.
Shall we discuss "Going to California?"

Discuss away Going To California. You'll be preaching to the choir here though.

And make no mistake: McCready was upfront about Given To Fly in saying he listened to Going To California over and over and it was an inspiration - whether consciously or subconsciously - for that song. It remains to be seen if Ed or someone in the band credits Devo when they talk about "Got Some". Even Jack White jams with the dude he ripped off for Hardest Button to Button.

No, Got Some and The Fixer are two songs. The Fixer reportedly is what the band plays in an upcoming Target commercial.

They sound similar because this clip is actually pj dressed up as Devo doing an early version of Get Some/Got Some :-) What is the real name of this song? Get Some or Got Some?
I didn't think this would get me so pumped up..!! I love it!!! Right into my veins!
The performance aside (not that it was bad, but the sound etc..), it is a great song!
I needed it...
I wish I could make out all the lyrics...I need to know!!
Edit (lyrics without repetitions):
Every night with the lights out
where you gone
What's wrong?
Every time you can try
but can't turn on
a rock song
I got some if you need it
Get it now, get it on, before its gone
Let's everybody carry on
Carrying on
Turn it up, set it off, before its gone
Let's everybody carry on
Carrying on
This situation, which side are you on?
Are you on the rise, are you falling down?
Let me know.....c'mon let's go yeah
I got some if you need it
This situation, what side are you on?
Are you dropping bombs, are you getting out?
Have you heard of diplomatic resolve? Yeah
Precipitation, which side are you on?
Are you drying up, are you a big drop?
Are you a part of fool detrimental?
Can't stop watching the peformance, it's great. I guess ed is a little winded, but watching it in HD with my soundsystem turned UP, it fucking rocks.
and unless your the dude who shook the first gourd all music is connected. In this case I don't see anything blatent...its not like Vanilla Ice and the extra note.

How anyone can say otherwise after having a listen needs their head examined.

Do you really think they sat down and consciously copied Devo’s material? That’s what blatantly ripped off would be.
So they might be similar . . . but not intentionally copied as you suggest.
