Crazy episode. I guess we know why Richard was at Locke's birth now and the whole reason behind the test he gave Locke when he was a little kid.

On a side note, it was nice seeing the Filipino flag and seeing that Charlie was born in my mom's homeland. ;)
    Yeah, some nice answers tonight.
And I wondered at the begining if Desmond had named the baby after anyone on the island, should have guessed Charlie straight away.

As for the woman in bed being the Annie Oakley woman on the island, not sure yet, its possible since Farraday said she looked familiar, but the age doesn't line up unless she does the Richard non aging thing, but Widmore doesn't so I don't know if that makes sense.
    This weekend we rock Portland
  • Widmore? Are your serious? This show kills me.
yeah... weird... not enough time for all the answers!
Well, we knew he was on the island at some point in his life. The question now is how and why did he leave. Usually when the Others leave they have a reason and the means to get back but he's been trying for years just find the island again.

Maybe she time travels like Daniel. He doesn't age either because of that. But it doesn't seem like they'd be the same person since the woman in Oxford has a sister who would know all about her history and whether or not it included growing up on a mysterious island. I'm not sure what the connection is yet.

I see Charlotte was getting pretty sick at the end of the episode. They cannot off her soon enough for me. She does nothing to advance the story anyway.

If she was whisked off island as an infant and adopted by Pak, maybe not.

Good point. Also, I'm wondering if that lady conceived on the island...and didn't die? So maybe it was possible that women USED to be able to have babies on the island? (Was that redundant enough?)

Also, did anyone notice at the end when the Scottish soldiers, I'm guessing from the 1940s? claimed the island as theirs? That ties in nicely with Widmore being Scottish...I'm even wondering if perhaps he was the 'lead' soldier dude who told them to chop off her hand?

    SO?? What do I win?

From what I could tell there was some tension between Widmore and Richard in the episode when Locke went to the camp. Maybe Widmore tried some sort of mutany later on and was banished from the Island. If he was banished from the island, it would be a good reason as to why he wouldn't have a way back.

I too thought she was the same woman, and it's entirely possible. Remember that the guy at Oxford said Daniel was trying to send rats' BRAINS through time, not whole bodies. My guess is that she was subject to his testing and got stuck in the past, maybe as one of her ancestors. Desmond time travels this way too, in that he doesn't leave his present body but just sort of blacks out for a while. Her vegetative state is this "blackout". She might realize who/where she is if Daniel tells her, like Desmond did when Mrs. Hawking brought it to his attention.

One thing with Charlotte is she may need a "constatnt" like desomnd and Farrady did when they got sick last season, but she is not having the flashbacks like they did. I have a feleling that Bomb is going to come into play again though.

agreed that they can't kill off charlotte fast enough.

i like that we found out why richard was visiting baby locke.

also cool that desmond named the baby charlie (unless it was for charlie widmore  )

all of these connections and possibilities of people being younger/older versions of their character are really starting to confuse me!

I didn't come up with this - one of my friends from my old job did. But she thinks that the woman with the gun in the Others camp who took Farraday to the bomb was Daniel's mother which explains why he kept looking at her weird and recognized her. Plus the fact that we got Mrs. Hawkins name to be Eloise and the fact that one of the people in the camp called her Ellie. Also, Daniel's rat that he demonstrated time travel to Desmond with was named Eloise.

Also, I wonder if it was the island that kept Locke from shooting Widmore.

Looking more and more like Mrs Hawkins is Daniel's mother.... especially since she is in LA at the same time (it seems) as Ben.

I think Desmond and Penny named their son Charlie after your Charlie. If it wasn't for Charlie on the radio with Penny before he sacrificed himself she never would have found the island.

I really think that the woman with the gun, Ellie, is Daniel's mom which is why he stared at her funny. Ellie is also short for Heloise which is Mrs. Hawkins first name.

Now we just have to figure out why Farrady and Mrs. Hawkins have different last names.

That can explained away as easily as her keeping her madien name and Farraday taking his birth father's last name.

I really enjoyed last nights episode. Much more than the premiere. I'm not sure about the girl other being Daniels mother. That was 50 years in the past and she just doesn't seem like she is 70 years old (hawking, if that is his mother). Who knows though with this whole time travel situation. The do have a slight resemblance. Loved that Widmore was revealed as an other. That made the episode for me because for way to long we have been wondering what his tie to the island may be. Here is my thought on good old Charles. He obviously left the island, or was banished. This possibly may have been around the time of the Dharma initiative and Ben taking over the others. Possibly Widmore thought he was to take over and departed when he didn't. He clearly wants the island and has big issues with the others and Ben. They obviously know each other too.

I can't wait to learn more about Richard. He is one of the most interesting characters on the show and its about time his story was told. If we are going to see some of the others in younger form, how about bringing back mr. eyepatch.

Also really liked the others were speaking Latin.

I don't understand why the island disappears after the flash of light, if it is just the people travelling through time.

Probably because they are traveling from one point in time on the island to another point in time on the island, in other words they are being picked up by the timestream and transplanted to another point along the stream.

I think Richard is going to be from the Black Rock, or maybe from even earlier than that. I doubt they get into his character until next season, if at all.

I'm also thinking that Richard pre-dates the "Black Rock"....the classical statue of the foot....the speaking in Latin does make one think of the era of the slave trader/pirate ship.
