My understanding is the WAC champion is supposed to play in the Humanitarian Bowl unless they are BCS eligible, which BSU is this year, but they still won't be let in. We just win the WAC all the time so it seems like something we just host.

Sounds nice, like playing in the SEC... your bowl game is always a home game and teams have to come to your turf to play the "neutral" bowl game ;)

Yeah, I'd say it's been working out pretty well so far... We have to show off the blue turf!

Think its obvious it will be OU-Florida in the NC game.

think its also obvious that it SHOULD be OU-Texas.

Not to talk shit about the SEC defense, but when a team breaks the record, scores 60+points 5 games in a row, that says more about the offense than it does about the defenses they were playing.

We'll see if Florida's corners and their "speed" are really capable of stopping the best offense in college football history.

I think OU wins by about 10 points. 34-24.

We saw Florida barely squeak by a fairly untested Alabama team. OU is stacked on Offense and I think their defense is better also. Tebow's a gamer and will keep his team in it, but it can't just be him and Percy Harvin.

Yeah, I was expecting Florida to easily take Bama. turned out to be a game.

And, sure, florida is the maybe the only team to run a play action without a RB, but still, its kind of 1 dimensional without Percy.

I agree OU's offense takes this....One of the biggest criticisms for OU has been their defense...part of that is because their offense scores in 1:20 and leaves them on the field so long. If Florida slows them down its only going keep the offense on the field longer.

OU no question. I can't believe Florida is even favored in this.

Sounds like you guys haven't seen too much of the Gators this season. Their offense has been just as efficient, only difference is they face real defenses in the SEC, yet still scored 42+ in 5 straight conference games.

You're also discounting the contributions of others on offense, like Demps, Rainey, James, Murphy, etc. Yeah it was pretty much all Tebow yesterday. However, Harvin was out and Rainey didn't play much so Alabama just had to worry about stopping Demps really. And make no mistake, the Gators faced a better defense yesterday then OU has all season, with the exception of maybe TCU.

Tebow doesn't really beat you with his legs anymore, not like last year at least. He did it yesterday with amazingly accurate throws. And yeah, I'd put 'Bama's DBs over OU's.

The Harvin factor is much more than his stats. He opens it up for so many others to get involved. The defenses key in on him so much it allows Demps or Rainey to thrive. Yet he can still get his yards.

I'm a Gator but I'm thinking this will be a fun game to watch. A lot of offense. No way would I say right now that there's a clear-cut winner. But I think some people are underestimating Florida on both sides of the ball.

  • My money's on Florida. OU hasn't seen a real defense all season and we all saw how OU struggled playing Texas's average defense (as opposed to nonexistent defenses everywhere else). Florida is going to tear them apart and rattle Bradford early. If Percy is back for Florida, this could be kind of one-sided. Of course, Florida could win by 60 and people still wouldn't give OU the kind of overrated talk they give Ohio State.

Well, to be fair...OU did play TCU who has a very good defense, and they still dropped 35 on them. But the Gators are there with the 5th best scoring defense in the country, and 8th in total defense. And maybe OU's defense has looked better as of late, but is that because they forced Mizzou and Texas Tech to become one dimensional, because said teams' defenses are so bad that OU jumped out to a huge lead? I mean, Derrick Washington at Mizzou...nearly a 1000 yard back, a non-factor with only 10 carries. Batch and Woods at TT, both decent running backs with good numbers, only 16 carries between them in the OU game. Of course your defense is going to look better if you force the other team to throw on every down.

Point being, OU won't see that against the Gators. All this talk about the Sooners' offense...oh by the way the Gators have the 3rd best scoring offense in the country. And as I said, they've faced some tough defenses this year. South Carolina was near the top in all categories and Florida laid 56 on them and 500+ yards. I don't think you'll see Oklahoma match up well against all the weapons Florida has offensively. And someone I think on another thread called the Gators defense average, well refer to the numbers I mentioned above.

I don't expect it to be one-sided either way. But some people seem to be ignoring that Florida has an amazingly potent offense as well, and are much better on defense.

    will be a great game.

for anyone saying OU is overrated-look at their legacy. One of the best teams in history, currently in a great dynasty.

3 big 12 titles in a row I think, and since 3 big 12 teams are in the top 10 this year that's saying something. They lost to 3rd ranked Texas...Who did Florida lose to? Ole Miss? and squeaked by Bama...

    Should be a good game.

Ole Miss is a better team than most people give them credit for. They may have the best pure passer in the conference in Jevan Snead, and Houston Nutt is a great coach. All four of their losses were by a TD or less, and three of those were to teams they probably should have beaten (Wake, Vandy, and SC). That said, turnovers and some questionable play calling from Mullen is what sealed the Gators' fate in that one. But to say they squeaked by Bama, well maybe but that was without their biggest offensive threat, and Alabama was the number one team in the nation and had an unblemished record. Maybe they didn't impress too much with style points this season but the Tide is a very solid football team.

I have all the respect in the world for OU, and especially Bob Stoops. His arrival in Gainesville in '96 was what the Gators needed to go to the next level. His defense is the biggest reason we won our first National Championship. That '96 team, with the offensive genius of Spurrier and Stoops' D is still one of the best teams I've ever seen.

I expect a very good game. I certainly don't think OU wins easily, despite their ridiculously powerful offense. Because as I said, the Gators aren't too bad on offense either and their defensive numbers speak for themselves.

You warn people against throwing "overrated" around and then proceed to diminish Florida's season like you think they're overrated. Ole Miss is a good team this year, and Florida has been tested. They fell behind to the #1 team in the country and mounted a 4th quarter comeback... without their biggest playmaker. That's nothing to sneer at. OU lost the only close game they had and couldn't come up with a stop when it counted against Texas ever. I'm not saying they're overrated, I'm saying they better be ready for Florida and quit gloating about their "unstoppable" offense. The last time Florida went to a bowl game they played a team that also had a Heisman quarterback and had put up big offensive numbers all season with a better defense. I think we all remember what happened in that game. And OU's record playing against out of conference teams in the BCS speaks for itself.

Agreed. They actually outrank OSU in the BCS too. I guess you'd have a little too much crying if two non-BCS schools got into BCS games. I personally think that's the only appeal to the system, the potential for busters.

    Ducks vs. OSU Cowboys

Solid game. We do pretty well and against teams named OSU that wear orange :)

Too bad Texas, who should be playing in the title game against OU, doesn't get to play a worthy opponent like USC or Alabama. OSU??? Really??? Snooze fest, Horns will stomp their dicks in the dirt. Big 10 should've been kicked out of the BCS this year.
    I said Yeaaaaaaah!

Maybe, but nobody got screwed like Boise State. I love my Buckeyes, but no way do they deserve the BCS bid over Boise.
I agree. at least TCU will be a great matchup for Boise St. should be a good game.
