I think he wanted to give Ken Holland as much heads up as possible...I am of the opinion that him retiring and Stuart leaving may make it harder to sign Suter. Suter now might be looking to go to a team that he feels is in a much better shot to win the cup immediately.

I don't think the Wings will be in any trouble next year. Yeah, they're losing one of the best all-time D-men (who is irreplaceable), but they're a smart organization with LOTS of money available next season. A lot of players in the league would kill to play for such an organization, so I think they'll be able to work something out. They will make the playoffs like they always do, however they may not not be as dominant next season.

No...you didn't happen to catch any of those 11 games with him out...they did not even come close to looking like a playoff team and if he did not come back I think they miss the playoffs...plus White looked like the average D he is when Lidstrom was not in the lineup...they are going to miss this guy far more than people realize right now...he was like Gretzky he saw the game totally different...sorry Kenny has his work cut out for him this off season...and I for 1 don't think Suter would even be the best D man on is own team if they sign him, they would be Kronwall...yet they'll end up paying him more.

it wouldn't surprise me if the Wings go after this guy Justin Schultz instead of Suter and decide to rebuild with likes of Smith...and maybe make a play for Parisse,

You're probably right. I didn't pay too much attention to the Wings this past season so I didn't really get a feel for how they play without Lidstrom. I agree that White can show flashes of his potential, but at this stage of career I doubt he'd ever reach that level. I still think that Ken Holland is a smart man and will keep his team competetive, though I agree it will be tough.

Wings need to find someway to toughen Jon Ericsson up. He's like Pedro Cerrano in Major League 2.

I don't want to go through another season of muttering "goddamn it, ericcson" 4-5 times each game.

WINGS RULE !!! Can't f'n wait til the puck drops. In 2008 (june 25) in New York, during an encore, Vedder came out reading all the retired numbers of the hockey players at the Garden. After he was done, the crowd was chanting "Let's Go Rangers".......at the end, when the chant was winding down Vedder decided to tell the crowd that he likes The Red Wings......Hopefully the Wings win it, and then PJ can play the Joe Louis Arena the next day !!!!

Ha! It's true. Whenever I see another woman wearing a Redwings jersey, it makes me want to girl-fight her. Terrible.

Is Jonathan Ericsson a lot better this year or is the Wing's D so bad he looks good?

Very confused on this one ...
