To be honest, I sort of wish they hadn't announced any signing of anything, and just left it to be discovered when people opened up their sets. The way some people seem to be treating this up until this latest bit of information is that they expected theirs to be signed almost.
Does it not slightly register that this was announced in advance to help them sell more?
I remember the thread - the OP of that thread had stated he contacted the 10c and was told of the "plan" to sign as many as possible in the day...I agree if only 30-40 ended up being signed, that is a little disappointing. That said, I ordered day 1 without knowing if the no. to be signed was 5 or 500. I was happy to give my $$$ to the band as opposed to a retailer even if I could save a few bucks. I looked at it as though I was supporting the band and getting a free lottery ticket for an autograph. For those who jumped on board when they heard the chances of getting a signed copy were somewhat "better", I understand why they are bummed. Mods could have quashed that "rumour" when it was posted. Anyway, that's life, good luck to everyone. Certainly makes cracking the box exciting...
all excellent points, the signing was used to sell more, simple really, right or wrong thats why it was done.
They could have been more honest but they weren't. No one knows what a handful means, they may be playing us all by having them all signed but not wanting to let people know so its a surprise...who knows..
Is it important? no not really, its the box we all want isnt it? its whats in the box? but sure we'd all love a signed one, especially a collector like myself. The sad thing is I would think half of the signed ones will find ebay, and go for massive money. the band could combat that by spending a little time signing a shit load and making sure this thing doesnt become a $1000 on ebay.
I've gotta agree with many comments above, sure I'm one of the people who defend this band to the earth, but I really dont think it would have been too much to ask to sign a shit load.
Thos who say do you know how long it takes to sign something? Well i think we all sign something from time to time, in my work I sign my name around 200 times a day. I have a long name, a complicated signature but I could knock 100 out in 30 minutes very very easily, if someone was passing me things. So the give them a break argument doesnt sit so well. Sometimes giving something back is cool......
I'm really not trying to moan, just saying I understand a lot of the posts in this thread, and as funny as many of you find it, many people here are right.
The message certainly seems though, that never bank on something that isnt guaranteed otherwise you are likely to be disappointed....its a bonus and at least we are in with a chance small or large, we all have a little extra excitement in opening the box that we wouldnt have had if we bought it elsewhere so i think we should be thankful for that at least. And Mike (MJB) above is dead right at least we know PJ get the cut from the straight to source purchase rather than the retailers, that has to be a positive too
No "edder" for me. No big deal, but I have hunch from this and reading these boards over the years, along with everything else, Eddie HATES signing autographs. My guess is he would find himself among the people on this board who think "no big deal", and "who gives a fuck about a piece of paper with some 'chicken scratch' writing on it".
I'm not so sure about that. I heard that he took the time to sign autographs at a ton the shows this past summer on his solo tour- usually before the shows. He's just not that big on getting his pic taken.

I think Bob Marley said it best - why must the people believe in rumours? If people hadn't circulated "news" like this about the signatures, we could all be excited for this package to arrive, rather than this aura of disappointment/anger that some people seem to be emitting. I think a huge problem is that people don't seem to realize that there is etiquette associated with text, as well as speech. The person who, a few months ago, posted an email that they were sent from 10C should never have done so, especially without asking the 10C whether they could quote it first. This way, we could've nipped the distribution of (potentially) false information in the bud.
I asked tenclub regarding the signing and posted accurately what was replied, which was very similar to another quote in this thread.
People quote ten club all day long here, its exciting, people share news, in fact thats how a lot of news happens in the world.
Should the guy who met Stone at a gig have asked him if he minded him posting on the forum that only 30 or 40 would be signed? Should he fuck.
Not entirely sure how it can be false info when it comes from source, perhaps you could elaborate on this before making just stupid statements

Hope you are right. My experience is it is a chore for him and not something he likes to do.
I've sat around before/after a few shows and not seen him sign, although I hear that he has.
If every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the Ten Club got a signed box set, it would make it less special, less rare, and of less value.
Of course if you've ever been the baseball card collecting/trading type; this would be what Sherlock Holmes refers to as "elementary"
I personally didn't buy this thing with any intenion, desire, or expectation of it being signed by the band.
Sure...It would be great to open it up and see that the band signed it, but if it's unsigned...I couldn't give a rat's ass.
I'd much rather get my autographs the old school way by bumping into Stone, Eddie, Matt, Jeff, Mike, Boom at an "In and Out Burger" and kindly, politely, and un-intrusively ask them to kindly sign my super cool ultra deluxe boxset that I'm so very thankful and blessed to have the opportunity to purchase by the wonderful organization that is the Ten Club.

Ha Ha...Good Point.
Maybe I'll just bring the composition notebook with me and give it back to Eddie, telling him I found it at an In and Out Burger.

Hell,
Just have em sign your stomach after visiting the in n' out burger joint a few more times. There is sure to be plenty of room there
See what i mean? Plenty of space for an autograph for you and you're friend's
Some people here need to learn the difference between being disappointed and being duped.
The fact that some people here "predicted" every box would signed isn't really a logical reason to be mad at the 10C. People need to realize they created the fantasy by themselves. Also, I don't see how people can complain that they weren't told that they could have gotten the box set cheaper from BestBuy. Consumer responsibility, anyone?
Why do so many people have a problem with personal responsibility?
Washington State came today...at least in Tacoma. Once you see the box, you will see why it takes a few minutes to sign. They would have to open it all the way and find a place. The box is black, so I assume they would sign inside somewhere.

I think that people would reasonably expect that if a big part of the marketing of a presale is that random sets would be signed, that there would be more than a handful. I mean, honestly... if you're only going to sign like 40-50 sets... you could at least phrase the pre-sale '50 sets will be signed by the band' or something that highlights that its not going to be a large number.
Second - the reason people complain about the BB site being cheaper (as well as Deepdiscount.com and others) is because TC charged the CC at the time of purchase. As far as I know there was no way to cancel the order and buy somewhere else.
I'm personally not mad, but I can definitely see why some are a little ticked at the process here. I mean, most of the arguments about it are quite petty, but overall there are some fair points to made on both sides.
What I find so funny about all of this is that when I bought my copy on Dec 10, I didn't even notice anything about random sets being signed! I was too excited about all the other pieces being offered with the package...
Besides, aren't we all into this band because of their music, not because of their signatures?

Well, many interesting and humorous comments here. Great material and passion.
I would have loved to have my edition signed... but didn't expect it. Certainly didn't feel entitled.
It certainly is about the music and there are so many goodies here to make me giddy again like its 1991 revisited.
I will say I'm disappointed that the exact same version of the 10c masterpiece will be on sale at Best Buy (along with RockBand bonus tracks) for less (and no shipping charges). I'm trying to get past that knowing my cash went to 10c and the band versus BBY.... but it's going to take a few sips of bourbon till I really forget it. In my mind, I was thinking that the 10c version would have slightly special packaging... like the Avacado when released... unique and special to those of us passioned fools whom love our band to inexplicable levels (at least to our spouses and loved ones).

"i bet they signed more than half the super duper editions"
"i think they signed 30 super duper editions"
"stone says they signed a handful of super duper editions"
"SPEEDY says they didnt sign any super duper editions".........hehehehehehehehehe
