what I'm always so confused about is when I'm in a regular store like say the gap, and I see a girl who is CLEARLY way bigger than I am. I seem to not fit in things that people who are bigger than me can. that makes no sense I know. but it's true.

I know EXACTLY what you are feeling. I saw this girl who was really big the other day, wearing a sweatshirt that I have from American Eagle.. Granted it fit us differently, but she was so much bigger then me, I was like.. wow, how does that work..

I swear, height and weight play a huge huge part in how people carry things, and sadly, short people have a lot harder time looking good in the same thing a tall person would..

I hope you don't think I meant it in a mean way! I just meant that they would talk some confidence into you :)

oh no I don't think it's mean at all :).

I want to go on what not to wear so they can take me to these "magic" stores that seem to carry every size...

DEFINITELY. and the weird thing is, I feel like the majority of people are either short and stocky or tall and thin- it seems like these go together. yet smaller sizers are shorter and larger sizes are longer.

ya really think so? i think people of ALL heights run the full gamut of being stocky or thin. i look around my office, mostof the young women are rather petite in stature, and most are tiny/thin! there are a few average sized girls, then a couple tall.....and for heavier women, all sizes.

funny too, i am 'short'....barely 5' 4" but i NEVER find my height a real issue for buying clothes. now my ass/hips can be a whole other story. ;) sure, have to get pants shortened at times, but not a whole lot taken off, so it's definitely interesting how different we all can be.
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow

I love What Not to Wear but I always have to wonder where the hell they are taking some of these people to shop. You see people that are pretty big on that show and they take them to what looks like these little boutiques in new york. Maybe it is different in NY, but here the little boutiques carry the smallest clothing!

I was dumb enough to think that all pants were the same length across sizes! until one day when I was just out of college, my friend was trying on a new pair of pants she had just bought from the gap. she was a couple inches shorter than me so I was like "howcome those pants are the right length on you? the pants from the gap are always way too long for me!" and my other friend was like "well she wears a 2 and you wear a 16" and I was like "so, that shouldn't affect the length" and she was like "but it does." I had been jaded with the clothing industry my whole life, but I think it was that moment that sent me over the edge.

Sounds to me like you should try to be more forgiving, of yourself and others.
The disgust at yourself is only going to feed into the eating and the weight issue.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

Let's stop the pity parties folks! Life is good. I am not the one that should be telling this to you all....
Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome

no it doesn't really, because I don't really have eating problems. I don't often take my emotions out in food. I actually eat pretty close to perfectly, according to my nutritionist. I keep a log, eat every 4 hours, I'm a vegetarian, I eat sweats when I crave them, I get the right amounts of carbs and protein and I eat all whole grains. (my only problem is eating in front of the TV or while working! for some reason I have yet been able to break this habit!) The trouble is eating this well actually makes me fatter. when I was very thin I barely ate at all, and when I did all I ate was plain veggie burgers, every night for about a year (and a lot of times I had cookies for lunch). the period when I was thinnest corresponded to the worst eating habits I've ever had, actually. It does affect my work outs when I get upset with my weight, I will give you that.

Well taking them to boutiques doesn't help the viewers :( ... the UK version they go to chain stores and department stores ... think once they took someone to a tailo

Also if you find something that is almost right ... try on every one they have of your size in the shop as they will all vary slightly ... I'd never thought of this until me friends mum who was a seamstress for clothing chains said to do it.

    I've heard this before.

I'm a size 8 at most stores, and at some places a 10.. but I'm 5'8" and I have a hard time finding pants that are long enough.

New York and Co, has 3 different lengths for sizes, Gap fits me well, Banana Republic, Old navy. They have decent lengths, for shorter, and taller women.

I know what you mean about the stores on what not to wear. I do know that I have seen them take people into New York and Co, Macys, H&M, Filenes, and Lane Brant. But normally its small shops that look like they might carry a size 6 if you're lucky.

Then it sounds like you should make peace with your body image, since eating health is much more important than being thin.

I look like I eat mcdonalds 3 meals a day and follow it up with a vat of chocolate frosting. I can't make peace with that.

    Yum!

Maybe your body is slow at adjusting to you eating well. If it got used to you eating next to nothing and then you are adding more calories, even good ones, its going to mess with your metabolism for a long time. Keep up the eating well.. its a long ass battle.

I think that is exactly what happened. because it is not normal to gain as much weight as I did as quickly as I did unless you have some REALLY poor habits.

lol and I feel like if I *look* like I eat mcdonalds and vats of chocolate frosting, I should be able to do it! I look like crap and I'm getting none of the benefits!

When I was in 9th grade I didn't eat anything. I had like one small meal a day.. I was small too.. and then I started to eat 3 meals, not bad stuff, just a normal human amount and BANG it was like weight poured on..

It was HARD to get it off, but eventually I did. Now I am about what I was in 9th grade, but I do eat normal meals, and watch portions. I count calories, and go easy on carbs for sure. I also do yoga, and try to make it to the gym. It was very hard to get to that point, but stick with it. You might just have to wait out your body being thrown for a loop.

Sounds like you are bound to be unhappy then, or unhealthy.
If I may, also... there is more to a person than how he or she looks and if you are looking for a meaningful relationship sometimes a flawless figure brings with it a lot of junk people.

It's not a pity party... but it's just hard to see somebody going so hard on themselves when the pictures say there's absolutely no need to be.

I tried not to eat anything for a while in 9th grade too. weird.

I have to say I had a *perfect* eating day yesterday, looking at my log. it could not possibly have been better all around.

Counting calories and macro-nutrient ratios absolutely works. Most people don't do it, which is why most people fail when trying to lose fat and/or stay fit. Many people don't have to because they're meso or ectomorphs, but not everyone is so lucky.
