We had to say goodbye to our tender pawed terrorist yesterday. His condition had worsened during the last couple of days, it was terrible having to watch him not getting enough air and being just weak and exhausted  We did everything in our powers, but he clearly didn't have a good time anymore and we didn't want him to suffer any longer. If they show signs of that heart issue so early in their life, it seems to be the genetically inherited form of hcm and you cannot really do anything, even with all the money in the world. I never had a cat with that, it is just destroying me at the moment. He came into our life just when I came to live with Cav. He was my buddy, helped me to make me feel at home and he was our little furry love child.

We are heartbroken and we miss him. He was a rock star and will never be forgotten ...
i think in the past month we have lost 3 PJ cats :(

RIP Mr Pickles. I know it must be hard for you and Cav. Thoughts are with you.

  • Christmas was sad and good cat-wise. I shed some tears, especially when the family gave us a christmas pickle ornament as a present, but overall it seems to be getting a little easier every day.

We decided to take a foster child and kind of grief therapy cat in. She is 5 years old and the total opposite of Mr. Pickles, but maybe that is a good thing ... She is a handsome, very small kitty with the hugest eyes. She still has to adjust, and most of the times is a little hyperactive and nervous mess, but she seems to be feeling more at ease every day and today even purred. We'll see how it goes, but it feels good to have a kitty in the house again. Nevertheless, I still miss the ginger purrmaster enormously.

It is cool to see her coming out a bit more every day. But she seems overwhelmed with all the different and strange sounds in our house  Glad to hear your kitties are fine!

Little tip when introducing kitties into new environments..
One: alwAys bring something from the new environment
TO the cat before bringing them in.. I.E. a blanket or pillow.
If this is not the case, then keep them in a seperate space from
Others TIL they adjust. This can take a while, as cats area peculiar
creature. Usually cats adjust to most all things c
Very quickly. If you still need help, feel free to PM me,
I've been working with mixed households ( pets and people
as well as pets and pets) for many years. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice  I've been reading a bit about the topic and came to the same conclusion. In reality, however, you probably never know if it happens as planned. We have now decided to keep Sam instead of just fostering her. She just made a lot of developments since she has been with us and it is really cool to see how she grows more relaxed and open every day. Today, she jumped on the bed and snuggled with me in the morning :)

We definitely want to have a second cat, and I might come back at your offer then :) We are not sure what kind of companion to pick for her - same age or younger? Same sex or not? I am tending towards a male kitten. At the moment, we are preparing for our move to a new apartment. We will wait till Sam has settled in and then start looking for a second cat ...

 I got my first cat back in '08 few months later figured she might want a playmate. I got a female cat, about the same age. They get along pretty well. Don't think it matters if they are female or male to be honest.

When i brought home y other cat i put her in the bathroom for a few days so they would get used to each other. Although the following day i opened the door and she got out and my other cat saw her. There was some hissing involved but nothing serious. :)

Yeah, I'm expecting some hissing! It's good to hear success stories of cats that haven't spent their whole life before together  I'll keep you updated! Pet your furry babies from me

This is my little guy Gremmie. The day before Christmas Eve he got hit by a car and he somehow miraculously survived! I discovered him in the back yard curled up in the flower bed disoriented and confused. I at first thought he had been attacked by some other animal, but upon further examination I realized he had indeed been struck by a car. Luckily my husband is a veterinarian, so he got the best of treatment. He spent about 2 weeks recuperating in bed and he is just now beginning to get back to his old self. I was so worried about him. He wouldn't eat or drink or anything at first. I thought of all the times I wished his annoying little butt away, and all I could do was hope he would get better. I am SOOO glad he is going to be ok after all!!!

Sorry to hear about your cat Leez.

I have been super sick for a couple of weeks and have not been on here. Sleeping was my best friend. Of course Gremmie and Pig were snuggled up with me on the couch every day.

Glad you got anther cat and it sounds like things are getting a little easier for you. Again I am sorry about Mr Pickles.

Thank you, Durp. It is kind of weird to see this thread page, cause it starts so sad ... But yeah, it really feels good to have a kitty in the house again :) I'm glad you're feeling better! Isn't it awesome how they somehow feel that you are not well and try to comfort you? Cats are the best!

Yeah it is cool. When my back is giving me all kinds of hellish pain Gremmie is waiting for me outside our bedroom and as soon as I sit down he get's on my lap and gives me this look that seems to say. "Ok you're not moving today and I'm going to sit on you to make sure you don't get up." He's a great cat and Pig is starting to do the same thing.

Today I was playing guitar and Gremmie came in and sat on my case and just sat there till I finished. I started playing Immortality and he started to fall asleep. It was funny.

When you have six of them 'comforting' you on the bed when you are ill, it's a bit tight for space!

 Awwww! I wouldn't mind having one cat coming to the bed. Sam isn't too keen on doing that. She will jump on the bed or the sofa, but won't stay there for long. She is not really a snuggler. But maybe she is still too excited about all the noises and now the moving boxes. I hope she will relax more in the new place...

Gremmie is taking a visit today to the groomers. He was not happy during the ride over. He was meowing this pathetic meow the whole time. He knew where he was going. We like to send him to the groomers two or three times a year. Usually after summer before spring and once in the summer. During the summer I ask the groomer not to trim down his front nails since he runs outside all day long.

Poor guy when he gets home tonight after a day of baths he get's his shots. He won't be happy but we got a nice treat for him when it's all done.

Just picked up Gremmie from groomers. He is a pissed off kitty. He's pouting everytime i reach down to pet him he takes off running then turns and gives me a fuck you look. He'll get over it but it is funny.

Had that happen to me as well. A year or two ago I woke up at around 4am with stomach pains and throwing up and going to the bathroom constantly, called off work. When the "bug" finally went away I went to bed sometime in the afternoon. My one cat, Willow, slept right next to my head on the pillow :D She had never done that before and still hasn't.
