I used to play drums in a band, and our practice room was in the basement of my parents house. One of the guys wrote a song and didn't know what to call it so it ended up being called Jim's House. So the name is a variation derived from that song.

when i first started getting online, i didnt have my own computer- i used the one at work. i wanted an email address, but thought i couldnt have one. my boss introduced me to yahoomail. he said to NOT use my name as my email address, but to use something that people who know me could remember.
at the time, my license plate was MENSANE...a variation on the cypress hill song. everyone knew my plate, so i went with that for my email address...and then just stuck with it for my screen name.
it's funny...when i meet people in person and tell them my screen name, they often say "oh..i thought it was pronounced Men-Sane....not Me-Nsane". some people call me Saney in person...lol.
When I first saw your screen name, I thought of the word "mensa" and then the obvious "insane". It made me think of the dichotomy between sanity and intelligence.
I used to work on a whale watching boat, we mainly watched killer whales. Each whale can be identified by their dorsal fin and their saddle patch, Okum who was whale "L10" was an adult male with a tall dorsal fin and he had an very small piece of his fin missing 2/3 of the way up his fin. This made him easy to identify as well he had a very mischevious character. The year after I quit working on the boats he went missing which in a social system where they stay with their family for life means that he died. He was always my favorite whale and I miss him.
Mine was a nickname that this guy gave me in college. He lived on my floor and one day my friend came asked if he had seen me. He said, "Jen? You mean PearlJamJen?" And the nickname stuck.
I picked Jammer because a lot of the clever Pearl Jam related names had been taken by the time I joined. We are all "jammers" so I just figured what better name could I pick? Why did you pick yours?
