Yea those Octobers are rough on the old liver.

at least pearl jam and springsteen aren't in town this october. 2009 was the roughest. I was unemployed at the time. At one point I think I drank something like 12 out of 14 nights that year. It was awesome...thought for sure my wife was going to leave me

are you referring to the Greatest Week Ever? what a blur. so stoked pj recognized it's greatness in the dvd.

yeah i got laid off right in the beginning of october of '08. and what a fucking month that turned out to be.

yes...only I hit 3 springsteen shows the week before PJ was in town (or maybe it was 2 weeks before...I don't remember). That entire month was tremendous. Only thing that could have topped it was a WS win.

08 was great too. I actually had to be in state college at 9 AM the day after game 5 of the WS. Was a big meeting that I had scheduled a month in advance so there was no getting out of it. I didn't drink one beer before, during, or after game 5. It sucked. the two guys I was with were getting hammered and went out afterwards. I was being responsible, which wasn't fun.

Anyway, 100 wins is awesome and I can't wait to watch the playoff games. I hope charles sticks with the lineup he's used the last two games.

If they weren't such jerks the franchise record would've been easily taken. Ah well. And not like it's saying much. Team's been around since 1883 and no team before the 70's won 97 games. That's ridiculous.

They had earned a rest. Although 8 games was a little ridiculous. Oh well.

Absolutely. I just thought when Pence dropped that ball Saturday night, "Alright, now this is getting outta hand."

    nice.

my buddy had a job interview the morning after game 5, part 2. haha...we had bottles of champaign delivered to our table right as hinski went down swinging (they arrived literally as lidge fell to his knees. our waitress was phenomenal). dude pounded his quickly then literally sprinted out of the place because he knew there was no way we'd let him leave had he stayed a minute longer.

please god let us relive that moment next month...

was so close to buying game 6 WS tix last night. there were seats in 140 at a reasonable rate. if I was drunk (or not expecting a kid) I definitely would have bought them. I've got game 7 and I want to be there again if they win it....getting bombed this time around

    damn conscience. getting old sucks

he's on the giants' radar and I say "hell, no!" of course, he is a perfect fit as a sabean guy....in his 30s with his best years behind him

what do you guys think....is there anything left in the tank?

what's he got, like 15 HR playing in your bandbox? he'd be lucky to hit double figures in SF.

Funny thing is I think he's worth more here than to anyone else. He makes the Phillies tick. The stats never did justice to what he did for this team. But, somewhere else, none of that would matter. He's basically our Jeter.

I agree that he is worth more in Philly. I think all he would get outside from Philly is 3/$36 or so. I could see Philly going a few bucks more and adding a fourth year, can't imagine them going 5.

    i wouldn't go 5.

i'm just happy he's got his groove back. whole lineup seems to be coming together nicely at the absolute perfect time. they were still in their post clinching slumber heading into the reds series last year.

i'm pretty fucking confident right now.......only thing is i forgot i have my mom in law's b day dinner on saturday night. :x 7pm too. definitely going to miss some or all of game 1.

Yeah, I hear you. Yanks are at 8:37 Friday and I am assuming they will be the latest game on Saturday too, just want to know for sure. Hoping so. Trying to hit this Pumpkin Beer Fest at The Institute in the early afternoon then head up to New York for the game. Going to be a long day.

And if a west coast team gets home field (Arizona?) they might be the last game on Saturday.

Depends on the situation and who I am going with. Sometimes drive to the stadium, sometimes drive to Trenton and take NJ Transit in, sometimes take a bus, sometimes take Amtrak (try to avoid because its so expensive). Really all depends on who I am going with and what my plans are. Amtrak is easiest but most expensive, bus is least expensive but its a bus and the NJ Transit just takes a while.

Since I will be drinking before this weekend, I will most likely just hop on a bus and head up. Think I am staying with the guy I am going to the game with Saturday and will probably take the train home Sunday depending on timing.

I would have a tough time seeing Arizona get prime time. Could see Boston/Texas getting the last game, although the Yanks are already scheduled for the last game on Friday.
