i don't understand the argument that the 10c deserves this money more than retailers. why? are the people that work for the 10c better people or more deserving to earn money than people that work for those "evil" corporations? i swear some of you live with pearl jam branded blinders on. the band still gets paid for the sale of the record no matter where it's purchased.
No, they're not better, per se, but if everybody bought box sets, merch, etc through Best Buy, and no one supported smaller institutions like the ten club, then one day, we wouldn't have the ten club, at all... Best Buy makes plenty of profit from the countless other goods and services they offer - they don't need our support.

We pay them $25 a year for 2 magazines and a $2 vinyl. I highly doubt they would go belly up if we didn't buy box sets here.

really? so all the money we pay for memberships and 10c-only goods won't keep the 10c going? c'mon. that's a ridiculous argument.
that's where you're wrong - Santos never made that claim. someone posted that he/she emailed the 10C inquirying about how the band would go about signing the Deluxe boxsets, and the response that person shared was the now-infamous "as many as they can",...
You are right. Here is the original post...by pdalowsky, not Santos:
It is that whole "ENTITLEMENT" thing.... I paid my $25...THEY OWE ME!!! Worst thing 10C did was even MENTION the whole signed thing.(imho)
I get the whole business aspect of it all, (mention it and prob sell more), but I KNEW MONTHS ago that this was going to happen. Just didnt think it would happen BEFORE they arrived. AMAZING!!
For some it has NEVER been and will NEVER be about the music. While I am about the "stuff" as well to a point. It has ALWAYS and will ALWAYS be about the music for me. The collecting thing is just a bonus in my eyes, and I enjoy it. SIGNED OR UNSIGNED!! Grow up folks! :-)

Maybe I am naive, but I still think that everyone who preordered the super deluxe edition through Ten Club will have it autographed.
I didn't order it myself, but my girlfriend did. I hope that I am right. In case that I am wrong, best of luck to everyone and DON'T SELL IT ON EBAY!!

Your going to tell me the only reason you paid for the super deluxe is for a chance to have it signed? Who cares whether or not its signed, the box set is sick as hell.
Well, we're talking about five guys sitting around a table signing together, also probably talking, drinking coffee, eating eggs, etc. Factor all of that in, plus sitting there passing each box from one guy to the next - it's going to take longer than (scribble) - pass - (scribble) - pass...
Great, I'll end up with the one with egg yolk and coffee stains on it.
Your going to tell me the only reason you paid for the super deluxe is for a chance to have it signed? Who cares whether or not its signed, the box set is sick as hell.
Yeah, I hope this won't lessen people's enjoyment of the set. Signed or not, it's going to be ridiculously awesome...

Seriously, anyone who ordered and edition called SUPER DELUXE, ordered it because they are obsessed/inlove with this band, NOT solely because they convinced themselves they'd get autographed one. I mean, don't get me wrong, I seriously want an autographed copy, but I would have bought it with/without the lure of RANDOM (emphasis on random in case you missed it) autographed copies. I'm super happy for anyone that gets a signed edition (and doesn't sell it on Ebay).
although for comparrison's sake, Trent Reznor actually signed every copy of Ghosts I-IV that was pre-ordered (probably because no one would buy it otherwise ))
that was only the equivalent of the super deluxe version of ten, and was limited to a few hundred copies, not all copies in general.
and not to get off topic, but trent is the most fan friendly artist out there. he gave the last album away, leaked year zero himself, and has now leaked HD audio and footage so people could make their own dvd. he cares. that wasn't a gimmick to get anyone to buy it, as you could download it for free. just saying.

Agreed. That is a great example of someone who really cares about his fans. He paid for his last tour out of pocket. The really expensive one with the amazing light show. No label backing, all his money. He could have mailed it in and did a very simple stage setup like Pearl Jam but instead he went all out on the production and the ticket prices were very reasonable.

