I mean, I realize I'm good, but I never realized I wasthat good! Another couple tipped me $40 on $80!!! :shock:Take me piece by piece.....

I'm lucky enough to work for a company which caters for the middle-market (chain of Bakers). So the people who can't afford the classier stuff fall back on the cheaper (but still decent) goods which means this company has been posting profits all through this tough time. Hopefully things will stay that way.0

Since I can't afford to finish college right now and I'm going mad doing 2 retail jobs for no pay.... I decided to take bartending classes and go that route. Let's hope this works out a little better then what I'm doing. My parents aren't too keen on the idea...but I'm 28 and need to make my own decisions. I guess they fear I won't finish college. And well I guess my dad doesn't like the thought of me getting tips just cause I have tits. Oh well... Gotta do something, need a change."I'm not present, I'm a drug that makes you dream"0

I have been told today that I'll be laid off ...

I'm on furlough this week, and the first week in August. I'm covered for the 25% decrease in pay this month, but I just need to plan superwell for August. I know of three people who left my company because they were able to get other jobs. That's encouraging. DC is the association capital of the nation, and a lot of people just jump from one association to another. It's good to know in case the furlough turns into layoffs.
Well, it's also encouraged me to start studying for the GRE. The last time I took it was 1990. Who knew? There is no such thing as leftover pizza. There is now pizza and later pizza. - anonymous

i would say i'm lucky to work for a defence company (which is what i thought all of the last 6 months) but since the UK seems keen to get out of buying eurofighters.....who knows what's gonna happen to the companies that make it and rely on it....... :?
good luck to those who have been laid off though0 -
my work has turned into living hell. i've been talking to another company but getting dragggggggged along to say they least. so basically i have to say the world of work has turned me upside down and created misery.
i know the economy, and many say those who have jobs are lucky. i understand. but sometime that just aint good enough.PJ - 36

I got the news in February that my position will be terminated for budget reasons on November 1, after 8 1/2 years of employment. I was told to use part of every work day doing something to get a new job, so that's all nice. I realize that most people in my position don't get 8+ months to look for a job while still being employed. I applied to a handful of places that never seem to acknowledge they received my application/resume, the ones that did sent a questionnaire which contained the question of how much I currently earn. Then I don't hear back from them either. Less than 5 months left...AskPearlJam: PearlJama101-guest says: Who's idea was it for Eddie to play banjo on "Soon Forget"?
Eddie: I don't know whose idea it was but it was turned down.0 -

I may be going for promotion soona supervisor in another team is leaving at the end of the month so I'm gonna go for it anyway... cos, for me, this job is all about the experience and learning new stuff and I'm certainly getting to do that. Never gone for a promotion before, never needed to so this would be more experience
