Agreed, sounds like old Ed to me. I wouldn't have minded if they rerecorded this or other old songs, as I think the band can play as good as ever, and I like Ed's current voice.

Has the band ever confirmed if they rerecorded songs for Lost Dogs?

Some people are gonna be embarrassed when the truth comes out, some people on both sides of the fence seem pretty definite.....

I'm pretty sure that Alone is argument #1 for the fact that they DID rerecord some stuff for LD. First, I absolutely don't buy the whole "it's an earlier take" argument. The music is IDENTICAL to what's on not only the Rough Mixes bootleg, but also on the Rarities Unreleased Cuts promo disc. However, the vocals and lyrics are completely fucked. Now, from the First Week Rehearsals demo, we know that the lyrics to Alone were fully formed by the time they went in to record the 10 sessions. So there shouldn't have been any reason for a later recorded version to sound that bad. The only thing I can come up with is that, for whatever reason, Ed decided to re-record vocals for some songs. And in the process managed to completely butcher the lyrics. Ed did it to Alone, and he's done it to Brother as well.

no, that wasn't the whole story, it was long b/c roche is the ultimate pj fan and he was talking to the audience (which could consist of listeners who may not own Ten) about how he's been playing it every hour to get their reaction. He was surprised at the listeners' reactions....how much they liked it. He was undecided at first and wanted everyone else's opinion. Then, he was excited as he described the parts he liked the best. I can't remember it all, but it sure made my boring long, drive home from work better. I have to make sure I describe what he said accurately b/c he used to read the old board and sometimes posted. (roche, if you are reading this, I'm sorry if I didn't get it right, but I know how much you love the band.)

If only more dj's could be like roche.

dc101's website has many scantily clad women and it makes me sad. Because of their thong pics, etc. I can't play it online at work.

In regards to whether the vocals were re-recorded recently or not..........

Listen to the very last seconds of the song, where Ed is walking away from the mic (especially the very last "brother"). Sounds more like old Ed........

I am just amazed by how many club members believe that this is a current Ed on vocals. No big deal...but I would bet any amount of money that this is just a "polished" old vocal track.

Ed can't sound like "old" Ed anymore...nor would he even try IMO. I Just think it's so very obvious that his vocals are from 1991.

Dude, I think you're totally wrong. I think the vocal was re-recorded when he re-recorded vocals for Lost Dogs. Ed could sound like "old" Ed if he's in the studio and he can do it until he gets it right. Plus there are lyric changes. I dunno, if this was an old vocal, wouldn't this be the one that appeard on the rough mix from 1991 instead of the one that did?

    Either way, I like it.