I think a lot of the argument is that they ordered it from the TC thinking at least a nice percentage of the sales would be signed.
And I think another part of the argument is that the TC preorder is more expensive than Best Buy w/o the bonus RB2 tracks.
Those are really two different things... but one thing I will say is that while many say they'd rather give it to BB than the TC... you know the TC is getting them so much cheaper than BB is, so they are definitely doing OK on these. That's obviously their right, and I'm happy I purchased from them, but to blindly say that they are on the same level as a retailer on these can not be right. If wholesale is say $120... TC has to be well below that since they are the artists behind them.
Personally I think this is all speculation... and we truly won't have any freakin clue how many are signed until these puppies start showing up... I could see this band signing enough to satisfy all preorders placed by 10c members.
am i the only one on here that thinks this about the signed copies: who cares? it's someone's name in marker. i dont know probably just me. i'd rather meet someone or have a conversation then their name written down. good luck to everyone though!

I agree. You need an experience to accompany an autograph - otherwise it's just a name on paper.

I never really read any of the posts regarding PEOPLE's THOUGHTS on the boxsets.
I just knew that they went on sale, and based on the information provided to me via email and the website, I knew I had a bunch of choices depending on my desire and my budget.
I also knew that if I placed an order of the super deluxe box set, before a certain date, that there was a possibility of it being signed, but that this boxset was not a ten club exclusive and would be available at other retail places.
That's it. Nothing about a percentage of how many would be signed, nothing about they'll try and sign all of them, nothing that said, "this band will sign as many as they possibly could"
Just - there was a possibility that it could be signed. And guess what, how is it false advertising, when there's still a possibility of it being signed!?!?! It hasn't arrived yet. If only 1 box set is signed, then 10C did a fine job at explaining it, there was a possibility.
You people thinking that you deserve a box set to be signed are absolutely crazy. The amount of thought process and design in this reissue alone is incredible, and rivals any other bands devotion to their fanbase.
We are given b-sides of b-sides on this.....how crazy is that, that they dug through the tapes that much because they knew we had all pretty much heard each and every bside there was known to us fans.....but they dug deeper...and are giving us C-Sides. That's incredible and more than anyone can ask alone.
But they should sign every set because it won't take them that long. Get real.
I've only got one Eddie Vedder signature. It is from a Benefit concert that was held in Los Angeles at the Wiltern.
It is fucking sweet. It was for Tsunami relief and is signed by Eddie, Tenacious D, Wil Ferrell, Beck, Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, and perhaps Chris Rock.
Ugly ass poster, but fucking sweet overall.
I don't know how many they signed, but I must of got one of the last ones Eddie did.
It is a chicken scratch with Eddie V.
No "edder" for me. No big deal, but I have hunch from this and reading these boards over the years, along with everything else, Eddie HATES signing autographs. My guess is he would find himself among the people on this board who think "no big deal", and "who gives a fuck about a piece of paper with some 'chicken scratch' writing on it".
In Eddies world it is a chore to sign, 10 autographs, let alone 40, 100, 200, or 400.
No big deal. I respect that opinion (even if it is just made up and inferred by me)
So my guess is When Stone says they only signed like 40 or so and can barely conjure up the memory of doing it, it was probably something they said, "sure" to when it was put to them by Tim, or Santos, or Kat, or whomever, as they wanted to make something special happen for the fans, but when it comes to "doing" it, there must be less than no motivation behind it.
Just my two cents, and allow me to add my third and fourth cents as well.
I worked for the UMass Basketball team as a Manager in College. We had a great year, going to the final four with Marcus Camby, but even the most remote bench scrubs we had, HATED signing autographs.
I couldn't believe it. As a manager we had to get autographs on request from coaches, big alumni, even for players who wanted shit for their friends and such. What a pain in the ass.
None of them could be bothered to want to sign more than a max of 4 or 5 things. Granted they were busy, and I don't begrudge them, but I can imagine the "digital lounge' with 400 box sets lined up, Eddie walks in and goes "Fuck NO"! signes a handful to a few dozen and runs out to smoke a cigarette.
Now as to those who say. Unless you meet the band, who gives a fuck. Well obviously some people do. You don't we get it. But I think we should all appreciate that we are all different in what we consider important to us.
I personally don't care about having one of these signed, except for the fact that I would trade it in a New York minute if it would bring in a Benaroya Vinyl set, or a long sought after poster.
I'm loving the New Ten reissue cause it is fucking Kick Ass!
