but but but Champ...they are shoes.

I really like shoes...oh the power of a good stiletto! the awe induction of a well placed square heel!!!

    aaaaahhh shoes.

    and bras...they are a weakness :o

:)..oh boy, I can't wait for her thread tomorrow entitled 'what to wear on a date' and even moreso for the inevitable excuses to follow ;)..enjoy..

oh my sandal wedges don't look like that. the are wooden on the bottom, not cork, and they aren't platform and have a much smaller heel.
yeah I figured you couldnt...walk in them, so practice...or not...they are the shoes that will give you the height and slim you a bit.

and the sandals you describe are not dressy enough.

by the way to all the dudes making the comments...this is shit that I learned/dealt in High school...on my own...so - I don't actually give it much thought anymore. I was trying to give Citymouse a bit of info so that she can make smart clothing decisions based on tested insight.

I can dress up...but mostly I only dress up for work, or if my bf is wanting to do something special...I am usually in vans.

that doesn't mean that I don't own and appreciate a good heeled shoe. :D

oh I can walk in heels- don't need the practice per se in terms of teetering and stuff. I just wore heels TOO much in my mid 20s when I wore professional suits for a year and now all the bones in my feet are displaced, so if I walk in really high heels that put pressure on the balls of my feet it's just constant pain.

I used to dress pretty well, and felt like myself and stuff (very casual but still cute). but my entire body has changed as well as my entire sense of what I wear (from my body changing but also from the lifestyle I've had the past few years).

I don't know about the whole dressy thing. I just don't feel comfortable in "dressy" clothes. Being a larger woman, wearing "dressy" clothes makes me look very old and not sexy or rock n' roll at all.

however the sandals are kenneth cole, I think they are much dressier than the wedges in the photo.

I don't understand why people are calling this thread a "train wreck." we are talking about clothes to wear on a date? what's the problem? You all are making me feel kind of nervous.

Followed by next week's "what to wear on a second date that I don't really want to go on".

I am all for recycling but let's get some fresh ideas going ;)

okay - well dressy clothes will look old if you are dressing "as a larger woman"

dressy should not be stuffy. and you should try the plus size stores. I see clothes in them all the time that are not old looking.

nah I don't like any of the plus size places. the clothes don't fit me right at all, and I don't like most of them. Most of them are just way too big, because like a 14 or a 16 in "plus" is actually different than a regular 14 or 16 (I didn't know that before). The pants are always really high rise, and the tops are always ENORMOUS empire things in hideous colors like purple and gold satin. Bleck. Don't like em at all. I've been trying to eat nothing but what's necessary to sustain a work out so I can fit in regular clothes again because I really really hate what I have to wear these days.

    LOL :D

I'm loving this! A dating/clothing thread :) I agree with FP on the underwear and the shoes - start with those - they will make you feel sexy and totally boost your confidence. Aside from that, wear whichever outfit you feel best in. If you go with jeans make sure they're dark jeans. You can dress them up with a cute top, some jewelry and shoes! Have fun with it :)
