PHILLY Friday 6/12 Pre-EV Show Gathering

It seems like there are going to be a bunch of people who have Friday during the day before the Eddie show to spend in/around Philly...Since there isn't an official pre-party due to the location of the Tower, I think it would be fun to try and meet up for lunch, or go somewhere during the day. Maybe end up at that bar near the Tower after...

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Some of us are going to the Meat Puppets show at noon...eventually making it back to the Waterford...if you want to try and meet up with us, PM me for my #!

    Depends on what the group wants. There are great Belgian beer bars (Eulogy, at 2nd and Chestnut, and Monk's, around 16th and Locust) that are right on the subway line to the Tower Theater.

    But if we have a big group, larger, less unique places like Buffalo Billiards and Triumph Brewery, both near 2nd and Market, would accommodate. They too are subway-convenient.

    If you're coming in with a friend or two and want a nice wine bar and meal with outdoor seating, Parc and Tria are near Rittenhouse Square (about a five minute walk from the subway) and really nice. But they won't work for a big group.

    I actually think the Waterford Inn, though a dive, could be a cool pre-game spot after 5pm. Someone would have to get there kind of early to reserve the space, but it would be nice to be able to relax and know you're right beside the venue.

    Last but not least, if all else fails, there's plenty of areas in the venue to congregate and enjoy a drink pre-show.

    If all else fails there are plenty of places on mcdade blvd.... Not too far from venue.

    awesome info--thank you! I guess it depends on how many people are interested in meeting up...I'm a big fan of dives, so the Waterford might be the perfect pre-show place :-)

    Sorry Janet, it took me a while to find the thread...
    My husband & I are down for any sort of gathering, pre or post concert. We're not picky, dives are cool. As long as there's good ppl, music, drinks, & maybe some food, we'll be happy as pigs in sh!t. We're driving down from Albany on Wed night & staying at the Days Inn near Springfield Airport (if this hotel/location sucks, please let me know while I still have time to change it). We're not familiar with the area, so we're pretty much at all of your mercy. Just give me a time/place & we'll be there. :D

    Any chance we can double dip and do the fund-raiser once you guys establish a pre show place to hang out? I would love to see the Philly/NJ peeps do something for a good cause!

    just my 2 cents: we probably should call places first and see if they can give us a small area to host the fund-raiser, and if yes, then decide and announce the place. I can do this if you want although I am not sure yet what time I can get over to philly

    Yes, you're probably right...my only issue is that I am leaving for Chile on Sunday and have a ridiculous amount of work to do before I leave, so I don't have much time to get this moving. I'll try to see what I can do though!
