NO! some of the security guards check bags but usually if you hold one pocket open they don't look in the smaller ones. i've never been patted down either. we bring in liquor and just buy mixers.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
So what is the deal with the possible ACL TV simulcast on Saturday night at the auditorium? Is that still happening or what?
Anyone know :?:
I sent an email to ACL this morning. I'll let everyone know what they say.
There was a separate thread about this too, but no confirmation there either.
i know someone that works there and it's still happening. it's at hogg auditorium. keep checking the acl blog for info on the space available ticket drawing. they did the same thing for DMB.

I made the mistake of getting really drunk at the last TX PJ show in 03 and I barely remember it. Not this time though, on Sunday I'll be stone sober.

I've only "bought" off of Craigslist once. Like three weeks ago a guy supposedly had two passes that he was going to let me have at 150 a piece. He wanted me to use Greendot, which I did. I didn't feel comftorable because I could not find a seller history like on Ebay. Anyways, I negotiated with him until I came up with what I thought was a fair deal. I was going to pay for one pass and he was going to mail it, if everything went ok we would do the same for the second. Needless to say, he hussled me. I know it's not always like this, but I am VERY reluctant to try Craigslist again. I live in a smaller city, so there really weren't any local sellers that I could do a face to face transaction with.
Luckily though, a good PJer (Rachel-Raquel) sold me a pass through this board! I still need another though, if someone has an extra.
Have you looked out your window lately?
There may be an angry mob out there ready to string you up.

OK, I just got my answer from ACL as well. They confirmed they are doing a simulcast. It will be at Hogg Auditorium and more details coming soon.
ive never tried. but i can tell you this, they always feel up and / or open your back pack. when they feel it up they are always looking for something big and hard. wow that sounded kinky. so if you sneak it in, it should be on your person. i dont remember wands.
* Getting into the ACL TV taping is virtually impossible, unless you know someone that is a corporate sponsor. PBS hands out most of the tickets to sponsors, and lets them in first. If there is still room, they let the line of people outside in until its full. To get into the line outside, you have to listen to the radio the day of the taping and they tell you where to pick up stand-by tickets. Getting a ticket only lets you get in line, doesn't guarantee you get into the show. The timing kinda stinks, b/c the new ACL TV taping venue has a lot more room, but is in the W Hotel that is still under construction.
* The weather should be awesome and the venue will be spectacular. Last year, ACL Festival and the City got together and installed new grass and sprinklers to cut down on the dust. The park looks fabulous and by moving the date a few weeks later, they are virtually guaranteed excellent weather.
* When in town, check out the local restaurants. Austin is known for keeping it local and there are a lot of really great food stops. Anything sold from a trailer is going to be good. Torchy's Tacos, Lulu B's Vietnamese, Holy Cacao, Hey Cupcake!, and many others. Check out the trailer park eater on S. 1st st (different from the 'East-West' first street that is aka Ceasar Chavez)
* The running/biking trail around Town Lake/Lady Bird Lake is great, check it out.
* Drinking - Dirty 6th street for the college crowd, W 6th and 4th St for the folks with jobs. Stubb's and La Zona Rosa are great venues for side shows.

Last year I was stopped one day going in and they asked me to empty my cargo pockets because they thought I had a flask. It was my wallet. My husband thought it was hilarious because I don't even drink.
You're allowed to bring in 2 unopened bottles of water. Friends of mine have brought rum inside in water bottles that they opened and then fixed to look like they were still sealed. It only works with some brands of water.
I was going to start a thread of tips for ACL or maybe I should just put them all in this thread?

the people checking bags are volunteers so most could care less. look for the person just waving people on in. i've been every year and bring a bottle or a flask every time and have never had a problem.

* Parking around Zilker is impossible. A couple of good alternatives are to ride a bike in and chain it up, or make arrangements to get to http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=republic+square+austin,+tx&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=40.27343,93.076172&ie=UTF8&ll=30.268158,-97.747614&spn=0.005374,0.011362&z=17&iwloc=A Republic Square where they have buses running all day.

hahahaha "good info on parking". What a trade!
