btw - i just recently got another tetanus shot. no real 'reason' outside of my doctor asking, it being over 10 years since my last one...and seems a good 'just in case' precaution. i have no idea wtf is in it. i like to live on the wild side i guess...wooohoooo! :geek: i also have gotten the flushot the past two years running.......

i think, obviously, the internet is a GREAt thing...truly...amazing and wonderful. however, i also think it can make it too easy at times to get just WAY too caught up in things, b/c it's ALL out there to read, and to freak out about, to worry and to think wtf? anything and everything at your fingertips...from reliable sources to your neighbor harry next door making up shit for the fuck of it. mind you, i am not saying it's unwise or even unhealthy to be abreast of information, to know what's going on in the world, to be concerned....but yes, it's also healthy to not let it become all-consuming, let worry take over......good to step back and realize, the world will keep on spinning, and that....more than likely, tomorrow the sune will shine and you'll still be here to enjoy it and smile. vaccinations or not. so turn off the all caps key, relax and realize....even with how fucked up the world is...we're all still pretty damn lucky.

I get this stuff sent to all day long from all around the world. At first I did let it take over my life for about a month, until It became so depressing, I couldn't function. Besides, the board was getting a bit boring, I felt I needed to stir the pot a bit! hehehe

Oh goodness NO! This stuff comes from friends. I actually get most of my info from a friend of mine who tours with a very well know band, he is their guitar tech. He tells me all the crap he see and hears all over the world. So, it all comes from friends. I never post anything on those sites, or give out my info..Too paranoid, I guess..If you check out myspace, I'm sure you can figure out who he is...

I looked at just one tetanus shot (there are several listed becaue of various manufacturers). Don't worry! there's only somealuminmum in it. And you can also rest assured because its saftey and efficacy was tested on 58 whole people!

I'm looking at the DECAVAC tetanus vaccine. Oh yeah, they threw this in there too:

"Certain neurological conditions have been reported in temporal association with some tetanus toxoid-containing vaccines or tetanus and diphtheria toxoid-containing vaccines. A review by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) concluded that the evidence favors acceptance of a causal relation between tetanus toxoid and both brachial neuritis and Guillain-Barré Syndome.11 Other neurological conditions that have been reported include: demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system, peripheral mononeuropathies, cranial mononeuropathies, and EEG disturbances with encephalopathy (with or without permanent intellectual and/or motor function impairment). The IOM has concluded that the evidence is inadequate to accept or reject a causal relation between these conditions and vaccines containing tetanus and/or diphtheria toxoids.11 In the differential diagnosis of polyradiculoneuropathies following administration of a vaccine containing tetanus toxoid, tetanus toxoid should be considered as a possible etiology."

I also love the line up there that states "The IOM has concluded that the evidence is inadequate to accept or reject a causal relation between these conditions and vaccines containing tetanus".

It's very important to note the difference between "a casual relationship has not been found" vs. a statement like "This vaccine was found not to be the cause of...". The difference is huge.

Those headlines that read "vaccines do not cause autism" are very deceiving indeed. The studies they are referring to only point to "no causual relationship found". (Amazingly, there are valid studies that DO point to a casual relationship. Pubmed.gov FYI is where to find medical "studies")
