I thought they already announced that Phish will be the band to "Close down the spectrum"- which is in Sept.

The latest Phish rumors I've heard are them playing at the Wachovia Center in November, not the Spectrum.

As to the Sept/Oct tear down confusion, the original date was 9/30 for the final event, but it's pretty clear the Spectrum is open to pushing that back if they can squeeze some more money out of it.

Well from what I've heard, the Spectrum really wanted Bruce to be the last show for 9/30. But he's doing Giants Stadium that night so they are looking for a major act now for the 30th or looking to postpone the 9/30 date a week or so to get Bruce to close out the venue.

You might be right, but Bruce just played two nights there in June, which were billed as his last Spectrum shows.

And how many retirement tours have the Who had? And how many times has Ed said to a crowd at a venue see you next year? Plans change and they're musicians. I wouldn't take anything they say too seriously. ;)

Well, PJ did that in 03. They added a 3rd Boston show a week after the first 2 and they played the Spectrum in April, E Center in July and then added another one at the E Center in July as well.

It's not like fans wouldn't buy tix to see Bruce close out the Spectrum.

No, Pearl Jam has not been confirmed for the Spectrum...yet. I think your friend got confused.

Today on Preston & Steve ,on WMMR in Philly, they had a dude from Live Nation talking about upcoming Philly shows. He said that there was a lot being planned for the Spectrum this fall. This lead Nick from the show, who is a HUGE fan, to ask if there was any truth to the guys playing the Spectrum, because he's read a lot of rumors from this very message pit about PJ doing some shows at the Spectrum. The guy from Live Nation replied by saying something on the lines of "we have a lot of exciting shows planned for the Spectrum this fall".

Take it for what it's worth, but it sounded very promising to me.
Gadzooks! i heard this too, but i also heard either Jaxon or Matt Cord mention it a few days before that and added that that the info was from a reliable source...

Heard from a reliable source today(different than the others mentioned here) that PJ has been talking about 3-4 nights at the Spectrum with a possible announcement as early as the end of next week.....How sick would it be if Ed announced it at the Tower? :o

The show(s) will be in October. I'm not sure how many but the final EVENT to be performed at the Spectrum IS October 31st. The Spectrum is schedule to be blown up shortly thereafter. Many BIG acts will be performing for the final time there. The Spectrum is an awesome arena with 40+ years of sports & concert history which PJ is well aware of and even mention at the 2003 show.

So the Spectrum is pushing back it's closing date? It's been announced many times even a couple of weeks ago on the radio that the last event there would be 9/30?

9/30 has been the scheduled end date for a long time, but I've read quotes from Comcast-Spectacor recently that they were very open to pushing that back if they could attract some events.

I think that's because they still want Bruce to close the venue and he's booked 9/30. But we'll see.
